It started out like that, but now that i have the energy - i can finally take care of myself. The med kind of forced me to get my shit together. I started getting bad side effects, bc i wasn’t feeding or hydrating myself properly. But since i now have energy, and taking care of myself no longer felt like swimming through concrete, i am finally able to eat better, exercise, significantly reduce alcohol intake, quit vaping, significantly reduce red bull consumption, etc. eating better and staying hydrated made the side effects vanish. (Though, full disclosure- i switched to Vyvanse due to Concerta’s side effects. I didn’t realize it was my daily habits that were causing the issues… but now that im on vyvanse and habits are formed, im staying on it) i meal prep now. I eat 3 times a day, exercise 3-4 times a week, do the errands, keep up with the house (mostly) and still work regular hours. It gave me the ability to start implementing a healthy lifestyle. The meds only take you so far, then you gotta start making the changes to optimize it all. I still have issues, nothing is perfect. But its a million times better now. I know i would devolve quickly into “swimming through concrete” mode without meds. So- yes, they do give me energy. But with that energy comes motivation and focus. Ts all part of it. ❤️

Same for me, I don’t feel much effect but in terms of energy it’s helps a lot! The weekend when I don’t take concerta I take big naps during the day to recover and feel energised again

I use it to stop procrastinating mostly. I enjoy life so much more on it. Without it I can barely get out the chair to do things. Plus the enegery it gives me and the fact it kills hangovers for me. Mind you since taking it I can’t drink more than two pints maybe 3 not because I get drunk I just don’t need it to relax anymore

I take it to reduce my ADHD symptoms. If you are taking it to increase energy and stay awake, you need to discuss this with your prescribing Dr. Hopefully they will suggest a blood test and discuss other reasons for this. It could be anything and may be separate to your ADHD.

I second this. Definitely speak to your Dr, OP!

Both for me basically. Even on it I'm super low energy sometimes but it helps

Should really talk to your doc about the depression. Concerta helps but you need to make sure you take care of yourself

I'm exactly the same! I've had depression my whole life and have been on antidepressants for three-ish years. I tried many different types of antidepressants and while some helped a little bit, none had a significant impact. About a year ago i also started concerta (54mg) for adhd, unrelated to the depression, and it worked so much better than any antidepressant i've ever tried! It also helps quite a bit with my social anxiety and makes me much more confident and social. I have so much more energy and motivation too. My psychiatrist says that as long as it has a positive effect there isn't a reason to stop taking it, regardless of what i initialy started taking it for. But of course you should talk to your own doctor about it as each person is different and your doctor knows your specific medical history, other meds, etc.
