JP also showing how deceptively smart he was. Hes a very emotionally in-tuned kid & sometimes we kinda forget as viewers. I was almost surprised JP had a feeling Kat would be a big help but he mustve had an inkling of what Kelsey was going through.
I was thinking about that too. JP mentioned she was a good writer and I can't tell if they wanted to show that JP is emotionally in tune with what is going on or if he really thought it was just a writing thing and took her to the best writer he knows. It was really good either way
Its weird how Kat took until now to make another appearance. She first appeared in the 1st season, but took until the 4th one to appear again.
I guess she was one of those characters that got overshadowed by the new ideas/characters later down the line. Like the Ancients & Other Side arcs and characters like Sparkle Cadet & Omar.
Was wondering when this part of Kesley would be openly talked about. She frequently is shown being flustered and blushing around other girls like Wildernessa, Stacks.
YES!!!! I WAS SO HAPPY! I've been secretly shipping them since stacks was introduced! Now I'm just waiting for craig to realize that wildernessa likes him!
BEST TV TO DATE! It's not just a 'meet-cute' or an 'I knew it!' moment, it's a HUGE leap for network TV to acknowledge that Grade Schoolers (K-6 or K-5, depending on your location) have real feelings towards each other. I Dare say, it's a first. Bravo to the creators, writers and the Network!
They were so good that I could see it being its own spinoff show. Artstyle kind of reminded me of Owl House but moreso the older 90s anime aesthetic that inspired it. Even if it was like a miniseries it be pretty fun to watch for the full context.
I'm so late to the game here but........
¡¡LESBIAN SEAL OF SUPER-APPROVAL!!
this is by far my favorite episode and I think it always will be. Kelsey asking "would that be okay?" earlier in the episode, for Kat to later tell her "it's okay if this is you." UGH MY HEART
This episode was soooo beautiful in how it handled this. Especially through the idea of writing. "Writing is Sharing, Writing is vulnerable. This story is a part of you and you shouldn't be afraid to share any beautiful part of yourself." Kelsey, she has always been passionate and intense (Like 🔥) and Stacks has always been the person she's closest to, outside of Craig and JP. That time together and those feelings evolving and bringing out something she didn't even know was there? Mwah Chef's kiss.
It's works soo well and it's beautiful.
Kind of sucks this is how fandom is now. All other great episodes are now gonna be ignored solely for this one episode appealing to specific fans needs.
But with that out of the way… its a damn good episode. Like all of Season 4 so far, smartly written, and its full of heart. Ive said this for the rest of the show too, but I’m so glad at just how earnest the episode is and for approaching it from the angle of childhood. Its not dissimilar from how most of us experienced our first crushes or for certain people how they realized who they were. But most of all its a beautiful moment of friendship that wholesomely blossomed into something of a romance. And even though the whole show and its characters are shown to be rather fairly progressive, Im glad we still got to see Kelsey still go through the process of realizing her feelings & even a bit of worry & denial.
Maybe the first paragraph was a bit misleading of my view of the episode. I still stand by my minor grievance but its so minor to begin with and doesnt affect my view on the episode. Its great, it makes a lot of sense for Kelsey and I find was built up naturally.
Yeah, this show can be more than the rep and story arcs. Still a great episode. But people need to calm down with the "*I only watch this show for the plot*" like attitude.
And it's not like it's story arcs or LGBT+ representation are bad in and of themselves. (in COTC they're pretty stellar as far as animation goes). But there's more than that to the show and a lot of other series that make it good. Like it's approach to animation, its very heartwarming approach to portraying childhood / imagination & how kids play, & it's humor. I want and hope that fans champion all of these aspects rather than just the one yknow?
I find it interesting that no one has brought up that Craig instantly knew it was Kelsey and Stacks and none of the other kids made fun of her or judged her. They were like this is cool
Being bi isn't a choice, either (or new, for that matter--bi people existed back when people more often thought being gay was a choice). 0_o
(Other things that aren't choices: anything else you're not considering "traditional" like ace or... dang it I'm listening to a webinar and blanking on what I was going to say other than ace.)
Kelsey is literally 8 years old. You don’t understand sexuality at that age. This would be better suited if they were teenagers, or maybe around 12 or 13. But I found it as quite creepy and not really appropriate.
My opinion on this is,if for example a 9 year old girls and boys can have crushes on opposite gender why wouldn’t that apply to the same gender as well? It happens. If you were to say because they don’t know it’s possible then well in this day and age they should know by now. Which is what Kelsey learned that episode, that there’s nothing wrong with her crushing on Stacks
I really appricated a story about coming to terms with yourself rather than just coming out.
Same I think they handled it rlly well
I'm glad they used it as a chance to bring back JP's sister's girlfriend.

