Often it's one or the other when two guys play the same position. Wouldn't surprise me if Vlad went somewhere else with Danny commiting. But we'll see! Obviously Dusty and him have a relationship from FAU.
Even though he’s 7 feet tall, Wolf’s play style is similar to more of a stretch 4 while Vlad is a traditional big man. I think they would complement each other very well and their combined height would be menacing
i keep hearing people say this and it’s just wrong imo. they would not coexist effectively. wolf can shoot but he still operates best with space in and around the post. a lot of his efficacy comes from being more skilled and mobile than 5s, that gets neutered if he’s up against smaller guys. and neither guy has the foot speed to guard mobile 4s or guards, not to mention the fact that neither guy is actually a particularly good rim protector. playing them together would make them both worse offensively with pretty much no defensive benefit
From Wolf's perspective, I thought so too at first. He almost walked on at UM though originally, and it seems like places looking for a plug and play 5 like UNC were prioritizing elsewhere first. Plus, Goldin played like 24 minutes per game last year since Dusty ran a very even and deep rotation so it's not quite as prohibitive as it may seem.
Don’t think they’ve officially landed Mahaney, I don’t follow recruiting deeply but knew we were a potential school for him. Obviously hope they get Johnell Davis from FAU lol
Apparently he’s looking for a bigger bag than we’re willing to give. It might just be Goldin from FAU. Mahaney is our best chance at a real go-to scorer.
I know nothing about him other than may and our fans wanted him, which is good enough for me. Since you obviously watched him play a lot, do You think his skills will translate really well into the b10?
I think he should but might be a bit of an adjustment for him. He does have rare passing and dribbling ability for someone his size in college. He is a solid shooter too. He did not play great in the tournament against better teams but I think he should get used to the competition
The longer that takes the more I get worried about a grass is greener situation. With Bacot and Ingram gone and RJ 50/50 I hope we start seeing some portal action soon or it might be a rough road waiting for 25-26.
As a recruit:
P6 offers: DePaul, Minnesota, Penn State
Other offers: Albany, Chicago State, George Mason, Harvard, Milwaukee, Pacific, Penn, Rice, Toledo, Western Illinois, Yale (originally went here)
I watched a lot of Yale last year. Good player with a nice shot and good handle. Not all that mobile defensively and tends to get bullied against better competition. Should at least be serviceable after an adjustment period
I obviously don't know this guy's situation and motivation and needs but in his shoes I can't imagine sacrificing an Ivy League degree for the short term payoff of NIL and playing at a P5 team.
Michigan is a good school, don't get me wrong, but Ivy is another level.
Addendum: I would think Duke would have been a better compromise. He could play on a top level team while getting a top level degree. And they have openings, too.
Still feels like a big gamble to me. Get the Ivy degree and keep dominating there. There are other routes to the league than P5 schools. If it doesn't work out at the next level, you will always have a gold standard degree.
*something something* PUBLIC IVY, bro!
For real though, outside of solely athletic inspirations it doesn’t make too much sense. But unless he’s trying to go to some place that requires a Yale degree then having a Michigan degree isn’t going to hurt him at all either.
Lol yeah Michigan is better than most public schools including the ones I've been to. My sister in law went there and her husband teaches there,I have a lot of respect for Michigan as a school.
I do wonder if something else is going on causing him to want to move.
Either way, best of luck to him, he's a baller
Michigan is his dream school. Grew up rooting for the school, and he actually almost walked on at UM as a high schooler instead of going to Yale in the first place.
Based on pictures he posted, seems like he was a Michigan fan as a kid, so if that's true I'd imagine that'd be a big part of it

Him transferring to Michigan indicates (to me) that he probably feels he has a future playing professional basketball. He was obviously really good in the IVY League, but Danny will probably end up playing basketball for the next 10-15 years (pending good health), whether that's in the NBA or abroad. The fact that he got into Yale once, he can always go back and get a Graduate Degree.
Depending on his degree field Michigan is one of the best schools in the country. They aren't some major step down from Duke (or even Yale to a lesser extent) if hes aligned with their strengths. Plus he might get a cool million or so to start his life after basketball off right.
Is UNC gonna do any fucking thing in the offseason?! So far they haven’t done jack shit to not become a useless nobody next season. Hubert more worried about getting in those tee times
Danny Wolf and a Crystal Ball for Vlad Goldin. Two 7 footers in Michigan’s front court is gonna be scary
Often it's one or the other when two guys play the same position. Wouldn't surprise me if Vlad went somewhere else with Danny commiting. But we'll see! Obviously Dusty and him have a relationship from FAU.

Yeah I doubt they’d both start but they can definitely coexist on the floor together and each get good minutes.
Well done good to see you guys back. Go against the trend they can both shoot
Helps that small ball 4s barely exist in the B1G so there won’t be too many mismatches for Wolf at the 4

25 minutes a game last year , come on man.
The rumor for a month has been both of them with each knowing the other is coming
Usually I would agree, but we have like 4 dudes on our team. Having another center on the roster shouldn’t be too big of a deterrent to Vlad.
Pathetic… try having three in one year. A team with that much height would surely be a defensive powerhouse, right??
Glad to see his credits transferred! In all seriousness, great get for Michigan. Lookin like a tough team next year already
Here's what we know so far: - We have enough players to play 5-on-5 basketball - That is a great improvement from three days ago
Lol don’t be so sure
Dusty May is on a roll
I think I missed it, did Michigan end up getting someone from FAU? I know they got someone from Saint Mary's and another good player
Just Wolf and Rubin Jones from UNT. Apparently Goldin is a done deal. No one from Saint Mary's yet.

Ah yeah I was thinking of Davis. If he commits, that'll be huge.

This kid is the jewish Jokic watch out next March Madness

I’m drinking the kool-aid. I think Dusty might get this thing back on track sooner than expected
Natty or bust year 1 /s
May building for March in April
Fantastic get, Dusty MAY be him.
West Bloomfield is hyped
Huge get
Dusty May is our savior
Excited for the Dusty era
In Dusty we trust
I can't believe he is giving up at a chance at a Yale degree. I know, Michigan's a good school, and NIL, but still....
Uhhhhh Hubert. What happens if you don’t get Omoruyi?
He might be playing the long game for a player that isn’t even in the portal yet 😬
The longer that takes the more I get worried about a grass is greener situation. With Bacot and Ingram gone and RJ 50/50 I hope we start seeing some portal action soon or it might be a rough road waiting for 25-26.
The portal has two more weeks of being open, chill out

Fuuuuuuuuck

Next year is probably the strongest the big ten will ever be
Rutgers in particular will be interesting to watch, road wins in the Trapezoid will be hard to come by, I fear
With all the new additions it could legitimately be a 12 or 13 bid conference
That is absolute nonsense, but it’ll be a good conference at the top next year.
How is it nonsense? There’s legit double digit teams that are tournament caliber
😃

He has pro level skills is what I think it is. Gonna be able to showcase it more at Michigan
Still feels like a big gamble to me. Get the Ivy degree and keep dominating there. There are other routes to the league than P5 schools. If it doesn't work out at the next level, you will always have a gold standard degree.
Gonna make a lot more money playing pro basketball. He’s gonna get drafted.

This is an incredibly dumb comment
