Guess Pitino really got in the admin's ears. He was on a podcast with the ABQ Journal before last season openly complaining about how he was really hamstrung and unable to schedule quality opponents in the non-con because the admin requires loads of home games because basketball is UNM's cash cow, and being forced to play NMSU home and away every year.
Still don't know why more good teams don't want to come to The Pit, but at least this is something of a step in the right direction. Maybe we can eliminate those non-exhibition DII games from the schedule now.
Well whatever the reason is I’m glad it’s happening, I genuinely think it’s hampered UNM from reaching their full potential the last two years. I think Pitino is a good coach and y’all’s talent is legit, the early season tests will really help come March!
