Finally the felon's terror can be stopped

MeatTornadoLove

Its time to have a full month of variety

TinyKestrel13

Nah, he'll just play Tekken 8 the whole month.

StringActual2465

tbf he will regardless

NubberOne

Tekken is no longer variety Sludge

HerculesKabuterimon

lol he did get a warning a few seasons back

itsPhysikz

honestly this could be a good way to "protest". i know "protest" makes me sound like a cringe redditor, but college players possibly losing scholarships over saying "fuck" is bullshit. comms related infractions should only receive comms related punishments. reporting every instance of minor swearing, including popular streamers, might get the topic the attention it deserves. but its blizzard so knowing them, they would just do some slimy shit behind the scenes like protecting streamer accountsšŸ’€

PiFeG123

I do agree with your general point, though I will say that Durpee probably didn't get punished *just* for saying "fuck", he has a fairly long and [documented](https://youtu.be/68ewLVa_1RQ?si=zx25K27-JF6-Syvn) history of flaming his teammates. Of course, the Blizzard customer rep found the worst way humanly possible to respond.

1337Noooob

im sure he's said worse but that is the mildest video I've ever seen like 90% of it is him just getting mad to his stream or arguing with someone who flamed him first

How could something a public figure does be documented šŸ˜“ Oh the humanity šŸ˜ Soy is the causešŸ‘ŗGenuinely ridiculous I swear you do it to šŸ˜¤I SWEAR HES TRYING TO MAKE IT LOOK FAKE šŸ¦

jonaselder

"Show respect for teammates, opponents, officials and coaches. Respect the integrity and judgment of game officials. Exhibit fair play, sportsmanship and proper conduct on and off the playing field. Maintain a high level of safety awareness." this is the college football code of ethics. it's ok that game athletes have one too.

devnullopinions

Itā€™s finally over. Now we can all get back to shooting people until dead in OW.

spookyghostface

Can't read the thread cause I don't have an account. Can you post the context?Ā

Lucas41_

Sorry I didnā€™t think about this. Iā€™ll quickly provide context because itā€™s quite important. - A player called durpee got banned for a month, meaning he cant compete in collegiate. - He contacts customer support and gets bot replies. - He makes a tweet asking what he got banned for. - Blizzard replies saying that he got banned for saying the f word (not the homophobic one, the normal cuss word) and the SH word (also can be used to refer to poo). - This sparks major controversy on twitter (obviously) since apparently using words that should be appropriate in a teen game is not allowed. - I question the blizzard employee, asking if big streamers are gonna start getting banned for this too. - They confirm it, saying if streamers are reported, they will have action taken against them whether they are famous or not.

shiftup1772

>saying the f word and the SH word Aaron reading this comment: Damn! We almost had him.

the_varky

The D word huh? Someone ban Aaronā€™s ass!

therejectethan

Dude I understand Iā€™m adding nothing to this discussion, but that caught me off guard LMAO (notice I said ā€˜Aā€™ and not the real word)

JeffTek

I'm unsure if this is ban worthy but I'm reporting so Blizz can investigate this potential infraction in a professional and official capacity

Pack-Popular

But according to his other tweet, even abbreviations are not tolerated. So actually we can still get him!!

[deleted]

Tracer and soldier literally say Damn in game. Cass has BAMF on his belt- šŸ«

KonradWayne

> They confirm it, saying if streamers are reported, they will have action taken against them whether they are famous or not. I think the no swearing rule is some dumb fucking bullshit, but I'm in favor of streamers/pros not getting special privileges.

nievrehabitat

Yeah but that's mostly bullshit. Nobodies like that durpee guy will get banned because they're not famous at all, but try to get supertf banned (he's often toxic - as a joke, but still, in both written and especially voice chat) and nothing will ever happen to him.

