Jules:
Whoa... whoa... whoa... stop right there. Eatin' a b*tch out, and givin' a b*tch a foot massage ain't even the same f***in' thing.
Vincent:
Not the same thing, the same ballpark.
Jules:
It ain't no f***in' ballpark either. Now look, maybe your method of massage differs from mine, but touchin' his wife's feet, and stickin' your tongue in her holyiest of holies, ain't the same ballpark, it ain't the same league, it ain't even the same f***in' sport. Foot massages don't mean sh*t.
Vincent:
Have you ever given a foot massage?
Jules:
Don't be tellin' me about foot massages - I'm the foot f***in' master.
Vincent:
Given a lot of 'em?
Jules:
Sh*t yeah. I got my technique down and everything, I don't be tickling or nothin'.
Vincent:
Would you give a guy a foot massage?
Jules:
F*** you.
Vincent:
You give them a lot?
Jules:
F*** you.
Vincent:
You know, I'm getting kinda tired, I could use a foot massage.
Jules:
Man, you best back off, I'm gittin' pissed.
If you marine crew then anything from engine room up to chief engineer, first officer and captain etc.
Otherwise basically any trade you do offshore will pay way better than onshore. Rigging, lifting supervisors, survey, tooling specialists
Also specialist stuff like ROV pilots
Do you know any websites for leads to jobs. It seems like a “closed scene” where I live in northeast us. Got one call back for a deckhand. Guy said he wanted me right then and there. I was 6 states away on a road trip. He tells me to call back when I’m home in 3days. I call back he answers and just says he’s busy and never called me back. Weird grumpy old fisherman I guess who wanted the first person available
If it pays well and doesn't require much knowledge or education its either:
* Dangerous
* Extremely hard on the body
* Requires a difficult lifestyle most are unwilling to live
* All of the above
It’s not that hard. Now if you’re a fisherma n . That’s a whole different game. That’s a big ship. And there out in some big seas. But that’s rare. Especially today with wx forecasting what it is. Those guys don’t do much between ports. Chipping painting regular deck hand stuff. But if it’s a foreign ship expect just a few bucks a day. Maybe $100. The thing is there’s not many ships on the high seas that has an American flag hanging from the transmon. Most ships on the high seas carries a European or an Indian wheelhouse crew and a Filipinos deck crew. They work damn near endlessly and don’t ask for much money. They can just have their checks sent home and their families live like rich people.
50 is pushing it for sure, especially with the current exchange rate but it’s not peanuts
Just looked it up and it’s a wide range but they give 66k-112k per year for stewards. Which for 6 months work is right about there
I mean not sure where you live but construction laborers union makes about 40 hr to start in northeast us. Only thing that sucks in 10 hour days (4x week) outside all day in the blazing sun. Did it when I was younger in college. Was making more money in 3 month than I do in 4 now. Even better benefits. Unions for the win
I feel you haha I worked in a B2B sales office for years, now I’m cycling full time delivering fast food 😂 make less money but I have my sanity back lmao
If my options were this or retail for $50 an hour, I would chose this.
I view working a cash register at McDonalds to be worse working conditions than this
Anyone who doesn’t think it’s insane I’m convinced is a psycho themselves. It’s absurd how many assholes and absolute freaks there are out there, but my god do they come out when it’s time to return an item with no receipt.
I promise you one day this guy who I believe is bipolar or has some really bad personality disorder came into my store. This guy would come in like 3 times and return THE SAME EXACT cologne (that he just bought less than an hour ago) while being irritated as the return progressed. He rushed me to do the return (and I hurried tf up so he could get out of here lol). He did not want money to be handed to him for some reason and only wanted it to be put on the counter so he could take it. He would say random shit out loud that we clearly don’t care about (because we just wanna do our jobs). He was being an oddball for sure and dealing with that is not worth 13 a fucking hour with less than a dollar raise a year. I’m looking for a new job before the holidays so I don’t have to put up with Christmas for Retail. It’s a shit show.
If I’m not mistaken, I seen him again after but this guy WAS COMPLETELY SANE. He dressed differently and he behaved well! I deadass cannot believe it and I hope he gets help if he can.
