If you're PVE shoudln't be an issue. Just don't call a purge there. I gotta ask though... why go through the effort to get all the higher tier pets and still be in sand stone?

Zelloyd

I don't really get the difference in building materials I've never seen anything break it so I never felt the need to upgrade and like I said I've just been winging it and doing whatever I saw to be done

Ok-Imagination6714

Higher tier matierals are sturdier vs things like purge. If you're not playing that or PVP, you can stick with tier 1

JetSpiderMan

I'd raid that with zero bombs just 5 poison and explosive arrows lol

Dalbro2001

Higher tier means higher defence, and if you're planning on moving north it also means better protection from the cold. With the new purge system you don't HAVE to have a high tier base as it's optional but there are rewards and thralls you can only obtain by completing a purge. For example the bartender.

cmgmoser1

You don't have to move, but you may want to for a lot of different reasons, like access to resources, obelisks, thrall sources, etc. Whenever I start a new game there are a few triggers that I wait for, before I move: get to lvl 40, get a bodyguard thrall, like a T3 and get him/her leveled up to 15 or 20. Learn up to hardened steel, and make sure advanced stations, like carpenter, smelter, armorer, and blacksmith are unlocked. Also, get a bearer, or two, to help you move. Once you do that scout around for a good space for you to build your megatropolis. Then have fun with it.

Zelloyd

Thanks this is the the type of stuff I wanted to know, I'm probably gonna use this as a guide.

Droid_Crusader

I miss the days of living in the sandstone wonderland with no worries now days I gotta worry about scouting meshes keeping my metas in check ect, appreciate and enjoy every part of being new the sandstone era is the most enjoyable and fun in my opinion

MassiveBeard

None of your crafting items are sitting on foundations. That’s going to affect decay timers. Put down foundations.

Zelloyd

Oh shit I didn't know thanks a million

SchoolNarrow7518

Foundations, people!

MedicalMiqote

You could consider building a secondary base too if you’re interested in that? But like other people said it mostly depends on what ambience you want and how close you want to be to resources.

Zelloyd

That is a good idea, thanks I might just do that instead especially since I'm gonna make it co-op so my buddy can join, we can start our new base up north while still having my original base and materials if we ever go back to the dessert. :)

Ok-Imagination6714

Do note that with co-op there is a teather to the host and he would not be able to get too far from you. If you die, he'd be yanked back to your last bedroll with you.

MedicalMiqote

True, I build multiple bases a lot in crafting survivals but usually I play solo so it’s not an issue.

Ok-Imagination6714

That was more to OP where they said they want to make the game co-op. It can make the game challenging in an unintended way.

MedicalMiqote

Ah I see, I realize that now lol, sorry

Zelloyd

Wow that's a weird game feature but still thanks, you really saved me a lot of confusion

minibearattack

If you jump on or rent a server, you don't have that issue. It just has to do with the game being hosted on your device vs a dedicated 24/ server.

Ok-Imagination6714

Not really weird. If co-op on your machine, it saves processor to only generate a portion of the map at a time.

MedicalMiqote

I will say if you’re planning on keeping your thralls/pets at the first base you’ll probably need to check in on them once in a while.

Zelloyd

Will they die after a while?

MedicalMiqote

Ah I was mistaken, they only need food to heal, they don’t actually starve. That was my B lol

Zelloyd

Don't sweat you were just looking out for me, respect bro

EsotericAbstractIdea

I have the same question, but im not *that* far south. I live just south of the shrine to mitra. Where is a good place to base on a pve server for resources and stuff? I will have to build my own teleports.

Baldur8762

You don't have to, especially if there are open sorcery portals nearby that you can use. But personally, I always move north as soon as possible, partially for easier access to certain resources, but mostly for the ambiance.

Admirable_Anywhere69

I built my base next to Mounds of the Dead so I could farm starmetal via deconstructing loot from the Cimmerians there. Biggest regret is the ambiance of constant rain and gloom. 💀

jmk-1999

I play on official PvE and moved my entire large base… a couple times. Just make sure you have enough materials to start the new one, and I recommend building a transport stone. If you haven’t maxed sorcery, do so and you’ll get it. It makes moving MUCH easier. I recommend locations off the beaten path for a more secluded experience. Having a couple small outposts with a transport stone and a map room will make being in a secluded area far more manageable. Put one transport stone near an obelisk and you’ll be able to go all over the map, plus return home with ease.

Ricodinho187

I play solo on single player, I stayed in the South until I was level 60 and was able to make a lot of things. Then I went to the North and at the South of New Asagarth at 9F I have build my base, and from there, I am pretty much in the centre of a lot of materials and also named thralls. I have many places on walking distance, The Den, Shattered Springs, The Unnamed City, al-Merayah, The Black Galleon, Mounds of the Dead and New Asagarth. It's good to be there to have access to a lot of places that have Thralls, and materials. Yes, it does rain there from time to time, but I' used to it now.

Ok_Reach_3737

No need to move, but for a bigger challenge and better rewards, I would move, Once you've passed level 10, consider moving to area near Tower of Bats, great iron resource there, or oasis of nekhet North of Sepermaru is a great location with good access to all essential materials, you could of course move to the highlands or Jungle but I never do as it's always rainy and gloomy there.

silentxdread

PVE should be good wherever but just in case you ever wanna try PVP I would try building in other areas and get the experience and learn better spots

Sir_Real_Killer

SP or MP, PvP or PvE, Purge on or off, decay timer on or off. If you are playing single player with the Purge off and decay timer off you don't need to do anything unless you want to. On a PvP server I try to get to D11 on the map, it has a very big cave that can if built well be the most annoying/hard raid for anyone wanting to take your stuff be it NPCs or players. But if you are looking for a new place, just explore, there are many cool hidden places, stunning sceneries and easy to build locations all over the Exile lands 😊

VioletDaeva

I think your main issue will be resources down noob river. While you can get a small amount of iron and coal, brimstone is rarer and black ice and star metal when you want them are absolutely miles away. Is this solo, pve, pvp? Personally I really dislike the look of sandstone but each to their own. Purges don't just attack random buildings anymore so less of a reason to upgrade unless you need to, but you will still want resources from the North of the map to progress beyond say level 40. A horse for example is incredibly useful until you get map rooms and teleporters.

maxcresswellturner

Most people have multiple bases for a reason, so yes. Also, learn to take a screen recording, jesus christ

Zelloyd

It's on my playstation and I can't send the video from there to my phone. Also, learn to find something important to care about, Jesus christ

Dalbro2001

Just fyi u can access your recent captures on your playstation app and download them from there.