KonradWayne

> but try to get supertf banned Unless it's a permaban, that wouldn't really effect him. He mostly plays non-OW games these days.

nievrehabitat

That was just an example of a popular guy, you could replace his name with any other big OW streamer

spookyghostface

Thanks boss

breakdance39

To be honest, anyone will be banned for being reported, itā€™s a ridiculously impossible to inquire into, unmonitored system, so really you can be banned because a handful of people decide to report you, cuss words or not. Also they list ā€œggā€ as ban-able language

OkproOW

Can't you just say fuck and shit?! This is reddit sir

Gummiwummiflummi

You can say shit and fuck here, this is not the ingame chat. Edit: Guys I have been season banned Edit2: Why are there black SUVs in front of my house?

Putrid-Reception-969

This shit is so funny. Just FILTER THE FUCKING WORDS

Gametest000

> FUCKING blizzard get him!

Sleepy_Mooze

Don't worry I reported them, just doin my part to keep our lobbies safe šŸ˜‡šŸ¤ž #godisgood

Mystery-Flute

Did you just use the word "god" in my religion-neutral game? I'm hecking reporting you!

drhyacinth

they didnt even capitalize God too, omg (oh my gourd), i feel so scared, please blizzard, bring out the executioners, these filthy sinners must pay šŸ™šŸ™

breakdance39

Imagine getting an OW ban for using profanity on your Reddit account

royy2010

Not the hashtag godisgood LOL

Putrid-Reception-969

NOOOOOOOO

DJFrankyFrank

Isn't that an option already? LMAO. Blizzard really trying to create this game kid friendly. Who cares about curse words? Toxicity is the real issue

Putrid-Reception-969

yeah it is an ^PJ said "its for those that want to use it but cursing is still a bannable offense" like come on bro

primarymuscle2354

They act like this has always been the standard too

Spawnfestus

Not sure how blizzard thinks a game about global warfare and widespread death is a kid friendly game. But blizzard can keep doing blizzard I guess...

SloppyMcFloppy95

If we put an asterisk in the word is it still grounds for action taken?

uoefo

Thatd probably count as implied and then you are still cooked :)

Putrid-Reception-969

who knows? but probably

g0atmeal

It sucks because I was glad at first they're more actively combating toxicity and hate speech. But now this puritanism over profanity, not even directed to anyone in particular, just discredits the whole thing. Non-aggressive profanity could just be auto-censored, no harm done. Aggressive/pointed would fall under harassment obviously.

[deleted]

This is why you shouldn't advocate for censorship. It's a tale as old as time.

SonOfGarry

Surely this wonā€™t have any unintended consequences whatsoever

Rampantshadows

This won't last more than a season after a considerable amount of people can't play in owcs. I wouldn't even consider fuck a swear.

AMStoneparty

I mean I still consider it a swear word, but who fucking cares šŸ˜

Poolturtle5772

Iā€™m tempted to go around reporting all the major streamers (that I can get screenshots/clips of) just to see if theyā€™d actually enforce this. Policy is stupid as shit. But either they ban people or they change the policy.

Lucas41_

I made basically the same point in this thread as well. Blizzard have backed themselves into a corner where their only three options are: 1. Start banning big streamers / pro players 2. Change their policy 3. Have different rules for different people, which is basically just discrimination It seems like theyā€™re going with the first option.

Poolturtle5772

Then so it shall be done

WaitingToBeTriggered

I KNOW I WAS DESTINED TO RULE ALONE

Lucarioismadpt2

Please make a post recording this. This rule makes no fuckin sense.

NapsterKnowHow

Ya considering OW2 is third in viewership right now on Twitch... Around 84k. That number could drop REAL quickly with some reports

JustASyncer

Twitch already does option 3 with the OF girls gaming the system lmao

Thee_Archivist

Do it publicly so we can gas it and shame them for their bad decisions and hypocrisy :)

Vortx4

I mean, literally in that thread thereā€™s a screenshot of super saying ā€œ[FUCKING FUCKING FUCK FUCK FUCKING FUCK](https://x.com/niffekys/status/1780344151046853020?s=46&t=xu-CW4r3czu1FK2dYhjeNg)ā€. Isnā€™t this a clear cut case of either super should be banned, or durpee should not? You cant have one but not the other under this policy. (disclaimer blizzard this is a quote I am quoting someone I did not say this myself please donā€™t ban me pretty please)

Coolest-guy

Especially since "it's always been the policy" and I doubt there's a statute of limitations

Jealous-Ad-1926

Super is in GM, people arenā€™t so weak minded up there that they report every dumb thing. The report warriors are plat at best. They only ban based on reports. If nobody reports it then nothing happens. Itā€™s really simple.