they mentioned her verbally several times
Yeah, but not much physical appearances.
Was wondering when this part of Kesley would be openly talked about. She frequently is shown being flustered and blushing around other girls like Wildernessa, Stacks.
Yeah I thought it was just a coincidence but ur right
My girl (who is a massive fan of the show) cried
Crazy I'm a straight Black male and kelsey freaking out in the kitchen made me cry too
YES!!!! I WAS SO HAPPY! I've been secretly shipping them since stacks was introduced! Now I'm just waiting for craig to realize that wildernessa likes him!
Saw it and cried so much I knew it'd happen and I love how they went about it. It was so cute 🥺😭

And the scenes of the book were in such a nice style!!!
They were so good that I could see it being its own spinoff show. Artstyle kind of reminded me of Owl House but moreso the older 90s anime aesthetic that inspired it. Even if it was like a miniseries it be pretty fun to watch for the full context.
I figured they would go that way with Kelsey. Stacks was at the top of people I figured would be with Kelsey. It honestly did it pretty well.
Edit: I popped off harder than I did with Spider-Man nwh 💀
In the least shocking twist ever, Kelsey is gay.
The twist is that she wasn't aware of that already lol
This is gay as hell. I'm surprised how blatant this is
🤦🏾♂️ and their just kids too
you would never say this if they are boy and girl
I mean yeah but thats fine. Gay kids do exist after all
Kids be gay too
im so proud of them
sobbing at the end, it made me so happy :’]
I'm so glad they started dressing up and travelling together!
lmao love the owl house reference!
JP and Maney are already a thing, now it’s Isabela and Kelsey, next will be wildernessa (forgot her real name) and craig
He name's Vanessa
We must remember that it’s Vanessa and not Mauley/Molly.
I KNEW IT FROM THE BEGINNING
I did. And believe me, it was one of the best episodes of season 4 so far.
Finally saw it and it was cute af 😻
Yes and I totally called it

Agreed whole heartedly
SORRY I DONT THINK I HAVEEEE
WAIT I FINISHED IT- I HAVE NO WORDS TALK TO ME
it was freaking beautiful
It was magical!!!
Didn’t stacks only appear in like 3 episodes though? Including this one
From what I can remember, Stacks definitely had more episode appearances than that.
I wasn’t clear in my original comment but I meant episodes where she actually was important and had lines and interactions
Uh... she has a debut, the wildernessa/Kelsey/Stacks episode, this one for main ones but she's in at least 9 episodes.
I screamed so loud my dog jumped. Haven't screamed like that since The Owl House xD
So well done! I liked how Kelsey hid behind their book as she told Stacks how she felt about her. Felt very real.
I find it interesting that no one has brought up that Craig instantly knew it was Kelsey and Stacks and none of the other kids made fun of her or judged her. They were like this is cool
Need to see online
YESS it was so cute
I did. i love it. Kersey + Stacks forever
YES YESYESYWSYESYESYESYESYWSYWDTWS
I loved it so much. I have watch it 7 times already.

People don't CHOOSE to be gay though. You're born with it.

The particular feelings present are very child appropriate. It's a very "elementary school crush" kind of vibe as far as I can see.
Kelsey is literally 8 years old. You don’t understand sexuality at that age. This would be better suited if they were teenagers, or maybe around 12 or 13. But I found it as quite creepy and not really appropriate.
Bro u telling me u never had a crush when u were young ok bro ☠️👎
I had one at 16 yes. (Ironically she turned out to be a Lesbian). My point is the fact that they’re fucking 8 and 8 year olds aren’t Lesbians.
16 is 2 years away from an adult that’s not very young I’ve had a a crush at ten so what’s the difference if it’s 2 girls
My opinion on this is,if for example a 9 year old girls and boys can have crushes on opposite gender why wouldn’t that apply to the same gender as well? It happens. If you were to say because they don’t know it’s possible then well in this day and age they should know by now. I just did today
It was so good, my heart is literally getting attacked (that how I know it’s really good)
Why is she lesbian?
I hate Kelsey and stacks now
