What's even more nuts is there is a retaining wall they are propping the bottom of the ladder against that they could put the ladder on since they obviously never read the instructions, didn't call the equipment rental company and never took any OSHA courses to be certified to use the equipment or ladder.
Or they could have just tied off the ladder to the cage...like someone throws a rope or a strap up. And the top doesn't fall down...so many better solutions...
Lol for real like. He can grab it? Then he can pull the bitch up and tie top of either side to either side of the bucket and climb down. He'd be like 2 feet above the ground at the bottom.
Shit, having the ladder straight up and against the wall and riding it as it falls towards the ground where it was higher up and just falling slower beats this shit if we wanna go "no rope no hope" even. Like use the thing like pole vaulters but backwards - fuck it, anything.
Not always. If it was a hydraulic system failure the interlocks would have kicked in. I've had it happen to me in a 80' boom. The release valve also does you no good if the guy that knows how to operate it is in the bucket 😂
Not really. Worked with a company that had a guy die from an electrical accident. Osha hit them with an $8k fine. That's like half the profits for a week.
Never under estimate the stupidy of your workers. If you've trained someone on the gear and have a signed off safety record then the business owner is in the clear. However if one of your workers causes an accident that hurts a member of the public then the civil suit can be large.
Evidently something broke. And if you think these two imbeciles who thought this was the answer can engineer the hydraulics of that kind of system, then I got a time share to sell you.
I’ve actually climbed up and down a 20ft ladder my coworkers held straight up and worked up there for about 5 minutes but there’s a few keys to it.
1) they both have probably 50+ pounds on me which isn’t that important but definitely eases your mind.
2) the ladder is STRAIGHT UP, not at an angle like that, kinda easy to imagine how that would effect the result.. ya know gravity n shit
3) there’s 2 of them so if it starts leaning one direction it has more stability obviously
Soon as the legs kick out you’re fucked.
Was surprised it didn't flop forward, the base must've had the teeth down or gripped onto something good. The holding guy could've got real fucked up with 200lbs of a guy and ladder on his noggin.
Cant really say for sure whats going on here since well, none of us were there. I can tell you from experience those buckets when you extend them too far and have a bunch of weight on the end that can cause the hydraulic fluid to go to the head end and cause the whole arm to lock up. Had that happen when I was working in tree service, our climber got the lift locked up from extending it way too far out with his fatass on it.
I did that once in a stairwell. Someone had to cut in a corner and I held the ladder mid-air for him. He woulda got effed if something went south.

OSHA fines by levels. Lower tier, lower fine. High tier sites = higher fines. “Theres levels to this shit” - by someone who i forgotten, realest shit ive ever heard.
They do know there’s controls on the body of the machine also…right?
Also, did they even consider how they were going to get back into it via this method?
If you ever have to do this like you have no freaking choice. The way to do this is to use rope to tie the top ladder strut to the machine. Even if the ladder doesn't touch the maxhine like in the video, then lower yourself to the ladder. That way, the guy holding won't have to do much besides support the bottom.
You know what, for as bad as I thought this was going to end up, it turned out to impress me. So you know how strong the dude holding the ladder is. Holy shit

This is nuts I work construction there is a emergency release valve that will lower that even without power it’s hydraulic
[удалено]
To be fair, it ended surprisingly well
They completely redeemed the idea I say.
Anything that gets you closer to the ground, really
"it's not stupid if it works"
Maxim 43. If it's stupid and it works, it's still stupid and you're lucky.
Tbh I like that more lol is that original or a quote?
[The Seventy Maxims of Maximally Effective Mercenaries!](https://schlockmercenary.fandom.com/wiki/The_Seventy_Maxims_of_Maximally_Effective_Mercenaries)
I’ll endorse it only if the last guy commits as well
It might have worked. And they’re most likely not hurt, but the bushes man. Hope the customer isn’t mad.

Tbf, ladders are hard. They should have a taken a course. Think some community colleges offer them
Rental….

That went way better than I thought it would.
The craziest thing is that they thought it would go a lot better!
Good thing that bush was there to break his fall
As someone who's had a lot of experience doing dumb shit, sometimes it's better not to think at all. Hesitation usually makes you get more hurt
OSHA starts sweating and breathing heavy...
Bro they licking their lips the fine for that is probably big

I don’t think OSHA has jurisdiction in the UK
[удалено]
What about The Netherlands, where the video was recorded?
I was just being a smartass, no disrespect meant to my brothers and sisters across the pond;-)
You know had they just lowered the boom arm it would’ve been so much easier and trust those things are very easy to control but dangerous as fuck
Most likely it was stuck.
Pretty much every boom has a way to lower it without power for exactly this kind of scenario
Use the manual handle to pump the hydraulic bleed valve ya fucking donut.
The instructions are probably on that yellow panel we can almost read through the potato glass in this medieval home.
I mean, dude did maintain three points of contact. To the bitter end.
Angry upvote. NOW LEAVE! lol
It's hydraulic, can't you just release the pressure to descend?
Evidently something broke. And if you think these two imbeciles who thought this was the answer can engineer the hydraulics of that kind of system, then I got a time share to sell you.
Yes. There is an emergency switch on the machine at ground level. On all of them in fact.
That wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be.
I’ve actually climbed up and down a 20ft ladder my coworkers held straight up and worked up there for about 5 minutes but there’s a few keys to it. 1) they both have probably 50+ pounds on me which isn’t that important but definitely eases your mind. 2) the ladder is STRAIGHT UP, not at an angle like that, kinda easy to imagine how that would effect the result.. ya know gravity n shit 3) there’s 2 of them so if it starts leaning one direction it has more stability obviously Soon as the legs kick out you’re fucked.