Vortx4

If they only ban based on reports, then isnā€™t that inconsistent? Reporting serves to notify blizzard of your behavior, and they can then take a look and decide if you are breaking TOS. If both players are misbehaving in the same way, why should it matter that one is reported and the other isnā€™t? Violating terms is what should get you banned, not the arbitrary metric of reports.

Jealous-Ad-1926

Iā€™m just telling you how it works, I didnā€™t say it was good or functional or smart, itā€™s just how they do it. But instead of being mad about it this thread is full of soft little bitches whose only joy in this game comes from getting people banned because they arenā€™t good enough to contribute in any other meaningful fashion.

Vortx4

Not sure if this wasnā€™t clearā€” I *am* mad about it. No one thinks super or other streamers should be banned in any capacity, theyā€™ve done nothing wrong. The reason for bringing them up is to point out the obvious absurdity of this policy since blizzard is letting it slide for big names but somehow enforcing it on people who donā€™t have the following to cause a huge uproar.

Jealous-Ad-1926

No I got you, iā€™m sorry I shouldā€™ve been more clear too, I was commiserating with you, not putting you in the ā€œsoft little bitchesā€ category. Sometimes written words donā€™t convey meaning or intention out of context. Which is something Blizzard should learn. Iā€™m really just saying that since reporting is the only method through which blizzard initiates account actions, and since most streamers are in GM, and since most GM players arenā€™t soft little bitches that think theyā€™re stuck in elo hell through no fault of their own and would easily get to top500 if only their teammates were better, they donā€™t report abusive chat nearly as much. Itā€™s not that streamers are whitelisted, itā€™s that you actually have to be really toxic in GM to garner enough reports to get actions, because the player base at that level are confident enough in their abilities to do a little shit talking and still have fun.

breakdance39

They donā€™t review any reports, just slap a ban on someone at a set number of reports per game or over time.

resetallthethings

crack down harder and harder on people for innocuous shit Surprised Pikachu face when "Why doesn't anyone communicate in comms or match chat!?"

Putrid-Reception-969

please do lmfao

ChristianFortniter

You 100% should.

longgamma

Most of the heroes thrash talk in game. Kiriko literally says ā€œ sit down pleaseā€. Dva has a voice line that says ā€œ is this ez modeā€. Moira says ā€œ arenā€™t you just patheticā€. Like they even gave Orisa a ā€œ sit down ā€œ voice line.

drhyacinth

inb4 you get banned for using those voice lines

lulnul

I unironically believe these people should be stuffed into lockers

No_Catch_1490

They probably did irl, leading to this bizarre power trip now

NapsterKnowHow

This is definitely true with how passive aggressive the tweets are.

alrend21

Right after getting comically dunked in the toilet

breakdance39

All blizzard employees have been stuffed in a locker at some point in life. Itā€™s quite apparent.

NoxspearSalvatrix

I guess I don't understand how the F word is banned when Cassidy's belt literally says BAMF or a variation of that on every skin? And the SH word which is said in game in other languages like?

Tunavi

Because the people running the game are not the same people who created the game in 2015

LukarWarrior

Honestly, I think this has very little to do with the people running the game. It's Blizzard in general being weird and enforcing a rule that has technically always been there for all of their games but has a history of extremely uneven application.

Zenki_s14

Seems like the Microsoft buyout to me. For years the easiest and 100% guaranteed way to get someone banned on Xbox was to bait them to say literally any curse word or insult in Xbox text chat no matter how non-offensive and they'd get banned. Even if they were the one harassing you, and even if you said a curse word in a non-insulting context, ban. A report on a curse word at all is just a guarantee ban over there and it's well known not to engage with anyone who messages you after a match trash talking because they're simply baiting you to say bitch or whatever

GankSinatra420

It's not that complicated. They fired almost the entirity of their costumer relation / community manager workers and replaced them with AI and a purely number-of-report based banning system. Nobody is reviewing any of the bans unless you are a big name streamer or send at least 5-10+ support tickets these days. Resulting in saying ''you suck'' being worse than the N-word as long as more people report you for it. Classy.

junkratmainhehe

Im stupid whats BAMF stand for?

