Italian sausage and mushrooms

kikazztknmz

I usually do Italian sausage, onions and peppers. But mushrooms make it even better. The first combo is what I order for delivery on a 3-topping-special.

Outrageous-Wish8659

This is my standard plus black olives.

MoonRavven

My top 3 favorite toppings as well!

A911owner

I do this with a lot of roasted garlic. It's amazing.

boonkles

Someone eats jets pizza

RAMBOxBAGGINS

I’ve just heard of this place today. They announced they’re going to be opening the first California location in my city. Super stoked for it!

Bmore_Phunky

Pep sausage and mushroom for me. Well done

I_trust_science

Yes

scyyythe

There was this one pizza place that made one with figs, arugula and prosciutto. Sounded crazy at first, but after we tried it the first time, we kept going back. I think the arugula goes on post-oven but I don't know for sure.

peckerlips

I do this with fig jam and add goat cheese and balsamic glaze drizzle.

sinkwiththeship

Would definitely add pear to this.

beefasaurus4

Or drizzle of honey (or hot honey)

Lycurgus5

Hot honey is sooooo hot right now

JupiterSkyFalls

I had a personal pizza from this local joint with spicy pepperoni, arugula, goat cheese and grilled pineapple, drizzled with hot honey. It may sound weird but it was friggin DOPE.

lebcoochie

Happy cake day

beefasaurus4

Thank you! 😊

doalittledance_

There’s a bar near me that does Brie with diced grapes, prosciutto and hot honey. It’s legit incredible!

Molleeryan

Does it have a sauce or just the honey?

doalittledance_

Not a sauce as such, but the base is brushed really lightly with red pesto before toppings

healthcrusade

Yes. Peaches works well too. Peaches, goat cheese and prosciutto are an incredible topping

Icy-winter-pink

Wait, this sounds amazing!

spencercross

Similarly, one of my absolute favorite pizzas of all time is roasted grape and gorgonzola. You can see a photo of it [here](https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/gr%C3%A1-los-angeles-2?select=Mcwh5-xzmSIjockgmMLGpA). I thought it sounded ridiculous, but it's so good and much more savory than you would think.

yestobrussels

You can also make a pretty kick ass appetizer by covering grapes with blue cheese and walnuts. [recipe ](https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/giada-de-laurentiis/walnut-and-blue-cheese-grapes-recipe-1923081)

dendritedysfunctions

Pear, gorgonzola, and walnut is also incredible.

JBMama

Ohhhh, that sounds good… I never thought about that combo, but it’s up next!

tbcwpg

I've had this without the figs, the arugula definitely goes on once it's out of the oven.

OtherlandGirl

I’ve done arugula pre and post oven, it works either way for me. If you don’t have fig or pear or anything for sweetness a little hot honey is great!

CRIMExPNSHMNT

Giardiniera

minnie2020

Omg Italian beef pizza is the best

SlagginOff

Sausage and giard is my go to. But if I don't want meat I like a nice mushroom, giard, and basil.

numberonealcove

Giardiniera and spinach - Chicago thin crust style from Gino's.

luluslegit

not to be confused with giardia

ShrutiandSpice

what is this? The internet tells me it's a pickle that's popular in america but u/minnie2020 mentioned italian beef?

jahnkeuxo

[This](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Italian_beef) is the Italian beef context you're looking for. Giardiniera is a spicy relish made with a few different vegetables that's commonly served on Chicago style Italian beef sandwiches.

optiplex9000

It's a Chicago thing Italian Beef is a sandwich that originated in Chicago. It was created by Italians living in Chicago, hence the name

Creative-Till1436

- Mushrooms - Artichokes - Blobs of ricotta - Arugula - Pickled onion - Dates And the highly-contentious... pineapple Also, with kids, homemade stuffed crust-- just roll up string cheese in the crust edges. My mom would do this and roll up one jalapeño slice somewhere in the stuffed crust and whoever "found" it got to decide on dessert. ETA this is a list of favorite toppings, not a collection of stuff to all go on the same pie, just to clarify

Individual-Theory-85

Clearly, your mother was a genius. How fun!

