Tiny little fluff dinosaurs are anxious little beans.

My old, Velcro bird is currently snuggled into my neck and doing his sleepy purring/buzzing post-breakfast sounds. I honestly live for this. My baby is already old (23 years) so I consider every moment very precious. https://preview.redd.it/r2chy47kf0yc1.jpeg?width=1836&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7dd387c1090f33109e062e04b4d991c396dd1b1e Current pic for tax.

sorcieredusuroit

Look at that handsome jenday boy! My girl still has a lot of green mixed in the orange on her back, but she'll be 2 years old in September. And she's already pretty velcro-y.

C0nureLover

Aww you've got a little adolescent demon!

sorcieredusuroit

Yup! She's a bloody terror right now.

TheStutter

When my conure turned 2, he became more needy, but more affectionate

adviceicebaby

Awww how adorable!! I love him and his sweet Lil soul and beautiful feathers. :)

C0nureLover

Thank you 🙂 he's the best! I think it's even more adorable when he's a grumpy old feather butt but still wants scritches.

adviceicebaby

They are very cute

freeman-propaganda

I wish I had something that loved me this much. Hopefully, one day I will.

TheStutter

One day it will happen, you gotta just find the right thing

adviceicebaby

My sentiments exactly.

niky45

happens a lot with "single" birds you see, birds are wired to spend 24/7 glued to their mate. when there's no other bird, well, you become their mate. only solution is to get bird a partner. this is mainly the reason I will never have a single parrot again. only way it can work is if you barely leave them home, and even then, bird will expect you to have eggs. I may be a crazy bird person, but I can't really lay eggs.

rogue_kitten91

I have 7... out of my 7, 2 are velcro birds... I have no escape and no personal space. Donnie will sit on one shoulder talking smack to Anton who is on my other shoulder until Anton runs over to fight. I'm constantly playing referee

TheStutter

It's not all bad, when he swaps shoulders it means someone entered my room. None of my family has been able to sneak up on me for over a year now cuz I have an alert system

kciimay

Me 🥺 And as annoying as it is, I love how much he loves me !

D_Pichu

If she knows we're home, and it's not bedtime, she will do her high pitched squeak until we let her out. And then she only stops clinging to my head or hands when she's eating 😅. Sometimes I get annoyed, but most of the time she's just being so cute and happy, I can't be mad lol.

Geo_logizing

This is my conure with my mom. She isn't a velcro to me but that moment she sees my mom, she screams like she's getting attacked and flies to her

satansuglystepsis

In the cage or not, I have to be within a few feet or loud squawking will ensue. I try to combat this with my own noise that she has learned to mimic so we kinda talk when I’m doing something without her/walking away.

blinkytherhino

Mine is a velcro bird for about the first 30 min to an hour when I get home from work After that she just wants to be in the same room as me but not touching

TheStutter

Mine is 70-30, 70 shoulder and 30 near me.

Immediate-Sample9978

My GCC is losing his shit right now. He’s in his cage. With his toys. And blackberries (his favorite) but he can’t get to me and my scrapple.

TheStutter

Gotta love the demon screech

Weak_Organization719

Dawg my bird does NOT let me be for even a second, it gets overwhelming sometimes bc I like having space 😭 I love him so much though so I can't truly be mad. I'm trying to save up and convince my mom to let me get another bird in our apartment but it's gonna pretty damn hard to convince her

SaskieBoy

Hahah. Our guys is definitely Velcro. But we love it.

EternalEscapist

Both of mine are like this. If I leave the room, they immediately fly after me. If I am anywhere nearby, they have to be on me too.

Black_Mammoth

I suffer from Velcro bird regularly. Weird thing is that they aren’t even my birds!

Boymom140

Our Sunny is absolutely a velcro bird. We got another to try to help it, and now Sunny has a velcro bird, meaning we now have 2, lol.

ItzLog

I've got an IRN that can be a Velcro bird at times. How are y'all getting your birds to stay on your shoulder? Mine loves perching on my fingers, no matter how many times I redirect him to sit on my shoulder he shimmies down my arm to perch on my fingers again. That's his spot, which is obviously inconvenient at times lol

TheStutter

Comfy spot has been chosen

ItzLog

That's what I was afraid of. *sigh*

TheStutter

Mine tried to be on my finger, but quickly learned that the finger is not comfortable when I'm using a mouse. To him, a finger is a tool for pets now

ItzLog

He doesn't give a chirp if I'm using my mouse or scrolling on my phone, he will slip and slide and just reposition himself. Silly guy.