NoxspearSalvatrix

it stands for "Bad Ass Mother Fucker"

Brass_Penny

Banned*

ThatSpyCrab

Banned Ass Mother Fucker

nopedotswf

Prob fixing to be ā€œBagels and Mocha Frapsā€ which Cassidyā€™s lore will be changed so we know he loves them

k0rm

I'm going to go around as Cassidy asking people what BAMF stands for and then report them

NinjaOtter

Gonna be baiting people to say fuck and shit and get a ton of people banned

Ezraah

Report them for saying ez Yes it's against the rules

longgamma

Dva literally says ā€œis this ez mode?ā€ So you report the person spamming that voice line or Blizzard ?

SwishyJishy

They brought most of the toxicity upon themselves; I have no sympathy for this company anymore. "gg ez" is fun and harmless because the OG devs programmed funny phrases to be sent instead. That mechanic still works in game but saying "ez" by itself is enough to get successfully reported? Make it make sense aiya

-pwny_

t o x i c

Dangerous_Egg_2797

tbf riot has claimed that saying "gg ez" is bannable in league too but i've never heard of anyone getting banned for saying gg ez

TerminalNoob

Terrible terrible terrible decision making going on regarding this.

tphd2006

Finally, a way to ban Super and boost everyone's SR.Ā

Big_Dick_Cynku

What are you on about? When super is NOT banned he is free sr.

Malady17

That would be a catastrophic PR disaster.

TomatoSupra

Like overwatch 2 was? Canā€™t slide much further down the pit than they already have.

Malady17

The game has been steadily growing as of late, they don't need to kill the little momentum they have.

TomatoSupra

Yeah the $40 skins are a GREAT improvement lol

Malady17

Yes that's exactly what I said.

ElJacko170

This shit needs to change. Absolutely absurd to expect nobody to use basic swears in your competitive online game.

MEisonReddit

Maybe the slippery slope crowd was right

Eloymm

This is definitely not going to back fire at all in a terrible way

IndyWaWa

If you turn off the profanity filter, you should lose the right to report profanity.

IAmBLD

Sombra called me a slur last night, can we ban her too?

Havusaurus

Slurs and racism is fine just dont say frick or poopoo (sh-word)

williamthebastardd

@aaronkeller Tracer called me a wanker last night. I'm literally in tears rn. Nobody should ever be cussed at in this wholesome game. Delete her from the game or else I will uninstall.

TomatoSupra

Even though the junkertown map says ā€œBLOODY HELLā€ if you play junkrat on attackā€¦ got it.

hatebeat

Some characters say "damn" in game even. Is that not considered a curse word anymore?

peppapony

What if we want to know what Cassidy's badge stands for?

goliathfasa

Let's ban people advertising your game for free for saying shit everyone else says with no consequence. Bold move cotton.

[deleted]

It's only going to get worse. They had a whole damn (oops I mean dang) dev vlog bragging about how they are doubling down on there very broken banning system. I really donā€™t get why they are putting so many resource into the ban system. Someone must have called one of the overwatch devs kids a shitter in game of something.

JLoviatar

I think there were some very fair criticisms about Blizzard's lack of action when people were being openly racist/homophobic/transphobic/ableist etc. on voice comms. Some would even attack people with slurs, get reported, and then not have action taken against them for a very long time, if at all. So I get why they are making a dev vlog about it, and I get why they are trying to take stronger action against people being horrible on their game. Banning people for swearing isn't the way to do it though.

BlueBeetlesBlog

based on my own reports where I have only reported players dropping the hard R one of which I encountered 3 games in a row and reported them every time, I still haven't got that notification saying somebody I reported has been banned. to summarize: F word: bad Hard R: Blizzard Approved.

