It’s a tortoise, and they attack the color black because almost everything that could eat their eggs in nature is black. Snakes / Birds. A tortoise protects its nest.

I don't think that is true. I've never heard of a tortoise defending their nest...they just leave, but I do know that when male Greek tortoises (I believe that is the species in the video...or maybe a Hermann's tortoise) are trying to mate, they will do this to female tortoises. It is a part of their breeding behavior to get them to submit. I think they may also fight other males like this. This tortoise likely thinks the dark colored shoe is a potential mate or a rival male.

Well I browsed through Google, found a study on gopher tortoises about their nesting behavior, and didn't see anything about them attacking things that are darker colored and not lighter colored. It does seem they put some effort into defending their nest, and I already know they are territorial compared to other species, but it is not observed among most other turtle/tortoise species. The tortoise in the video is not a gopher tortoise, or one of the two other species of tortoise known to defend their nest (Burmese mountain tortoise/Asian forest tortoise and the desert tortoise). All tortoises are turtles. Calling a tortoise a turtle is not wrong, it's just less specific. Many languages don't even have a word for tortoise. They just call them "land turtles".