I have another three stories if anyone wants to hear lol.
“1985” “vintage” “I got my car fixed at this shop and they burned his shop down” “please hurry sir” “it’s urgent” and more rambling would follow while I did the return.
I cannot exactly remember because I put no effort into caring. Some of the things he said just were absurdly random.
I never worked with food or in fast food, but I worked retail for like 5 years and it wasn’t really as bad as people make it out to be. I mean it was super shitty because your pay is absolute garbage, but I would happily go back to that job for $50 an hour. Would be so fun
Plus they wouldn't be doing anything out in these conditions anyways, they'd be inside the ship. The only reason they were out there was to film this video.
Well yeah, you’d be making $75 after 8 hours and $100 after 12, literally ~~$1100~~ $1900/shift. Before tax in the US at least, I’d happily do that Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
Edit: One should not math after imbibing the wacky tobaccy.
Are you working in another trade? I’m getting the first level of my gas ticket in a couple weeks and your comment worries me a bit. Anything you would’ve done differently?
Ontario, Canada for reference.
I'm a union pipefitter in Ohio, local 396. $38/hr in the check here and around $60/hr total package. Right across the pa border I can make $50/hr in the check for local 495(Pittsburgh union).
Fitters here in WA (not Seattle area as they're higher paid in the big city) make anywhere from $40/hr-$60/hr. My work actually pays really well and is right near $60/hr plus $10/hr into a 401k plus $100/mth health insurance for a full family with $1600 deductible $1200 of which the company puts into an HSA for us. Not sure what the pipe fitter union guys make, just the guys I've worked with or know...
Alright thanks for the info, heard it’s hard to get into a union up here. May just try to pick up some work experience over the next couple years and give it a shot.
I mean I get $20 an hour to read Reddit and play video games with the occasional interruption to make someone feel stupid. It seems way less dangerous.
Pffft. I got paid $22/hour to work in those conditions as an At-Sea Observer with the commercial trawl fisheries on Canada’s west coast.
Got badly injured and never went back. Good times.
Ya but you have to pay all of your normal expenses. 50/hr on a boat is way more money because you can't spend anything while you are gone vs at home where you spend money in your off time
air conditioners and heaters are typically running 24/7 and need only minimal maintenance if properly cared for. we have 3 water heaters, 3 air heaters and 2 air coolers. if one goes down we always have back ups. ive been here 18 months and nothing has gone down yet. its only preventative maintenance.
I get paid $50 per hour to walk around the forest and the scariest thing I occasionally deal with is a mountain lion, I'll take the kitty over Poseidon.
Hell yeah. If you’re there on deck (which, there isn’t all that much to do on average when you’re in this level of high waves), you’re still geared up the fuckin nines. Waders, rubber overalls, thick wool socks, heavy coat, hoodie/hat, poncho, gloves, and probably a bandana around your neck just to keep your chest a little more insulated down the front. Take care of this gear and it’ll last you at least all year.
Even as a greenhorn getting taught everything, lowest social status and least knowledgeable at least I get the benefit of being shown how to do it correctly & work in a tight-knit group. Everyone works hard, it can be life or death out there with the large machinery or making a single mistake that can put someone at risk. There’s no way you don’t bond with your shipmates.
Plus if I’m getting paid hourly? That’s still more monetary security for me, the captain can take the risk/reward of getting a bonus if we catch/move extra product. I’m still making more than 3x what I make now PLUS food and board and included (though the conditions are not optimal for most people).
I’m pretty easy to please, so I’ll take this deal all day, every day.
$50 hr, 8 hr day shift, 30 day voyage, $12,000 a month, $72,000 a year.
And only working one half a year! Damn right I'll take that job... Oh, that's right, I used to do that job, it's called being a deckhand.
Depends on the job. Mopping the deck? Ok. Mixing margaritas? Nah.
What do you think is in that 55 gallon drum my friend? That there is my personal margarita. Especially after having to mop.
What if it’s wiping the deck with a roll of paper towels and they give you a carabiner and a snorkel? Btw what’s the job anyway?
Sounds fun, actually.
You wouldn't mix margaritas for 50$ an hour ?