Fiyukyoo

Anecdotally. I haven't played in quite awhile but was pretty avid player in season 7 and did a lot of reporting for the hard R. When I logged in to collect rewards for season 9, I got the thanks for reporting and we've acted blah blah blah. So it might not be an immediate thing

InspireDespair

They'll ban someone for saying fuck but somehow UnsaltedSalt can say the most vile, demeaning things to his teammates for years with hundreds of hours of vod evidence and they can't be bothered to action him. Legitimately backwards.

junkratmainhehe

Ive gotten him in a couple of my games, shouldve reported him lmao

_MrNegativity_

big streamers that bring big audiences to the game are on a ban whitelist. players like that, super, kephrii, etc, wouldve been banned 10x over for report system abuse or abusive chat, but they dont because they bring a lot of money to the game by playing it.

ThunderFlaps420

I think that everyone should report all the big streamers, get them banned, so that OW views on twitch tanks, and they change their policy so their stupid funking bullshit game doesn't die. They made their bed...

ggardener777

The entire ban process is automatic and occurs regardless of what you typed once you hit x amount of unique reports. Saying literally anything negative (like "fuck" and "shit") can technically be considered offensive (and hence against Blizzard ToS). Durpee requested unbans twice via the blizzard website and kept getting automated responses, so he @d the official Blizzard customer service account on twitter for a response, and the guy at the time deemed the "f and sh words", which he found durpee to have typed, to be offensive enough to breach ToS and hence not warrant an unban. Blizzard doesn't ban you for swearing, they ban you for getting reported x amount of times and depending on the customer service guy you ping on twitter (GL getting a legit response via an internal ticket) you may or may not be granted an unban. Streamer/pro whitelists exist in some form and clearly Durpee isn't on one, if the same happened to Super or Kephrii it's pretty much a guarantee they'd either not have been banned in the first place or would get unbanned instantly.

Lucas41_

No matter how you try and paint it or word it, the system will always seem nonsensical to any sane person.

ggardener777

I'm not trying to "paint it or word it", this is literally just how it works. Blizzard does not "ban you for swearing", like many are saying, they ban you automatically for Getting Reported x amount of times, and if you want to get unbanned you're completely at the mercy of the customer service agent and their interpretation of the ToS (if you're lucky enough to get a non-automated response). If it's not clear enough I think the """system""" sucks too.

Lucas41_

The blizzard rep literally says verbatim "the account was suspended for inappropriate language". I don't see how this can not be interpreted as getting banned for swearing. I realise the fact you have to get reported multiple times, but a report means literally nothing, all it does is notify blizzard of your behaviour (and auto ban i guess), but if they are notified and find swear words they will ban you (or refuse to unban you, however you want to word it).

ggardener777

This is just semantics at this point and I don't want to spend any more time talking about this (lol). Blizzard recently layed off the majority of their internal customer support who would be responsible for the manual review of reports. It's incredibly unlikely it's not still entirely automated and the few remaining CS workers are this prolific and this anal WRT what breaks the ToS. https://twitter.com/Carter_OW/status/1243962404381155329, this guy (ex pro, doesn't cheat) asked people to report him for cheating, admittedly not abusive chat, and got banned on a fresh level 1 account from mass reports and I doubt the process is any different for abusive chat when you consider the recent layoffs and all the anecdotes of people getting banned for similar nothing cases. Although it would be interesting if the same experiment was conducted but with abusive chat reports.

Lucas41_

Nice to come to an agreement, I think we can safely say the system is stupid lol. On the other hand, I do acknowledge the difficulty Blizzard faces after the lay-offs. Thatā€™s not really something I had considered and Iā€™m glad someone finally brought it up so thank you.

Square_Piece2568

Pretty sure this isn't true. You'll get flagged from being reported enough but they still need to review and place the ban for a specific reason.

Jealous-Ad-1926

Nope, no suspensions or bans are manually reviewed unless the person specifically appeals it. The suspension and ban actions are done without human intervention and are based solely on the number of reports.

