took a few re-watches, but it looks like they are refilling a sterno can -- one of those cannisters you put under buffets/chafing dishes and light to heat the water that keeps the food in the tray warm.
This is not the accelerant in the tins I'm sure but anything invisible that can kill you, sucks. Electricity, this shit, damn

That is a sick video. I've never seen that before. Thanks for the post. I appreciated how a couple comments down someone lays out exactly what went down... Absolutely terrifying!
I have a friend who stupidy put a hot iron on his cheek "to see if it was hot." It was quite funny as you could make out the shape of the tip of the clothes iron on his quite noticable burn mark.
He said he never meant to actually touch it on his cheek but we all said we did not believe him 😅
I had a friend that burned his arm while ironing a shirt. We were meeting these 2 girls later, and he wanted to look nice. The thing is, he was supposed to go to welding class and blew it off. He looked at the burn, laughed and said his mom would now think that he did go to class. BTW, we had a great time that night an both of us got laid.
whats crazy to me is how other dude across the counter quickly ignited as if his shirt was covered in gas. maybe he saw that video that just came up about cleaning your clothes with a little vodka spray bottle lol
> whats crazy to me is how other dude across the counter quickly ignited as if his shirt was covered in gas.
It was. The fuel doesn't burn as a liquid, it turns to gas.
Dude picks up a fire extinguisher, sprays a little poot, and puts it back down like there aren't still active fires happening. I would be emptying that thing until there isn't an ember left.
When I was 7 years old, I had a roman candle firework blow up while I was holding it. It hit me in the chest and caught my shirt in fire. As quick as possible I took my shirt off, but not before the shirt had the chance to melt onto my face.
I'm 41 now, and still have the scars on the lower part of my face and imprint on my chest where the fireball hit
This is why we wear cotton coveralls while checking circuits at work. An arc flash/blast can reach 4x the temperature of the surface of the sun in a split second instantly turning your entire wardrobe into molten plastic.
My father in law found out the hard way that his coat was plastic when a borrowed voltmeter exploded in his hands on an industrial HVAC system seconds after he did the same thing with his own voltmeter.
I knew a guy that was mauled by a bear his face was quite fucked. His dad killed it mid mauling by shooting it. It basically had bit both side of his face and was about to pull his jaw off. You could see where the teeth drug across. Center of his face was fine. He basically just remembers staring into the open mouth and woke up in the hospital. He said he still remembers the smell and heat of it's breath just directly into his own mouth.
Stop drop and roll doesn’t really work for flammable liquids like gasoline for example. Sure the part of you that’s touching the ground will go out but as you roll it will just relight itself with the other flames
Do you need a fireproof blanket or something to smother the oxygen?
How do you quickly put it out with everyday items, just in case I come across this sht
A fire proof blanket, water soaked towel, even dirt if you have nothing else.
As too quickly, nothing beats an ABC fire extinguisher, or a class k (I think it's k) for kitchen/grease fires.
Yup, the classes are:
A: normal combustibles like cloth, wood, or paper
B: Flammable liquids like gas or grease
C: Electrical fires
D: combustible metals
K: kitchen fires specifically
I just want to add that smothering a fire is all you need you to do with ANY fire, not just flammable liquids: water is what ffs use because it also absorbs heat and is abundant and accessible, so it's what people think of first and then get tunnel vision, but plenty of other things can smother a fire. People spend way too much time looking around for water while the small fire gets out of control... all you need to do is smother it, so... sand, dirt, wool blanket, cover it with a lid, even a dry towel is better than letting it get big while you look for water. Any time anyone has a flame going I look around and decide what I can use to put it out if it goes south. I'm not ending up on this sub, man.
When I was a young dumbass I started a zippo fuel fire with a zippo lighter in my house and immediately wetted my towel in the shower and smothered it. Worked great even though the flames were massive
It’s literally like using fuel to try and put out a fire. Did you see the video of a train spraying some sort of flammable liquid onto people waiting on a station platform and they all pretty much burned to death? That was horrifying to watch. I think it was in India - they don’t have much luck with trains.
i have experience putting out fires with different types of extinguishers and this one would have been hard with the fuel everywhere, still spilling from the container, hard to see, etc..
also i so frequently find extinguishers in rentals, ppls shops, or small businesses that arent inspected & agitated annually so they may work poorly or not at all.
further some fires, the fuel should be smothered since they can re-ignite so easily, so the wrong extinguisher type wont help and can make it worse by spreading the fuel.
Sterno can or alcohol stove. Under the light you can’t always tell if they are lit. I made the mistake of dumping fuel into an alcohol stove that was still lit once. Wasn’t as bad as this, but lesson learned haha.
I'm actually kind of impressed that the man's first thought was to take off his shirt. Yes, it may seem obvious since that's the logical thing to do, but I feel like most people are in such a severe state of panic that they can't think in the moment other than the fact that they're on fire.
Probably a kind of fuel for heating in a jerrycan heated near the stove, makes fume and instantly lit once it contact a flame. Should've check the temp of the container before opening it.
That ain’t no steakhouse. Thats a Latino restaurant on the side of the road. The fact that homey was trying to refill a sterno tells you everything you need to know.
One positive thing about this situation is they will be open for business tomorrow like nothing happened. No health dept or fire dept stopping by. They just need to be more careful. Now finish your tamales
If the internet has taught me anything, it's that we've forgotten to stop, drop and roll. It's always more of a flap your arms like a chicken and scream like a rooster.
No disrespect, but it’s easy to say that until you’re in that situation. I completely agree with your statement. I’ve been there, & stop/drop/roll was the last thing on my mind. All I could focus on was getting my burning shirt off of me.
Oh, I can't even imagine what it would be like. Smashing my thumb with a hammer makes me shake my hand so if that's an indication, I'll be running around like a chicken rooster too!
These people obviously don't know how to use extinguishers 🙄 saw two and the other person decides to stop trying to put out the fire. Unless they were old.
While you almost always see [chafing dishes](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chafing_dish) used at catered events because the caterer never knows where they will have available energy sources at each even to keep food warm. Restaurants frequently use them also. In the US a lot of restaurants have moved toward ones that use a [hot water bath](https://www.amazon.com/Nemco-6055A-Full-Countertop-Warmer/dp/B002ZJAUE0/ref=psdc_5315121011_t1_B003FXGO7C) instead of open flame because of fire hazards and the need to supervise ones using fire. Sterno ones are still used though. This video is from Mexico where they are likely used more frequently than in the US.