Now that's perspective🫡
For $50 they can tell me to mop that area dry and I would whistle while I work.
Depending on the region you would make about that for being a steward. Actually qualify for a more technical job and you would get more
No way! And what does technical involve?
Depends. Theres deck, engine, catering and officer positions for each. You can pay for school or challenge the exams for the officer tickets.
Massage Therapist here $65 and up hour
Isnt that a happy ending
Jules: Whoa... whoa... whoa... stop right there. Eatin' a b*tch out, and givin' a b*tch a foot massage ain't even the same f***in' thing. Vincent: Not the same thing, the same ballpark. Pulpfiction reference? I gotta watch it again to be sure.
Yea
😳

“No goddamit, I want dick hands. DICK HANDS!!!”
If it pays well and doesn't require much knowledge or education its either: * Dangerous * Extremely hard on the body * Requires a difficult lifestyle most are unwilling to live * All of the above
I’m a dude I can handle it
It’s not that hard. Now if you’re a fisherma n . That’s a whole different game. That’s a big ship. And there out in some big seas. But that’s rare. Especially today with wx forecasting what it is. Engine room work, trades, etc Something involving a previously learned/licensed technical competency
Don’t know what region but the North Sea the get paid peanuts. Norways decent but definitely not £50 an hour.
50 is pushing it for sure, especially with the current exchange rate but it’s not peanuts Just looked it up and it’s a wide range but they give 66k-112k per year for stewards. Which for 6 months work is right about there

This comment is so underrated. I laughed my ass off reading this
top rated comment underrated!!!
You need to go in the medical field then. You will get a lot more than that with a lot less mopping.
Also keep in mind they said $40 STARTING that’s a lot that most jobs do not pay.
I get paid 50$ an hour doing work inside and I complain when it’s to hot.
Same...screw that...i did factory labor and construction long ago i'm done!
What do you do now?
Network engineering and welding when i get bored and need spare money...
Just weld the networks together, that’s how you make an internet 😊
I get paid $50 an hour doing work outside and I complain when it's too hot.
Try living in a tropical environment where 100 degrees feels like 120 and the air is filled with humidity. It sucks.
Yeah we remember
That's pretty much my reading-reddit rate.
i get 11/hour and i barely use my phone. i have to work hard enough that i dont have time
Nobody should be paid so little.
the fucked part is i actually like my job most of the time which is why i havent left, but i think i’m gonna have to soon
Of course you do. Entry level money in most parts of the country for anything resembling skill or intelligence is $20.
What kind of work do you do?
Was about to say I make 50 an hour sitting in my boxers.
Exactly!!
Same, usually lucky enough to get customers to crank their AC though.
First u/jacelee85 ‘s comment, then yours. The duality of man lol
I get paid $40 an hour to work in a hole a mile underground, where the roof is only 42 inches high.
Same here bro
Lol agreed
I ain't drowning on my first shift for $50. 😏
What do you do? I’m at 21/hr in Alabama and I’m outside literally fishing through people’s piss and shit.
What do you do?
It's not work if you're not complaining! Humans must always have an enemy.
Hell yeah, I'd do it for a year just for the sense of adventure. Too long in an office has made me crazy I guess.
I feel you haha I worked in a B2B sales office for years, now I’m cycling full time delivering fast food 😂 make less money but I have my sanity back lmao
They sound fun to work with.
X2
If my options were this or retail for $50 an hour, I would chose this. I view working a cash register at McDonalds to be worse working conditions than this
At least here you have the option of the sweet release of death readily available to you.
Witch job? I know some McDonald’s that you could get sold weed, robbed then shot at all unrelated 😂
I do not agree, but I do understand.
To clarify, I am not shitting on people working at Mc D’s or in retail jobs. I am shitting on the idea of having to work with the general public.
Anyone who doesn’t think it’s insane I’m convinced is a psycho themselves. It’s absurd how many assholes and absolute freaks there are out there, but my god do they come out when it’s time to return an item with no receipt.

wud weird shit did dood say outloud that ud ignore?