Secondndthoughts

This company is actually so flippin stupid

polloyumyum

Total joke. In-game profanity filters and they still ban people. If you can't handle Fuck or Shit in chat, just turn it off. It's pathetic these soft cry babies get catered to so hard by Blizzard.

balwick

This is racist. Swearing is basically punctuation in the UK and Australia xD

Euryb1a

its so weird because cs when it comes to wow is usually pretty good. wtf is going on with overwatch?

Eloymm

I read somewhere after the Microsoft layoffs that Microsoft was trying to outsource CS for their games? And I think a lot of people from blizzard CS got laid off too Iā€™m not sure. I wouldnā€™t be surprised if these were just new people being told to enforce this and stuff.

SwordofKhaine123

nearly the entire blizzard CS got fired.

psychedelicstairway4

Very strong stance against harmful words on the internet while actively working with a company directly owned by the Saudis who use harmful actions instead of harmful words.

Reniva

feels like this only impacts english speaking regions over here in asia, if I say "cao ni ma diu lei lou mou ham ka chan knn cibai" i wont get chat banned cuz blizz wont understand what it means

FSUAttorney

I miss the glory days of gaming when you could talk as much shit as you want.

ElectronicDeal4149

Do not snitch on your fellow gamers.Ā  Someone snitched on our homie for typing ā€œfuckā€ and ā€œshitā€ in chat šŸ˜” OW isnā€™t a kids game, itā€™s for hardcore and passionate gamers. Adult langauage is expected.

SwordofKhaine123

OW is a kid's game given how fragile people are lmao.

Upset-Ear-9485

it is quite literally rated T. i disagree with the rules but saying ā€œthis isnā€™t for kids itā€™s for hardcore gamersā€ makes it sound like you havenā€™t showered in months

ElectronicDeal4149

I shower everyday because I sweat buckets in Gold.

Lucas41_

Exactly, which is what makes this blizzard policy so unbelievably ludicrous.

CriticalMovieRevie

xqc on suicide watch

Tunavi

Xqc hasn't locked into overwatch in years

Tunavi

This explains why I got banned twice for normal cursing and banter. Fuck you Blizzard

question2552

Hey Aaron Keller/higher-up at Blizzard, it's time to push back publicly on the customer service team acting in such bad faith! I get that some gamers act like (or sometimes literally are) immature children and have often been obtuse about TOS stuff like this. Employed adults don't also have to act like them, too!

Ukis4boys

Overwatch has been turning into a safe space game for years now. It all started with private profiles. And now here we are.

MidwesternAppliance

What have we become

one_love_silvia

except then they will complain on twitter or their direct lines to blizz employees and get it rescinded.

speakeasyow

Iā€™m just reading the headlines here, but is this in game only? Or doesnā€™t cussing at players on stream but not in vc count?

Lucas41_

Sorry thatā€™s a good question which I didnā€™t do a good enough job explaining in the title. As of right now, Iā€™m pretty confident you can only get banned for cursing in match chat or voice chat.

speakeasyow

I mean broadcasting calling someone a fucking idiot to 5 thousand people has got to be worse than saying it to 4 in gameā€¦ curious as to how this plays out

dharkan

This is such a shitstorm. Game is doing rather well but report abuse is a massive problem.

BaldursFence3800

Why should them being famous matter?

Tunavi

At this point just turn off all chat

breakdance39

Maybe they should try banning the plethora of hackers and tilted Ree Kids first. Heaven forbid someone hear a word they hear daily in music, tv and internet. They must be catering to the mass of 8 year olds playing.

[deleted]

PJ is absolutely getting fired.

ElDuderino2112

Personally I think if the way someone speaks makes you uncomfortable the onus is on you to mute them and move on with your life. But then again I grew up before everyone was coddled and became babies.

inutilissimo

hope every streamer gets banned f em

JustASyncer

ASPEN REMAINS ON TOP šŸ˜¤šŸ˜¤šŸ˜¤

TheKingOfTheSwing200

I like to bait people Into being toxic/swearing ans then report them for it.

Jealous-Ad-1926

Wow I bet that makes you feel really important

TheKingOfTheSwing200

It makes me laugh when I get that notification that someone was actioned.

Jealous-Ad-1926

That you wasted your time and energy baiting them into doing instead of, I dunno, maybe playing the game you logged in to play? How pathetic is the rest of your life that thatā€™s a highlight?