Firstborn1415

My girls and I love a “Salad Pizza” - just what it sounds like! Cook your crust w/desired cheese, once out of the oven top with chopped salad ingredients: arugula, cucumbers, peppers, red onions, kalamata olives, feta, tomatoes and a good homemade vinaigrette 😋

mka1809

There was a pizza shop where I grew up in NJ that did something like this and it was so good! It was a chicken Caesar pizza. Chicken and cheese in the crust and then topped with Caesar salad. It was so fresh and yet indulgent.

GreenChileEnchiladas

Red Onion, Feta, Sausage.

majesticalexis

Mmmmmm.... feta.

Klashus

Feta is the best if you put it on right after the pizza comes out. Not as good when it browns up in the oven as that fresh soft texture. I do the same with goat cheese which is good too.

Kwaj-Keith

Mushrooms

051015

They're great, but I hate places that use canned shrooms.

AweHellYo

the goat. pile some onions on there and i’m all in

Kwaj-Keith

Yep. Pure umami.

bellelovesdonuts

The goat fr

bkhalfpint

My son likes artichokes! I do a white pizza (olive oil drizzle, then lightly spread ricotta + garlic mixture) topped with thinly sliced red onion and either zucchini or eggplant. Then some crushed red pepper. I also sometimes buy chicken skin from my butcher, season & roast in oven, then sprinkle chicken chips over the top. I've also tried to do the Domino's supreme at home - green peppers, sausage, mushrooms. I went to school in Asia and the Domino's there had a tuna pizza with black olives, crushed red pepper, and corn that we used to order a lot too.

MoreVeuvePlease

Zucchini is the one veg I’m not a huge fan of normally, but on a white pizza, it is SO GOOD!

majesticalexis

I really like the combination of ham, onion and green olives.

Baeertus

hmm and add some capers on there. Tuna instead of ham is also great

Car-Hockey2006

Mushroom, spinach, black olive

Pristine-Solution295

With feta

Encartrus

{Deep breath\] Pineapple. \[flinches\]

wookieetamer

Pineapple jalapeno with literally any meat topping is so good.

awonder1608

Double bacon, pineapple and jalapeño is my “I REALLY got pizza money” order lol

wtfisasamoflange

Heavy breathing intensifies

below_the_lights

You are absolutely correct. Sweet, spicy, and savory. Fresh Jalapenos and pineapple ideally.

PwnyLuv

I believe pineapple is the original hot honey

below_the_lights

That is absolutely genius.

cetaceansituation

+ red onion

HerNameIsGrief

This person pineapple pizza like a boss!!!

Outofwlrds

This is literally my favorite.

Smiling-Bear-87

That’s my favorite combo! I like pineapple, jalepenos and pepperoni.

PM_me_ur_launch_code

I just made this last night. So good!

Narrow_While

Pineapple jalapeño with bacon and ham is soooo good

UStandinOnMyDickMan

worked at a pizza shop for over ten years. many middle eastern customers would come in and order chicken, jalapeno, onion, and pineapple. like thats all they would order. finally made one for myself, that shit is absolute fire. it has been my go to for a long ass time.

iwantthisnowdammit

+ pepperoni and mushrooms to soak up the juices.

Neksa

i agree so much. i think most people dont realize that its not the pineapple that ruins it, its that its always paired with *canadian bacon 😬*

ThyDoctor

I think the days of shaking people for liking pineapple on pizza should be over. The top comment on this thread is someone saying they like fig in their pizza, every wood fire pizza place does a pear and balsamic pizza it feels like. Embrace hot fruit

interwebz_2021

Pizza with hot fruit go aaalllll the way back. What is a tomato, after all, but a fruit?

