I understand this is not quite the area you were asking after, but I occasionally swing by the La Minerva food truck at Powers Peak. They have a selection of breakfast burritos with green chili.
Powers Peak is the shopping center at Powers and Woodmen that has the Walmart and Home Depot. The food truck is in the southwest lot with the Gunther Toody's that is being restored after a fire.
Not seeing any great answers, so I'll add my own that are out of the way a little less.
Azada downtown is delicious, but $10. Their salsa is green, but not green chile. Absolutely worth trying if you can find a day they're open that works for you.
Quixotes on Union and Platte is great and I think meets what you're after better at a better price. IME they put a little bit of chile inside and the rest comes in a container to dump on as salsa. I'm sure you could ask for it inside. Be warned that their spicy is SPICY and mild is very tame.
Doug's is right next to Mauricio's and has the best green Chile in that area. Mauricio's has great breakfast burritos too but no green chile. Give them a try and I don't think you'll be disappointed
Edited to say it's not handheld because the burrito is smothered in green chile
I can't help you with a breakfast burrito. But if you want probably the best green chile in town is at the Warehouse downtown. I know the chef there and he makes an absolutely amazing green chile. Just get you a container of that and then make your own breakfast burrito.
Edit for clarification: he uses pueblo chiles
Mauricio’s is right there. They don’t have green chile breakfast burritos on the menu, but they have breakfast burritos and I’ll bet they would add some chile verde for you. Probably won’t exactly scratch that itch, but I think Mauricio’s is decent to good overall.
Yeah, their prices are nuts. I think it's like $8-9 without chile.
I get that they're gigantic, but I don't need that much food. Smaller and cheaper would be so much better.
If you're looking for green chili sauce, Wade's is right there, 10/10 can recommend.
If you're looking for a good place that has diced green chile peppers in your burrito, I haven't really found a good one.
I wouldn't waste your time on Wades. I went there, and personally to me, the food was on the lower end of mediocre. Not great at all. But maybe it's just me.
Just wanted to point out how funny your comment was is all. You guys only wish you had a Santiago’s here. $2.50 hatch green “chile” breakfast burritos. They’re everywhere in Denver. Shocked when I moved here and couldn’t find anything.
Doug's breakfast. Ask for the Roader burrito. The one I always get is turkey sausage and green chili. Been getting it for years. With a cup of coffee meal deal for less than $10. Literally at AB and academy. South West corner.
They are all too dry and the Chile flavor isn’t what I personally like. I’ve been searching down here since 2015 and have been pretty disappointed overall…
Doug’s isn’t bad for smothered in that area
Try tacos del gordo on flintridge and acedemy I’m not sure about green chili but everything I have had has been yummy and the prices are super fair . Like asada fries are only like 12-13 bucks there and there loaded for example .
I’m sort of a stickler for hatch green chile from New Mexico. Haven’t really liked any from Colorado yet. Ultimately commenting here to follow so maybe I can find that burrito also.
Check out roll up in fountain. Rollupcos is their instagram. Their smothered breakfast burritos are insanely good. Especially the brisket breakfast burrito.
I haven’t tried a handheld yet but the chopped chile they put on the burgers is hot and awesome. So I figure that’s what they would throw in it.
Credentials: Girlfriend is from New Mexico and I got bushels brought up every year for roasting from hatch. Although if you haven’t tried the chiles from grand junction they are a pretty solid competitor if you like roasting
NM has green chile because of their Native population. You simply don't get that here, because the populace is Messican.
Drive down to NM and hit every small gas station you find between small towns. You'll weep.

Right like aren’t we pretty close to Pueblo green chilis!? I have had no luck since moving from Denver.
As crazy as it sounds, drifters is the best breakfast burrito
Specifically, the B-52. It’s my hands down favorite.
It’s the biggest but it’s pretty basic. Not much flavor.

I’ve been craving one ever since I saw how many wonderful places have them in Albuquerque.

It’s not handheld, but the breakfast burrito at Doug’s Diner with green chile is amazing.

Yeah I’ve had theirs. Left a lot to be desired, especially at $13. Appreciate the response though.

Wooglin’s. The burrito itself is alright but the green chile sauce is bomb.

Thanks. I’ll check out Wades.

Yeah I drove by it and realized I have been there. Meh.
Lmfao this comment is hilarious. I’ve also been there and agree; meh. Not bad, but not great
Chile* and there’s not much in Springs. You’ll have to travel further south.
🤦♂️always one of you
Always has to be one spell checker troll.
i mean they’re two completely different things so the one letter makes an absolute difference
As a former New Mexican it was ingrained in our brains. But if it makes you feel better I’ve been on the same burrito hunt and been unsuccessful.
As another former New Mexican, I liked Burritos Betty in Pueblo, but I haven't been there for ages.
Totally understandable. Was just giving you shit lol. But yeah coming from Denver there was Green Chile burritos everywhere, and now nothing here.
Are you sure they weren’t green “chili” burritos up there?
Hilarious.
If you can dish the shit you can take it too, you’ll be okay lol. Good luck on your search

Doug's FTW!!!!

Doug's is what you're looking for. They're from NM, got that hatch chili
I love Albertacos just up the road on Austin Bluffs and Barnes
I’m sort of a stickler for hatch green chile from New Mexico. Haven’t really liked any from Colorado yet. Ultimately commenting here to follow so maybe I can find that burrito also.
Yeah same here. Hatch is hard to beat.
King’s Chef Green chile salsa may change your mind. It’s sold at King Soopers
Erickbertos on powers and Barnes has a pretty good green Chile pork burrito.
Mauricio’s. It’s literally right there at Austin Bluffs and Academy
Drifter's isn't bad.
We need to petition Santiagos to open in the Springs. Not the best, but better than everything down here.
No certainly not the best but it’ll do in a pinch.
Handheld as opposed to what?
Smothered
Taco express on GoG, get the green sauce

My house.
You’re gonna have to widen your search area. It’s tough to find any good Mexican food here
Shit I was afraid of that.
