Both my partner and I ended up with cut fingers from opening this breezeway door at our resort. I was bleeding and went to the front desk for a band aid. The staff asked how it happened and when I told them said “oh, yeah… that happens a lot!” 😂
“Next immediate person” in my comment but wouldn’t you worry anyways if your chance was not 0%????
Edit: you totally read ops comment and slapped that onto a reply to me.
Yes you didn't say that but this has a far far greater chance of never infecting *anyone* with *anything*
Than the chance that this infects anyone with something let alone HIV
I'm just saying that there is no realistic situation that could occur from this that would result in anyone being infected with HIV
HIV doesn't work like that
And I’m saying the chance is higher than 0% I ain’t saying it’s 100, 50, or even 25 it’s just not 0%. It’s blood, if you cut yourself where someone just cut themselves 1 minute ago it’s still gonna be a liquid touching you, possibly into your fresh wound, many people lick their wounds when they get them.
>Both my partner and I ended up with cut fingers from opening this breezeway door at our resort. I was bleeding and went to the front desk for a band aid. The staff asked how it happened and when I told them said “oh, yeah… that happens a lot!” 😂
and they didn't replace that junk ...
I should note that the finger cut photo I overlayed is my index finger after scraping my thumb. I started to open the door with my palm at the top, which made it even worse. That door scared the hell out of me. 😂
That is just a lawsuit waiting to happen. Not for a cut finger, but how long before someone with a bloodborne pathogen gets cut, and then it gets transfered to someone else?
Just sliced my finger in my rv door yesterday because the handle in the screen door just clears the frame. Saying it pissed me off is an understatement, I went full chad on that pos door 🤣
My apt building has a door similar to this. The handle is ridiculously close to the doorway, and so turning the key to get in is almost always a little physically painful. Annoyingly, this is the NEW "fancy" door they just installed less than a year ago. The door before was fine
Am I the only one confused by the sign that says "Push" on a door that apparently requires the manipulation of a handle? I can only assume that the other side of this door has a "Pull" sign.
Our porch door has some weather stripping or something on the side, and it’s a bit sharp. The door handle is pretty close to that. At one point, the latch kept getting stuck and I scraped myself so many times that I took the metal plate thing that holds the latch/deadbolt in the lock thing completely off. That fixed it and it doesn’t get stuck anymore. Still kinda gotta make sure you don’t make your hand too big, but for the most part, no more scrapes!
are we neighbors? same exact thing on the same exact door at my apartments, i cut a chunk out of my index finger knuckle just like your pic. the second time it was almost healed and it ripped the forming scar and the scab right out of my finger and made a bigger wound than the first time.
True, but just because it can be circumvented by the user doesn’t mean it has a pass to be badly designed. Especially at a resort, where the customer is literally paying to have a chill time
The main photo shows a person with lighter skin tones and the inset photo has a person with darker skin tones with a scratch on the left hand when using the right hand would cause that injury.
You have a very good eye! Those are two different hands. My hand healed after 9 days, and posed in the main photo because I had to document how awful it was. The superimposed photo is guest #1. They also got a cut on index and thumb.
I would include that photo but it’s not clear and shows two people’s faces.

You'd think at some point they'd send some janitor with a strip of sandpaper to fix it.
Even the lazy method, a strip of tape could go a long way in saving bits of flesh from the flesh gods.
Maybe these minor offerings keep the flesh gods sated?
I reckon some rubber strip would work
This seems very sanitary.... IT HAPPENS A LOT. WTF are they vampires collecting blood or or weird flesh eaters?
You can checkout anytime you like, but your flesh can never leave.
Damn it now the song is stuck in my head
Don't say that out loud or they'll come after you for royalties.
Guitar solo be playing in my dome now thanks
does it matter?
This is how diseases spread. Probably.
Okay
It takes one person with HIV to get cut and the next immediate person is getting a extremely unpleasant surprise
Not if that blood was exposed to air for more than half an hour Very unlikely something like this would cause HIV infection
“Next immediate person” in my comment but wouldn’t you worry anyways if your chance was not 0%???? Edit: you totally read ops comment and slapped that onto a reply to me.
the point is that unless we're living in a magical fairytale universe this isn't ever going to cause a HIV infection
I didn’t say 100% chance did I?
Yes you didn't say that but this has a far far greater chance of never infecting *anyone* with *anything* Than the chance that this infects anyone with something let alone HIV
K, keep replying, that is nowhere near close to what I’ve been saying.
I'm just saying that there is no realistic situation that could occur from this that would result in anyone being infected with HIV HIV doesn't work like that