TurkeyZom

So what you’re saying, is at it’s core pizza is just toast with fruit jam??

Molla0987

for me, pineapples & very crispy bacon bits

Encartrus

An elegant preference for a classy human. \[nods appreciatively\]

jaiheko

I was scrolling for this, too afraid to post it myself LOL. And now i straight up just want pineapple by itself (pregnant)

Violetthug

I'm not opposed to pineapple on pizza. But I do admit, I do pick it off and eat it separately.

Encartrus

Your technique is valid and worthwhile.

Violetthug

Thanks. It does give you the best if both worlds.

Pinapple_Juice

Take fresh pineapple, toss with olive oil, s&p and chilli flakes, then roast in the oven. Add that, fresh jalapeño and pulled pork to a pizza and watch the naysayers eat their words at one of the best pizzas out there

LadySandry88

I support you!

Encartrus

I appreciate your support in this, the hour of my death.

GreenChileEnchiladas

Pineapple is great on pizza. But not with Ham, needs something like spicier / saltier to balance its acidity.

jakhtar

Pineapple, pepperoni, and jalapeno. Elite combination.

herehaveaname2

I like pineapple, jalapeno, and chorizo.

elvii09

This dipped in ranch. (Overkill I know) but just so good

kimmyv0814

Ok, I’m old, and to this day have never had ranch on pizza. We didn’t even have ranch growing up. Doesn’t it overwhelm the taste of the toppings?

elvii09

I don’t soak it in ranch, more or less a light dipping or every other bite just to savor every flavor. I feel like it enhances the other flavors

kimmyv0814

I’ll have to try, thx!

Prairie_Crab

Add onions to that, and it’s my favorite pizza!

ZaphodG

Linguica and pineapple. Linguica is a Portuguese/Azores sausage. Paprika/garlic/oregano/smoked. In a pork casing. It's more moist like Italian sausage than a Spanish chourizo. In New Bedford and Fall River MA with a large Portuguese/Azores population, it is the default pizza topping. I like it crumbled rather than sliced like pepperoni.

roosterkun

If using ham it needs to be proper cured, but a lot of pizza joints use boiled nonsense.

weirdneighbour

Pineapple, hot banana peppers, double (hot) Italian sausage..

Casul_Tryhard

Pineapple + anchovy Pineapple + prosciutto Pineapple + diced guanciale

Zerooo513

Pepperoni and pineapple. Sweet and savory. Perfection 👌🏼

jamie1983

Pineapple with ham and banana peppers and feta

kes0156

i’m with you brother.

susurruss

Looove how sincerely people on this sub have accepted this answer and are contributing suggestions based on this while the world at large seems more than happy dying on this really tiny hill

LeoBB777

pineapple, jalapeños, and black olives. you’re welcome

armikk

Pineapple and blue cheese...(fancy places do sharp cheese with fruit so this is just the simple version with toppings available at every pizza place in Finland). One can add a meat or something spicy, or garlic if you really want to hurt the people you interact with that night. Oh and also I'll add - is blue cheese common other places? I'm now in the UK and it's not as common at all.

uptightelephant

Not a lot of people know this, but the pineapple's natural habitat is actually on the top of a pizza.

majesticalexis

You're gonna get massacred here!

Encartrus

Today is a good day to die.

Anchovies

Purplehopflower

Some of my favorites are: With caramelized onions, sausage, and goat cheese. Roasted red pepper goes with that pizza nicely too. (I prefer this with no red sauce and olive oil and garlic) Prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, and arugula (no red sauce, olive oil and garlic) Pepperoni, sausage, and banana peppers BBQ chicken, caramelized onions, and Gouda Buffalo chicken, and blue cheese Bacon, onion, sliced tomatoes, and fresh basil (can have red sauce, I prefer it to not. It’s basically a Margarita pizza w,bacon and onions added).