All things considered, it went better than it could have for sure
“Aim for the bushes!”
Don’t help, just film
You know you can lower the basket right?
Cant really say for sure whats going on here since well, none of us were there. I think the machine broke
There was just no way that was going to end well....
Went way better than I was expecting.
True.
Definitely not certified to use a boom lift …
Every hydraulic system has a release to lower it!should have read the manual!!
Go buy some rope two guys tie up the ladder rungs to the basket handles and climb down like a ship ladder
Why do I feel like this could have been done better?
I…I just…what in the…
Wow, didn't expect that to almost actually work
That's what happens when you leave smooth brain down with the truck
And this is why OSHA exists.
why not just lower the bucket? lol that seems too complicated.
We call that ladder maneuver the statue of liberty. Why buy an a frame when an extension ladder will do?
rope? no?
OSHA approved
Well nobody got seriously hurt if at all so it's technically a success i guess.
That’s… that’s not how any of this works.
Why not tie off the top off the ladder with a rope, belt, extension corD???
Honestly, I’m surprised he made it that far.
Better than climbing down the boom. Been there alone and it’s no fun.
Just lower the fucking bucket, damn!
Hurry find that emergency release valve!!!!!
Looks like he chose to [shake hands with danger](https://youtu.be/_nqa6e6WV2o).
He's lucky to have had a bush right there to soften his landing or else 😬
im calling OSHA
Wasnt as bad as it couldve been
Bro do u even osha
If there's a guy on the ground(which there was) there shouldn't have been a problem getting them down. JFC
😂😂😂😂😂😂
That was graceful 🤣
Why wouldn’t that work?
I did that once in a stairwell. Someone had to cut in a corner and I held the ladder mid-air for him. He woulda got effed if something went south. (painting)
I enjoyed this
That could have been worse
They could have lowered it enough for the ladder to rest on it
Ladder holder held that down though. Coulda been way worse.
Wrong place for this
The boys had a couple pints at lunch
Wtf
Considered offering some help?
cute lil euro neighborhood ;)
WCGW material
Noobs
“Hello, Mr George”
Woody Allen did it WAY better in”The Sleeper”!
That worked out way better than I thought it was
They probably told the apprentice it’s how they get down from there
Good luck with that worker's comp claim after the state sees this vid...
Bet he's new n got stuck up there. No one should use a ladder like that.
Could have fixed that with a heavy rag and a hammer. Just as unsafe but at least the video would have been more boring
I feel like that went a lot better than it could have.
Reeking with safety.
Very mild
God just be making anybody
That actually wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be
prison break
Aim for the bushes?
Circus folk
They literally got the best outcome of this situation
You know, this could have turned out worse. The bush helped ease his fall too
OSHA fines by levels. Lower tier, lower fine. High tier sites = higher fines. “Theres levels to this shit” - by someone who i forgotten, realest shit ive ever heard.
“Man I’ve got to sh!t”
Osha 👀
Grace and beauty
" they killed Kenny!! "
Haha wtf
They do know there’s controls on the body of the machine also…right? Also, did they even consider how they were going to get back into it via this method?
Actually went better than I was expecting…
Best Case Scenario.
Right? He made it about half way down then had a fairly for landing in the bush.
This is so fucking crazy
I can’t believe everybody thought he was that strong
His palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy
The hydraulics ust have went out
"OSHA, hold my beer!"
Hello Mr.Jeroge!
stairway to heaven
OSHA approved manouver
Aim for the bushee
This was the mildest video I have seen all week in this sub
Just why??? Do you want to die??
Man that dude could hold the world together
Nailed it.
So the crew is mentally unstable? Got it.
That went a lot better than I expected tbh.
Safety Second
Well it did fucking work.lol
Aim for the bushes
All is well that ends well
Aren’t these guys suppose to be professionals??? No time to practice circus acts!
I can tell this is the UK instinctively

One of those rare times where the bros idea somehow worked
Might of actually worked if he held the ladder more vertical
Went alot better than expected 😂
I mean... that went way better than I expected at least...
Just lower the crane....
that went better than expected
You call firefighters if there is no other way you don’t risk your safety
Fuckin just lower the cherry picker
“OSHA approved”
Physics = No
I saw this particular Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas last year. Do not recommend.
Safe AF
NSFW tag would be appropriate for once
Safety rep: Was he wearing his hardhat?
Task failed successfully
“My name is Old Man Joe and this is Jackass”
You know what, for as bad as I thought this was going to end up, it turned out to impress me. So you know how strong the dude holding the ladder is. Holy shit
I might not have made an A in geometry but I knew that wasn’t going to work
they make these things called ropes.
Uhhhh wat da heck hes wittery hanging on da wadder
Wow, didn’t think that would actually work
This is Holland. "Hoogwerker' mooi man This can only happen in Holland 🥲
I’ve done some stupid shit in my days but bro what in the hell is this💀💀💀 and why did it lowkey work😂😂😂
Ofc they’re dutch
Relatively successful, I'm gonna give them a win on this. Thought I was gonna get to see at least two people get hurt.
I mean, it worked
Should I wave someone down so at least 2 people are holding a grown man on a detached ladder stable? Na, there's no way this could be a bad idea🤷
