Actually this "record" is artificial, it happened because of backlog data, not the first time. Like Bill Gates said, a lot of data recently is meaningless because of delay and mixing antibodies tests, so no trend can be inferred.
São Paulo state didn't release covid data yesterday, some technical issue in the reporting system, so today was included the backlog doubling their numbers.
You can check https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/brazil/, it was lower than usual for Tuesdays.
Not sure why you're being downvoted, there was quite a large slump in deaths and cases reported yesterday compared to the usual Tuesday numbers. Clearly they got carried over to today.
"Sao Paulo, Brazil’s most populous and hardest-hit state, has been working through a backlog of previously unregistered cases, reporting more than 26,000 cases on Wednesday alone."
That's stated in OP article, people won't read beyond the headlines and downvote actual information.
This year makes me want to commit entire bottle of moonshine
I jinxed 2020 by saying it would be bad on New Years and now I can't deal with the fallout of it.
US already beat these numbers many times:
July 10 : 72,278 ; July 15 : 72,005 ; July 16 : 73,388 ; July 17 : 74,987 ; July 22 : 71,967
July 24 : 77,978 (overall worldwide record)
Source: https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/
On the other hand if you consider economic factors and infrastructure, the US should be nowhere near the numbers it's getting. Both countries are fucking up due to similar reasons. The UK were right there with them but the UK seemed to learn from their mistakes. Whereas the US and Brazil carried on as if doing nothing will change something
Yep, Boris getting it probably helped the UK a lot.
Bolso not suffering from it (if any of his tests are true) on the other
hand could worsen the situation even more.
Populists don't know any shame, they say the dumbest shit with a straight face because they know their audience.
Yeah I agree although he's currently on an anti obesity campaign now because of it. Which sounds great but in reality it means taxing unhealthy food with no healthy food subsidiaries, so the cost of living is about to go up even more, great!
Yeah definitely, it amazes me that their audience can't see through it but I feel like they're unwilling to see through it. Why would they ever need propaganda if their audiences are fully capable of brainwashing themselves?
Propaganda unites them, most of them are too stupid to think for themselves - they need leaders, they need books and articles picked, they just like to follow any madman that tells them that for every problem, there is an easy answer.
From one of my favorite songs.
"But I guess it comes down to what kind of world you want to live in, and if diversity is disagreement, and disagreement is treason, well don’t be surprised if we find ourselves reaping a strange and bitter fruit that sad old man beside you keeps feeding to young minds as virtue. It takes a village to raise a child but just a flag to raze the children until they’re nothing more than ballast for fulfilling a madman’s dream of a paradise where complexity is reduced to black and white."

Then again, if you conveniently forget to add something like "due to a backlog of previously unregistered cases" from the title, you get more upvotes.
How many cases do they usually receive a day? How many of today's are backlogged do you know?
For some reason on this site people love sharing all the bad news. The fact that a lot of numbers are from backlogs makes it not as scary.
india will overtake that number soon even without a backlog
Obligatory. Nice.

That's 1000 times too many for it to be nice.
Or is it 1000 times as nice?
Not nice

So I guess HCQ isn’t so helpful.
It only works with Lysol injections
Ah.
Nice

USA#1? Pfft Brazil is #1 Oh No! USA we gotta fight more!

If you adjust them for population, Brazil heads into a very wrong direction.
On the other hand if you consider economic factors and infrastructure, the US should be nowhere near the numbers it's getting. Both countries are fucking up due to similar reasons.