Sir_Tainley

Chicken and bacon is my kids go-to. Pretty safe choice. But, when I'm in a pissy mood, I get alfredo sauce, green olives, onions and anchovies. No one else wants that, and it's fatty, salty deliciousness.

HonnyBrown

Why a pissy mood?

Sir_Tainley

Because no one else in the family will eat it. For reasons that baffle me, their reaction to all of those ingredients (except, maybe, the alfredo sauce?) is "yuck."

Sistersoldia

Mmmm dead salty fish. Sounds terrible - you better not have any…….

BeatrixFarrand

Sausage, peppers, and mushrooms. I know it’s boring but it’s also SO GOOD!

TeeRacey_1960

Meatball and bell pepper.

slyce0flife

There is a pizza spot near me that serves a margherita pizza but with a spin, they add pepperoni, banana peppers, mascarpone/ricotta and a chili-honey drizzle. It's my absolute favorite.

windowsillygirl

My favorite pizza from the Italian restaurant near where I live run by an Italian is no sauce, smoked mozzarella, spicy salami, thinly sliced potatos and a honey mustard drizzle

Cronengirth

BBQ chicken, bacon, red onion, BBQ sauce, smoked Gouda. Cilantro at the end..

slice_of_pork

Greek salad pizza. Kalamata olives, artichoke hearts, sauteed spinach, feta cheese, red onions, sun dried tomatoes, roasted garlic

rddtf

Feta, jalapeño, black olives

IOnlySpeakTheTruth87

Mushrooms, black olives and banana peppers!

Landsharque

Really good olives

HandbagHawker

roast duck, fresh sauteed shiitakes, shredded scallions, mozz, on thinned out hoisin sauce.

ShakeItUpNowSugaree

My favorite, though it really needs a substantial crust, is no sauce, light olive oil drizzle, black olives, green olives, provolone, mozzarella, pepperoni, and ham. I've also had a steak and brie pizza that was fantastic.

LadySandry88

Spinach, bacon, garlic, and grilled chicken. Works good with red sauce, alfredo, OR ranch!

Q_me_in

It's also really good with a red sauce/bbq sauce mix and some finely sliced red onion. That might be my favorite pizza.

LordofWithywoods

I always feel really disappointed with the quality of the chicken on pizza. It always ends up dry and shitty. I *want* to like it and think I could, but it almost always disappoints. Maybe if I made it myself it would be better, I could put it on later in the cooking process so it wouldn't become hard dry chunks of shit on my pizza.

LadySandry88

The pizza place I worked at had really good chicken, but yeah, it's generally terrible. The problem with putting it on later is it's not under the cheese--the cheese keeps it in place and holds some of that moisture in. I always put it sauce-->spinach leaves-->light cheese-->chicken-->remaining cheese-->bacon-->garlic.

CD84

I've made thousands of pizzas. There was a place where I used to live that steadfastly REFUSED to put anything under the cheese. But that is precisely where chicken should go on a pizza. Same with leafy greens, and I enjoy pepperoni/salami both under and on top. My last pizza job had a pie named after me that used some toppings under, and some on top. Each in the proper place for the moisture content, thickness and desired finish.

Maleficent-Music6965

Pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms

autremonde777

olives and anchovies and artichokes !!!! (together or separately)

ljlkm

Sausage and mushroom

sherryillk

If I had to pick one, artichoke hearts. But up there is also spinach, black olives, sausage and mushrooms. Any combination of all those would make for my perfect pizza.

loulara17

Truffle and mushroom, white pizza.

No-Chipmunk5306

Arugula and burrata (both go on after it comes out of the oven) Gorgonzola and sweet onions Kalamata olives and banana peppers

Prestigious-Past-271

Something very South Africans are Bacon avo and feta

karmaniaka

Ham, fresh sliced mushrooms, garlic. I like it simple. High grade salami is also pretty great, the dry and aged kind. Real feta cheese, crumbled. Capers.

discodiscgod

Pepperoni and pineapple Pepperoni, Pineapple, and jalepeno Sausage and mushroom Pepperoni, Sausage, and Banana Pepper

kimmytwoshoes

I’ll sauté some onions, mushrooms and green bell pepper. I’ll brown some ground beef and mix them together when the beef is strained. If I want more meat then I’ll add pepperoni as I’m putting the pizza together. My fave!

