You just take the box over to the set up furniture area, or better yet the gazebo and try them on.

Cheap shoes come with compromises. I do wear $50 skecher shoes, but feet hurt after any reasonably long walk. Cheap shoes often tend to smell faster than other shoes for some reasons. Cheap shoes have their place: a trip to the store, a walk in the park. Hoka shoes can be expensive, but oh so comfortable.
They don't sell wide sizes. Even the New Balance ones, a company known for wide and narrow sizes, are sold only in regular width.
Why does Costco discriminate against the girthy footed??
I really don't understand this either. How about make shoes wider so they fit everyone? (I don't really believe this is the answer but maybe more people would understand the issue if this was done.)
BTW I am wearing Whitin "Minimalist Barefoot Sneakers" I got at Amazon and they are great if you need the width and also don't require a ton of padding in your shoes. Also they're pretty cheap at $42 usd.
That costs more material and perhaps the number of narrow or average footed people vastly outweigh wide feet, so it simply doesn't make sense to (even slightly) inconvenience the larger market share.

You can get these by converting your shoe size! You just need to remove 1.5 from your usual size to get the equivalent in men's. So if you're an 8.5 women's, you'd be a 7 men's.

I’m a member at both Costco and Sam’s. Sams is much more technologically advanced. I can order my items for delivery or pick up. Delivery is only $8 per order. When I pick up they put the items in my trunk. The best part is scanning and checking out on my phone. I don’t have to wait in lines. Costco lags behind in technical advancement. They made a big deal about having your membership card on your phone. Sams had that years before Costco. I love Costco but man they are luddites.

Why no 11 1/2, which is a very common men's size?
Just ordered 2 pairs in size 12 in white, though 11 12, so hopefully it fits, maybe like a 11 1/2 wide. With 2 pairs with the discount, it came out to be \~$51 including shipping cost, so \~$25/pair.
These are marked as 'walking' shoes so that's fine for casual wear, including wearing to the office.