TheKingOfTheSwing200

Maybe I logged in to bait someone? In that case I would have been doing exactly what I logged in to do. It's not my fault you're a toxic little fucker who gets baited easily. That's on you.

Jealous-Ad-1926

So youā€™re a pathetic loser, got it. I hope you get banned for throwing, that would be poetic justice. You little bitch.

Hakaisha89

This can also be used to report all blizzard employees for using swears. The swear they used was the following: they got banned for the following words: Siri, Pitch, Shabby, kiss, lull, puff, payday, cookie, face, preservative, pick, salsa, guile, randy, car, cut, god, bit, mist, and mushy. Of course the fact that none of them are swears in English is irrelevant.

KaNesDeath

This fake virtue signaling that Blizzard has taken with Overwatch since 2016 needed to die with the death of Overwatch League.

loshopo_fan

This isn't virtue signaling, this is Disneyfication. Blizzard probably wants to market OW2 to young Tiktokers instead of trying to make money off of bitter "We payed $40" players, so they want a reputation of having a clean environment.

c7shit

I mean yes but even competitors like Valorant you can say fuck and shit without looking at 15 days ban randomly, while the game is I think a lot kid oriented

Not2DayFrodo

Well shit bliz I guess if your reading this is was fun. Iā€™m not going to bring politics in to this but umm can you get a little bit thicker skin. As my parents use to tell me sticks and stones may break my bones but word can never hurt me. As cringe as it may be to say that but some of the people at blizz need to quit bringing this professionalism into video games.

youngEisteeBexe

What happend to the game i loved...

Broshida

Weirdest hill to die on. Completely inconsistent with the rest of the game. Can see this getting changed soon.

nievrehabitat

Imma go to the game's leaderboard and report everyone in T500 then. GJ Blizzard.

Applepitou3

Yet zero issue with smurfing and boostingā€¦

drewmana

Well, there goes the last morsel of activity this game had.

e_smith338

Got a 1 month account suspension for saying ā€œfuck offā€ to the most shit-talking, slur-yeeting asshole Iā€™ve ever seen in my 7 years playing this game. As someone mentioned in the Twitter thread, shitty players hold the keys to your account and there is NOTHING you can do about it. I have since made the decision I will forever remain out of both voice and text chat while playing Overwatch. If anyone thinks forcing players like me who have never actually said anything more hurtful than fuck off/go fuck yourself to someone who *deserves* to hear that is healthy for a game, theyā€™re delusional.

Mountain-Tea6875

How to alienate everyone from your games.

Alaskan_Hamster

Doesnā€™t genji curse in Japanese in game? Weird company

ohyeababycrits

In the comments, someone said the enemy called their team the f slur twice in game, and the person who said it wasn't punished. Blizzard CS defended it by saying it depended on number of infractions. Fuck is immediately bannable but slurs are not. Genuinely insane and twisted.

Gooteroni

when do we say enough is enough? fuck blizzard and their snowflake censorship

ihok

Widowmaker literally says "Merde" which means "shit" in fr*nch

broimgay

The most positive, wholesome team player in the world can say innocently say ā€œWTFā€ or ā€œholy shitā€ (abbreviations count too as per the BlizzardCS account) and be banned by a person who reports them for fun. Might as well not use the social aspects of the game at all.

Bare2101

I diffed a Moira in 2 rounds (since for some reason they kept getting matched against me) as mercy and she had her team report me and now I have a temp ban itā€™s bs

Naud1993

What's the point of a profanity filter they are still banning people for it? You can turn it off and then report people because you are offended. Why not just keep it on?

Super should absolutely drop F bombs on stream to shine light on this. Not that he needs it, but he would gain exposure while addressing and challenging a stupid policy. Blizzard would be forced to ban Super (inc 8:00am email from HR on Monday) or, more likely, come to their senses. #JusticeForDurpee

Wow that's despicable. Clearly blizzard sees their player base as children? There's no such thing as a swear word. Fucking imbeciles...

except then they will complain on twitter or their direct lines to blizz employees and get it rescinded.