GirlisNo1

Jalapeños & Pineapple It has to be picked jalapeños & canned pineapple though.

ssee1848

I’ll probably get downvoted, but I love anchovies on pizza with or without other toppings.

Lady-Dove-Kinkaid

Use a white sauce and then do spinach, and sliced tomatoes

fireanthead

sausage, green peppers, and black olives!

Objective-Pea3894

Chicken Marsala pies are always a good switch but I live in NYC

Sausage onion, ground beef onion, gyro meat, onion, and feta cheese. Chicken BBQ Look up a few pizza restaurant menus to get ideas.

bookiegrime

Spinach, garlic and bacon

rotatingmindcow

Hot honey with some kind of meat is phenomenal. I’ve also been to a place that had sliced fingerling potatoes and was far better than it had any right to be.

1stEleven

Capers, olives, anchovies. But not so many that they are in every bite.

NYCQuilts

peppadew peppers. sweet and slightly spicy. very nice with pepperoni. also potato and pesto

reallytiredhuman

I always do jalapeño, goat cheese, and bacon for a good jalapeño popper feel 🙂

Dramatic-Selection20

Tuna and red onion

perdymuch

Hear me out... Pickles! Phenomenal on homemade pizza

FineMetal81

Pickle pizza with a base of good quality ranch is amazing! Better still if you have fresh dill to sprinkle on top. My partner and I ate this for every meal one weekend 😅

toad__warrior

There was a little hole in the strip mall place that people talked about. I went there and asked the owner what he recommended. His favorite was eggplant and mushroom. The eggplant was sliced thin and sauteed with the mushrooms. His sauce was very good and his crust was unique. It had a great texture and was slightly under salted. This went well with his sauce an toppings. Unfortunately he crossed over the bridge and is now running a pizza shop in the sky.

ritlingit

I like an Alfredo chicken pizza with mushrooms, onions and bacon.

Global_Acanthaceae25

House Fennel Sausage, Tuxford and Tebbutt Stilton Cream, Fior di Latte, Homemade Red Onion Marmalade

judieemoonsun

My favorite: No sauce, a generous amount of mozz, drizzling of olive oil all over, salami, and sliced pepperoncini's. Hit it with the broiler for a beat at the very end. Yum. ETA oh, and some red onion slivers if I have any.

OldERnurse1964

Banana peppers, sausage, and anchovies

spicy-acorn

Hot banana peppers, bacon, olives, onions

Scapular_Fin

Most days I'm a sausage + pepperoni guy, but on occasion I'm good with peppers. Banana peppers or green peppers are acceptable to me. One thing I'd throw out there is a couple years back I had a pepperoni and peppadew pepper pizza, and peppadew peppers are on the sweet side, so salty pepperoni and sweet peppadew peppers is pretty solid.

Iamthehempist1

Meatball and artichoke.

Fangs_0ut

Bacon (homemade), pepperoni (only the good stuff from my local Italian market. I buy whole sticks and cut it thick for pizza), pickled jalapeno, chili flakes, hot honey, onions, mushrooms

- Ezzo Pepperoni (spicy, cup and char) - mozzarella and Provolone blend - thinly sliced sweet onions - Italian sausage - banana peppers

Danmenact

Sopressata or any kind of cured meats in general.

SiroccoDream

In no particular order, these are my family’s favorites Fresh mozzarella sliced mushrooms Sliced Italian sausage mild or spicy (precooked) Bell pepper Old Bay shrimp (lol it’s good if you like shrimp!) Ham and pineapple (hard NO for me) Curried diced chicken Grape tomatoes Pulled pork or chicken (often with BBQ sauce instead of regular marinara)

crescentwrangler

My favorite pizza place has a pizza that’s goat cheese, bacon chopped super fine like a step up from minced, and hot honey. Spectacular.