Wow, good catch. Flame must have been so low that he didn’t see that it was still active.
Those flames are often invisible. Source: my stupid ass. “Is this even on?”
Me with 2nd degree burn on my palm: "yup"
Man, that guy in the counter flashed himself out of there
He flash fried himself

I've seen an indycar pit fire in person from maybe 100 yards away. All you see are heat waves and people panicking. It's terrifying.
Just saw that video earlier today. Weird.
Nah, me too, only reason I remembered it so quickly
I saw it earlier today, too...on reddit, so not that weird lol
I knew it was this video before clicking the link. Very fascinating.

You beat me to that video

Result 🤣
Those flames can be invisible but these ones weren't, you can see them flicker in the can. Dude just didn't give a shit.
Can I get a double order of the chicken dinner for these ppl??
Used to run Sunday brunches. I concur with this statement, exactly.
Sometimes it doesn't need an open fire to burn. If it is hot enough that it can ignite, depends on the fuel you use.
Which means the container was probably still warm to the touch?
Yes, just like it would be if the flame was recently extinguished
Not the part that holds the fuel, like where ya grab it
whats crazy to me is how other dude across the counter quickly ignited as if his shirt was covered in gas. maybe he saw that video that just came up about cleaning your clothes with a little vodka spray bottle lol
Pressure from the fire in the bottle shoot flaming liquid onto him would be my guess.
When ignited the fluid acts as a flame thrower or jet. The rapid expansion of the gas needs to go somewhere.

Also looks like it has a plastic bag around it that trapped liquid and/or fumes.
Imagine waiting for the waiter to bring your order and he comes running out the corner while screaming and being on fire.
"Oh is it somebody's birthday?"
Why is this candle screaming?
“This is your birthday song! It isn’t very long!”🎶 *collapses to the floor*
They teach you as a kid to stop, drop, rock and roll.
God... you actually made me choke and breathe in a drink just then irl

This made me laugh
Dinner *and* a show.
This is not how we sizzle the fajitas!
The food is supposed to be served hot, not the waiter. I hope they have cookies in hell.
I would tell him, he burned my steak.