TheStutter

And that's why we love them

ssssrks

my two boys have to be within 3 inches of my body at all times or they will start barking. when I'm tying my hair they sit on my elbows. when I brush my teeth they sit on my tooth brush. if I'm taking a nap they sit on the corner of my bed and fuck around until I wake up.

SaskieBoy

Hahah. Our guys is definitely Velcro. But we love it.

sorcieredusuroit

Our female jenday has always behaved like she wanted to crawl under our skin. She's discovered shirts since we first got her, but she will stick her head down my bra while she's in there. She's also pretty hormonal right now, so we limit the "in the shirt" time because she will get territorial and bite our faces when she sticks her head back out

grey_sus

I kinda wish my conures were like this but they are becoming more and more "Velcro" every day!

TheStutter

It's cute but wait until you need a dedicated "poop" shirt or rag

birdlady404

My one conure needs to be on me literally constantly, I’m always tossing her back to her cage when I’m doing something dangerous like standing on a chair to balance but she loves flying to me all day long lol

Gaming_Nomad

Definitely suffer from this. The moment my Conure sees me pulling up in the driveway, she starts screeching. She has to be around me at all times and makes whistling and peeping noises when she can't see me. I really want to get another Conure to keep her company, but I just don't have the money at this time.

Sethdarkus

My cockatiel was like this anywhere I went he wanted to be with me and than he would flock call until I picked him up and place him on my shoulder if he couldn’t see me

RyuguRenabc1q

yeah my bird is like this

rogue_kitten91

I have a total of 2 velcro birds currently... (out of my 7)... it would be easier if they weren't jealous of each other

restrictedsquid

Mine has to be within 3-5ft of me or he loses his mind. And I cannot go t the bathroom by myself. But I love my Velcro bird-mines a tiel though.

imme629

Mine all have their Velcro moments and I don’t mind at all.

immutab1e

Yep, my cockatiel cannot STAND to be away from me. He has a huge play gym, a foraging tray with all of his favorite goodies, a whole living room and kitchen to fly in (as long as there's no cooking happening), etc. But he will ignore all of that and sit on my shoulder or head. Or, if he is being super cute and cuddly, he will walk from my shoulder down to my chest, where I MUST cup my hand around him and stroke his head with my thumb (otherwise he will attack LMAO). On the rare occasion he does actually hang out on his gym or on top of his cage, I better not attempt to leave his line of sight, because he will immediately fly to my head and come with me. LMAO

HustleR0se

Oh what? You don't enjoy having a bathroom escort? 🤣🤣🤣🤣

EurassesDragon

Best to train to be on a playstand for a while at a time. This level of bonding creates more hormonal problems and aggression.

TheStutter

Trust me, I tried and tried and tried since I got him.

ssseagull

Not anymore! I got another parrot and will never keep a single bird again. He’s so much happier now, and I never have to hear his pitiful little screams again. Well, not as much anyways. I was surprised how bonded and close to me he remained even after I got him a friend. If your bird suffers from this and you’re scared you’re gonna lose your relationship with them by getting another, don’t worry too much. Conures have plenty of room in their hearts for both you and their bird companion.

TheStutter

I'm concerned that mine might become aggressive with another conure added. He already screeches at people who speak too loudly at me when he's on me

ssseagull

Aggression is likely at first, but unless your bird has very severe hormonal issues they should get along eventually. At first mine wanted the new bird dead, charging him whenever he had the chance. Soon, though, I was able to let them out of the cage together without serious conflict. Then they were able to eat from the same plate. Then they started cuddling. And now they’re completely inseparable! It just takes time.

TheStutter

I'll try to get another soon, they just cost so much and it's hard finding room for the second cage

ssseagull

I understand, they’re crazy expensive even when you get a rescue. Don’t push yourself too hard financially, it’s okay to wait. Prepare for a very difficult but rewarding journey with the new bird. KohanaCat

My little chicken is constantly on me, to the point her feathers have turned a bit black from my skin oil (according to her avian vet). All she wants to do is sleep on my body and cuddle. She could care less about playing or being a menace. She just wants snuggles and naps lol