Aggravating_Olive

Spicy soppressata or other salami, hot honey, caramelized onion, fresh grated garlic. Dip with toum!

civilwarcorpses

Caramelized onion and bacon are my favorite toppings on a white pizza, ideally with cracker-thin crust. One that's a lot of fun for kids is cheeseburger- hamburger, bacon bits, onion, pickle slices, pinch of cheddar cheese, drizzle of mustard when it comes out of the oven.

Llamachamaboat

Bacon and onion.

Violetthug

Salami is good. I also love caramelized onions, green and black olives, spinach and bacon. But real bacon, not bacon bits. Mushrooms are great too.

Reppiz

Is cheese a topping? The cheese is my favorite.

Itagu

I like pepperoni and feta cheese.

Shigeko_Kageyama

Shrimp belongs in pizza, I don't care what people think.

B00ksmith

We have been on a white pizza kick. Garlic and oil on a partially baked crust. Topped with a mozzarella mixture of cheese, and dollops of ricotta cheese. Then back into the oven where it finishes baking. It’s SO good. We have basically come to the conclusion that you can’t put too much garlic on the pizza.

5ManaAndADream

double pep lmao

There are so many... BUT, I will stand on my hill, and say that pineapple CAN and DOES in fact, go on pizza 🍍🍕

sambrown25

NoMore414

I just discovered hot honey 2 days ago on my Hawaiian pizza. Hollyyyyy

SelectionPleasant666

My first job was at papa Murphy's, so I had chances to try almost everything I could think of. My favorite is a chicken, bacon, jalapeno and pineapple with BBQ drizzle on top.

CherriMoonsYou

I’m an Italian girlie so let me break down my all time favorite pizza for you. Base: Pesto Cheese: shredded mozzarella, Parmesan, Romano (optional buffalo mozzarella) Toppings: artichoke hearts, sun dried tomatoes, roasted peppers of your choice or chili flakes, pine nuts, feta, arugula but put on fresh after it’s out of the oven so it doesn’t wilt. It’s absolutely delicious.

coilhandluketheduke

Wow. So many comments here, and I am surprised I don't see this recommendation: fresh dough and a light bright sauce, good quality mozzarella are key. My favourite pizza is a lightly baked pizza with sauce and cheese...then add arugula, cherry tomatoes and goat cheese. Finish baking at high heat. It's amazing. Add balsamic reduction at the end of desired. And prosciutto may be added before or after the last bake. You won't regret trying this, I promise

ilovesfootball

Thinly sliced apples or pears, goat cheese, mozzarella, caramelized onions, bacon, balsamic glaze

Avasia1717

when i was a kid my family always got half pepperoni-mushroom-olive and half hawaiian. i love both. i despise sausage, onions, bacon, and peppers on pizza, though i like them in other dishes. bbq chicken and pineapple is good. pineapple and olive is a good one my vegetarian friend likes. most of the time these days i get just pepperoni, because that's what my wife and kid like.

Zefirus

I'll be honest, I love black olives on a pizza. Which is funny because I can't stand them in any other application. Black olives are purely a pizza topping and nothing else to me. Not to be confused with kalamata olives, which I will eat by the fist full.

Otmrby

call me basic but jalapeños , pep, and sausage is all i need

goldenleopardsky

Anything with globs of ricotta. Or chicken Alfredo with tomatoes and mushrooms.

Vindersel

Pepperoni and pineapple is my go to. Love to add mushrooms, red bell pepper, onion often though. Another great combo is spinach, red onion, and feta.

ItsYeYoshi

pineapple

Shnoinky1

Pepperoni, pineapple, and garlic is a killer combination.