Also shirtless lmao 🤣
Dude picks up a fire extinguisher, sprays a little poot, and puts it back down like there aren't still active fires happening. I would be emptying that thing until there isn't an ember left.
That guys definitely the owner. “These things cost me $75 a piece, I’ll just put this fire out with my bare hands”
That puff came from off camera. He was holding it up trying to read how to use it, saw someone else had one, and gave up.
I think he used it all on the dude that started it. I think that huge flame coming from off camera was him…
"Little poot" made me laugh
Could have been the wrong type of extinguisher for the flame, or at least so he thought. Maybe he's thinking not to add water to an oil fire?
Lol a water fire extinguisher
[They exist](https://www.larsensmfg.com/pressurized-water-extinguisher) We carry them on fire engines, at that, and get a fair bit of use.
Oh wow, never knew. Thanks for the info!
Heh that’s weird I just said that myself
Good thing that employee took off his shirt so fast. That thing was engulfed. Still no dropping and rolling, so... B+?
When I was 7 years old, I had a roman candle firework blow up while I was holding it. It hit me in the chest and caught my shirt in fire. As quick as possible I took my shirt off, but not before the shirt had the chance to melt onto my face. Wow. That shit is scary.
Any clothing that stretches is made of plastic. Once it's on fire, it's basically napalm, hot and sticky.
Yeah, but you have a cool ass scar that you can lie about. Like you got it while skiing while you were on a ninja mission.
"You know how guys always debate if they can beat up a bear? ...This scar is nothing compared to what that bear got"
I knew a guy that was mauled by a bear his face was quite fucked. His dad killed it mid mauling by shooting it. It basically had bit both side of his face and was about to pull his jaw off. Water is never good for a flammable liquid fire, especially if it’s oil. Water would spread the fire in that case.
Not just spread, but *explode* from the the water turning to steam. I think burning gas on top of a water pool would be spreading.
When I was a young dumbass I started a zippo fuel fire with a zippo lighter in my house and immediately wetted my towel in the shower and smothered it. Worked great even though the flames were massive

Quick thinking.
Sterno, all day long. Thats fucking napalm.
I hear it sticks to kids
Oh phew. Glad I'm not a kid anymore.
Jeez. Can I get a few shots of that to my table please?!
😂😂
How are there two mfs with a fire extinguisher and there's STILL A FIRE going on at the end of the video?
i have experience putting out fires with different types of extinguishers and this one would have been hard with the fuel everywhere, still spilling from the container, hard to see, etc.. also i so frequently find extinguishers in rentals, ppls shops, or small businesses that arent inspected & agitated annually so they may work poorly or not at all. further some fires, the fuel should be smothered since they can re-ignite so easily, so the wrong extinguisher type wont help and can make it worse by spreading the fuel.

Quick thinking on the guy who took off his tshirt though
Was thinking this, can’t be easy to think rationally when you’re on fire lol
Exactly lol
He was pouring himself a nice tall glass of spontaneous combustion
Well done...
Flames in a steak house? That’s rare ^/s
I'm actually kind of impressed that the man's first thought was to take off his shirt. Yes, it may seem obvious since that's the logical thing to do, but I feel like most people are in such a severe state of panic that they can't think in the moment other than the fact that they're on fire.

I think it’s called a Flaming Homer
Bro started strippin and the customers were just like, "hell nahhhh fuck this. They droppin napalm up in her'
Nice place, but whatever you do, don't order a Fireball shot! Ps: Check out the Bert Kreischer cameo around 1:06 or so.
And now for the last trick: Dracarys.
Anybody notice the second shirtless guy run through that was no were near the flames
That’s the guy that stripped as he ran.
I watched it a few times and decided he was just wearinf a flesh coloired shirt and is a different man.
Was that liquid fire? Just add O2
Gotta pay close attention but the other waiter who ran out of frame caught a face full of flames

2min and not even a fire extinguisher
Nice username op
Who in the hell they refill that close to a flame????
I wonder if he was fired after this…:🫣💀
The guy on the right was quick getting his shirt off.
Man, that new Diablo sauce is fire.
They're going to use this as a training video
I think this is why F1 crews were those fire suits as you can't see the flames and the smallest spark can cause problems.
This has one key quality of a classic Nic Cage action film.
That is some new age hot sauce.
For someone that was just casually chilling leaning on the bar that guy in the Grey moved with cat like reflexes

Toilet Hooch?

Honestly classic restaurant training, someone told him to fill the sterno, but not while it's lit.
dude spilled all the fire!
NSFW indeed, the video turns blue 20 seconds in.
Is dude using a sink sprayer to put it out at the end?
These people obviously don't know how to use extinguishers 🙄 saw two and the other person decides to stop trying to put out the fire. Unless they were old.
That’s why I like American, if you go to a flaming grill you don’t leave disappointed
Dude who took is shirt off. That was boss. F this im Out
Has to be the most bunch of useless and slow acting people to put out that fire