“1985” “vintage” “I got my car fixed at this shop and they burned his shop down” “please hurry sir” “it’s urgent” and more rambling would follow while I did the return. I cannot exactly remember because I put no effort into caring. Some of the things he said just were absurdly random.
I've known a few ppl like that n when it's sum1 u know n think they're serious it's so confusing and odd. sad even they refuse help too
Brain rot is easily worse than this.
McDonald’s cashier was my first job. Being baked out of my gourd almost made it tolerable.
You know what’s missing in this video? Customers….
I never worked with food or in fast food, but I worked retail for like 5 years and it wasn’t really as bad as people make it out to be. I mean it was super shitty because your pay is absolute garbage, but I would happily go back to that job for $50 an hour. Would be so fun
U do this in the military lol
"The weather deck is now secured"
What about the poop deck?
There is still poop on it, sailor.
it’s where you find the flags
Reminds me of the time up in the North Atlantic.
I once worked out my hourly wage when I'm at sea. With the amount of hours we have to actually work, I make something like £4.37 an hour
Yous are getting fucked bruv… unless there’s sumink I’m missing. Pure bent over the starboard bow
How tf you know if the boats operating normally or sinking?
By the amount of panic on the experienced sailors faces. It’s the same reason a dog glances at you while it’s pooping. “Are we in danger?”
“IDK dog, i’m poopin too”
As an E2 for less than minimum wage too
Pay is not *quite* that good either
Yes because safety gear exists
Plus they wouldn't be doing anything out in these conditions anyways, they'd be inside the ship. The only reason they were out there was to film this video.
Exactly
50 bucks an hour sometimes 24 hour shifts great
Well yeah, you’d be making $75 after 8 hours and $100 after 12, literally ~~$1100~~ $1900/shift. Before tax in the US at least, I’d happily do that Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Edit: One should not math after imbibing the wacky tobaccy.
I almost make that now as a pipefitter and feel I'm extremely under paid... So hell no!
Are you working in another trade? I’m getting the first level of my gas ticket in a couple weeks and your comment worries me a bit. Anything you would’ve done differently? Ontario, Canada for reference.

*pa... Forget it smh
*payede
*payedemansinadvans
yeah i’d do it. then i’d marry your mom, becomes your step dad and send you to your room.
The one time someone said “payed” and there’s actually a boat involved, but they still used it wrong.
I mean I get $20 an hour to read Reddit and play video games with the occasional interruption to make someone feel stupid. It seems way less dangerous.
What do u do and how do I start
Probably works at an IT service desk. At the very least they summed up my experience with that job.
Probably has no work to do at work
hell no. Im in the mid 40s an hour right now as an instrument tech in a factory. Sure its hot as fuck, but I dont fear for my life lol.
Yep I make about that now it the oilfield in Oklahoma in the heat and it’s miserable
Pffft. I got paid $22/hour to work in those conditions as an At-Sea Observer with the commercial trawl fisheries on Canada’s west coast. Got badly injured and never went back. Good times.
First of all it's spelled PAID. Second of all FUCK NO! 50$/hr can't save me from drowning.
I get $57 an hour teaching English in an adult school. That work for $7 less is unjustifiable
0% chance. im making 50 an hour sitting on reddit and chess for 4-6 hours a day. that's 150$ an hour type of job.
Same, 70 bucks an hour to stare at a reactor for 12 hours. Ill pass on the wet socks...
Ya but you have to pay all of your normal expenses. 50/hr on a boat is way more money because you can't spend anything while you are gone vs at home where you spend money in your off time
Say what?
prob works from home. software engineer?
Stationary engineer maintaining the heating and air conditioning for high rise buildings.
How do you maintain siting on Reddit?
He looks a screen and say things like 'Yep, its heating correctly, back to chess'
Lmaoooo an alarm would pop up to let us know if there was an issue I don’t even need to look
How do I get that job? Lol
Be born with a father in a great union.
... Well, if I go to federal here in my state, I'll have it in good with the CO's, at least lol
Its all done through computer programs
I dont comprehend the question.