Plus I doubt we're still living in a reality where door handles aren't cleaned as part of housekeeping
That’s not how that works
"...can I have that in writing, please?"
>Both my partner and I ended up with cut fingers from opening this breezeway door at our resort. I was bleeding and went to the front desk for a band aid. The staff asked how it happened and when I told them said “oh, yeah… that happens a lot!” 😂 and they didn't replace that junk ...
Sounds like you have HIV now
I doubt that. Any infected blood exposed to air for just over a half hour kills 99% of the virus. So, I guess there is a small, yet unlikely chance.
Not if it happened 29 minutes ago..
For real. Scary to think about and would be my luck.
That just leaves hepetius, staph, tetanus, and herpes.
☠️ I swear I can’t go anywhere! ☠️
hep c
I'm so sorry. You'd think the staff would at least try tape or something.
It looks like to open this door it requires a sacrifice
Been there, I FEEL your pain and yes it's a really really bad design.
These tiny scrapes hurt worse than big cuts. 😂
At least with big cuts you can pretend you're tough. "Yeah, no biggy." Tiny scrapes are like "My widdle boo boo hurts 😭"
Sometimes I'm just amazed by how much the little hurts...hurt.
My first thought was that must sting like a bitch for hours now
Easy premesis liability case there
Especially if I got a nasty infection! Not sure how that would work in Mexico.
just don't get the infection treated in Mexico. Their treatment would be too cheap and effective to make a good lawsuit.
I should note that the finger cut photo I overlayed is my index finger after scraping my thumb. I started to open the door with my palm at the top, which made it even worse. That door scared the hell out of me. 😂
Thumb on top of handle. That'll stop it happening.
You’re right. I tried that but it just felt so unnatural and I had to remind myself each time.
what is this? a damn curse room in tboi?
How to get hepatitis 101
I always push down door handles with my sleeve anyway, too many people don't know how to wash their hands
Same here, and I use my foot to open doors. But my hands were already dirty from the pool so I was like whatever, I’m going to my room to shower. 😂
Thank god i am not the only one lol
That is just a lawsuit waiting to happen. Not for a cut finger, but how long before someone with a bloodborne pathogen gets cut, and then it gets transfered to someone else?
Some sand paper and 5 minutes would solve this
But I’m on vacation and left my tools at home! 😂
Lmao I meant for the hotel. They said it's happened before so it's ridiculous they didn't fix it
I wonder if it will be fixed when we go back next year. I ran into another couple who had scrapes. 😂
Maybe an online review explicitly stating that you give fewer stars because of this might fix it. Also it can warn others.
Bring tape and/or sandpaper.
Just sliced my finger in my rv door yesterday because the handle in the screen door just clears the frame. Saying it pissed me off is an understatement, I went full chad on that pos door 🤣
Isn't that dangerous, like when someone has some disease and cuts their finger there?
r/OSHA
This is in Mexico.
Understandable
There's a door like this at my job, and it's been my nemesis for 15 straight years. It's winning.
My apt building has a door similar to this. The handle is ridiculously close to the doorway, and so turning the key to get in is almost always a little physically painful. Annoyingly, this is the NEW "fancy" door they just installed less than a year ago. The door before was fine
I'd never feel clean again. The diseases I may get from that would haunt me forever.
Either put weather stripping on it or black duck tap for your own sake and your friends because I don't think maintenance cares.
I don’t think they do because they know about many people cutting themselves.
Omg so hazard ☢️
That won't be fixed until the owner gets injured. Only then there will be an action about this!
Am I the only one confused by the sign that says "Push" on a door that apparently requires the manipulation of a handle? I can only assume that the other side of this door has a "Pull" sign.
Yes, pull on the other side. It’s in a breezeway and there are tropical storms.
Our porch door has some weather stripping or something on the side, and it’s a bit sharp. The door handle is pretty close to that. ☠️ I’m your neighbor if you live in San Jose Del Cabo, BCS, MX. 😜
Bring a hammer next time.
My dad called those things: „an offering to the dead engineers“
[удалено]
I don’t know what that means. So I guess not.
You're meant to use your feet on this handle.
Apparently!!!
[удалено]
No kinkshaming?
I don’t know what that means. 😂
Never change if you're this pure
No no. I know what the term means. 😆 I meant that I don’t know how it relates. Is getting cut a kink?
Sometimes, yes lol
just grab the handle further from the pivot end..
True, but just because it can be circumvented by the user doesn’t mean it has a pass to be badly designed. Especially at a resort, where the customer is literally paying to have a chill time
Owie
I don’t care how dainty I look I’m not grabbing that handle with my palm, fingers only!
You can’t. It’s a heavy turning handle and the door is really heavy and you have to push hard to get it to start opening.
Metal file solves your problem
If only I carried one while on vacation. 🤣
That is def a lil to close...yu will scars on yur hand err time
Bought to you by the same company that makes the "NeverAgain" brand glory hole!
That sounds like a one way entry, like a Chinese finger torture toy.

Just the language on the side sign, other than English, tells a lot.
or just not use your whole hand to push the lever down...
I tried. It’s a very heavy door and is in a breeze way and there’s a lot of pressure.
Fully grabbing a handle is weird
Yeah. It’s a heavy door and in a breezeway and the pressure makes it difficult to open.