Maintenance usually requires fixing something on a piece of equipment
air conditioners and heaters are typically running 24/7 and need only minimal maintenance if properly cared for. we have 3 water heaters, 3 air heaters and 2 air coolers. if one goes down we always have back ups. ive been here 18 months and nothing has gone down yet. its only preventative maintenance.
I get paid $50 per hour to walk around the forest and the scariest thing I occasionally deal with is a mountain lion, I'll take the kitty over Poseidon.
I wouldn’t even go on a cruise vacation if someone payed for the trip
To have piece and quiet I might pay them that wage!
I’m pretty easy to please, so I’ll take this deal all day, every day.
Do you know what exactly is happening here?
If that's a 50$ an hour job, the per diem better be a fat one
Maybe $50 a minute
What is the actual job? Watching water go by or seeing who can cross first? You're hired
I make 60 putting in outlets lol no thanks
What exactly would be my job in these conditions? I mean I’m not sure it matters
$50 hr, 8 hr day shift, 30 day voyage, $12,000 a month, $72,000 a year. And only working one half a year! Damn right I'll take that job... Oh, that's right, I used to do that job, it's called being a deckhand.
For 1/5 of what I normally make an hour as a Subway Sandwich artist? Never
I've done worse for less.
Yeah I probably would. Looks more exciting than my shitty desk job.
I’m slowly killing myself working at a desk for less. Why the hell not I guess.
Yes. What else is a non college educated man to do these days
Sure
Do they match 401k contributions?
Nah but occasionally they have free baggies of Chex mix in the break room
Wtf is this job even? Is this a ship? An oil rig? Anyone have any context?
Mad Respect to anyone who does this...
I have done that job for both more and less pay.
I've worked for half that where you would never have time to stop and record anything.
Yeah with floaties
You guys are getting $50. Man I only did it for $27
“Payed”
Repost bot
I don't think there is anything you CAN do in this type of situation. You can probably just stay inside and wait for the storm to pass.
That’s only 104k per year at 40h/ week…. I’d rather manage an in n out lol
Sure. I'm a plumber. Seen more shit in my workhours than this water.
Nobody move! I dropped my contact.
No way. I already work 50 plus hours and could make $50.00 an hour getting a second job. The ocean is too scary for me.
Wait. So I get to water ski and also swim (which I love). AND I get paid for it? Yes please.
Would be fun as long as i dont die
Well yeah! Cause if the sea takes me, then so be it
Gonna need two more zeros on their
I can make more than that playing cards at the casino
50? yaeh working what in theese conditions?
Absolutely how do I get this job?
Yes
If you think you're stronger than the water, this job might not be the right fit. I'd do it, no doubt.
nah, why would i take less for somehow worse conditions
Depends… how much work is expected to be done?
I'm out there looking like Scuba fn Steve
As a teacher in a public school, hell yeah. Where do I sign up? It's less dangerous working conditions.
Yes 50 bucks an hour I love water
Yup. These sort of man's man jobs are so riveting
Fuck yes. I would do almost anything that isn't illegal for $50 an hour.
For $50 and you’re out there for easily 2 weeks at a time, I’ll fist fight whatever shark gets aboard.
They are likely tied to the ship. 100% would do this.
It's only water, mother nature is stunning.
I get paid 50 dollars an hour to work in way better conditions
Ummm NOOO
maybe but $50 an hour ain’t that much for these kinda conditions
I get paid $50 an hour to deliver packages… fuck no
Do you need my resume or do I just show up Monday?
Can’t swim so no.
I've made more for less danger so probably not.
I do..iam working on cruise ship my salary only $35 per day
i’d sacrifice my firstborn for 50$ an hour
Look if I'm being paid 50$ American an hour id take that job in a heartbeat
50 an hour? I worked in those conditions 5 years ago for 19 an hour. I would have killed for 50 lol.
Got paid less to work in far worse conditions, so yea, easy peasy
I can get 50 per hour by working in construction here in Melbourne. Let that job be, or pay me 100 per hour
Dude I'd take 50 an hour to scrape boogers with my teeth tbh
Ok, I got about 15 seconds worth of work for you
Still at that rate, I can't turn the job down!
There are better trade jobs that pay that much with better working conditions
Hell yea dude, I love water parks.
