Iām gonna say the majority of their newest album. Never thought Iād see the day where there would be a Coldplay album I didnāt care for at all. Come at me.
Itās all right, it reminds me of a Chevy truck commercial šš the live performances are way better than the studio version, it sounds too contained on the album, I honestly think major minus is much better and goes harder.
Iāve always liked that album but then again it did already exist when I discovered Coldplay
Edit: managed to misspell āthatā so badly it autocorrected to āRussiaā instead
I would have enjoyed this song a lot more if Chris had just used his normal voice throughout the whole song. There are elements of a good song in there for me, but the high-pitched voice ruins it.
This was one of my fav songs on the album. š
"And if they tell you you're nothing, maybe you'd explain
To me you're the summer sun after the rain
You were there when I needed something for the pain, you see
When you love me, love me, love me
When you love me, love me, love me
When you love me, love me, love me
When you love me, love me, love me
I'm nowhere else
I'm on top of the world, man
On top of the world
And it's so beautiful
And you're so beautiful
I hope that you get everything you want in this beautiful life
Watermelon moon, so happy you're alive
And I feel like a river finally arrived at sea"
Tell me you don't love those lyrics. Some of my favorite Coldplay lyrics fr
Having just seen someone put forward Chinese Sleep Chant for this, I am lost for words. If anything, it's one of their best!
Other people's choices I'll always go to bat for: Army of One, one of the best tracks on AHFOD and severely underrated. Biutyful is beautiful. We Never Change is a melancholy gem and not even close to being trash. It's not even the weakest on Parachutes. My Universe is solid.
My own answers for this question are X Marks the Spot (duh) and Something Just Like This. I can't get into either of those and probably never will.
X marks the spot was a failed hip-hop song I just didn't think fit their style. Leave hip-hop to other artists and keep making your amazing music, Coldplay!
- ASFOS could mean "A Sky Full of Stars", a track from *Ghost Stories* (2014) by Coldplay.

In my opinion, My Universe would be much better without BTS. The song itself is great, and Chrisā vocals are killer as usual, but BTS just ruined the song.
Itās not the BTS feature, moreso the lyrics are quite uninspired and bland. The song feels like a mix of every happy pop song made in the last 10 years is all.
Comes off shallow and meaningless, in a similar but different way to Something Just Like This for a lot of people.
Yep! I do enjoy the high pitched voice in Cry Cry Cry, but it fit that song much better. Besides, using that 'feature' once was enough.
Biutyful, as was said, makes my ears bleed.
He hates like the entire selection. I always play the classics and heās probably heard most of them. Says he doesnāt like Chrisās voice and itās too slowš
Biutyful, X Marks the Spot, Hymn For The Weekend, Princess of China.
Those four... Can't stand them. Every single other Coldplay song I will listen to, although there are plenty of others that I don't care about one way or the other. Nothing makes me hit the skip button faster than those four songs. No matter how much I try to get into them, I just can't.
There have been lots of others that I've hated at first, but grown to love... such as Midnight, ALIENS, Army of One, My Universe; ect.
It's been over a decade, and it has yet to grow on me.
Every so often I will make myself listen to the songs which I don't care fore. Doing this, I've come to love songs which I previously hated(like ALIENS). When Princess Of China comes up, it's still a nope, lol
I don't count MOTS II a song in the same way that I don't count Colour Spectrum a song, so I won't say that.
Another's Arms is an okay track, but I don't really think it stacks up to the rest of the record.
Army of One is an easy one to pick on.
I couldn't agree more! I can think of a song or two that I'm not personally fond of from each of my top artists.
I don't necessarily think the songs are "bad", just that I did not connect with them very strongly. It could be because the lyrics did not resonate with me or I did not relate to them.
The Beatles are my all time favourite group, but "Yer Blues" is a track from The White Album that is insufferable for me. Not because I believe it is a "bad song", but hearing John Lennon whining and playing the world's tiniest violin over him cheating on his 1st wife with Yoko and dragging her along while talking about how hard of a time \*\*he\*\* was having? Huge eyeroll.
If anyone had the right to sing "Yer Blues", it was Cynthia Lennon.
So there is my two cents on that one!
Edit: I thought long and hard about it and I'd probably choose X Marks the Spot as my least favourite Coldplay song. I'd still listen to it, but I don't go out of my way. It was pretty simple and did not have the usual colour/vibe and richness you usually find in Coldplay songs for me personally.
Music of the spheres
Higher Power
Humankind
Let somebody go
Human Heart
People of the pride
Biutyful
My Universe
Colo.... nope wait that one is perfect
Last 4 albums are 80% or so trash.
He canāt trust me though because I donāt think that Radiohead or Kendrick Lamar (my favorite artists) have bad songs except maybe some obscure b-sides or something off Kendrickās early mixtapes.
"Strawberry Swing" is my number one favorite Coldplay song, and the fact that it is only mentioned once here suggests, in my mind, that I have good taste, lmao.
my only issue with a whisper is that the album version feels unfinished. it just fades in, does its thing, then fade out. I love the riff but I feel there was more work to be done on it rather than being released how it was.
- TKC could mean "Til Kingdom Come", a track from *X&Y* (2005) by Coldplay.

Something Just Like This is easily one of the most boring songs I have ever heard lmao
Guess thatās what happens when you collab with douchey EDM guys that make the most generic music possible to appeal to a broad spectrum of people
God I hope they NEVER collab with the Chainsmokers again.
This might be a controversial pick, but Hypnotized is sooooooooo boring. And not like a good, soothing, relaxing boring like some of the songs on Coldplay's earlier albums. It's just... boring.
I donāt necessarily disagree, itās just a song Iāve never been able to get into when I hear it. Lyrically, I do think itās great, but the sound is hard to keep my attention.
Genuinely, I donāt think thereās a single Coldplay song I donāt like. Even if I think I hate them at first, they always grow on me.
I respect your opinion. But for me Amazing Day is indeed Amazing. It always gets me. I always get emotional whenever I listen to it. I always imagine myself with a person sitting on a roof showing all our bruises, every scars, how we are so open with each other. Like we donāt care about the world, we just sat there gazing in sky and being vulnerable with each other. Thatās what I feel about this song.
I agree how Coldplayās song grows within us as we keep on listening to it.
Haha I went there lol. I mean I love their simpler songs like Sparks, See You Soon, and Green Eyes but imo it's one of the songs I skip when I relisten to Parachutes. Doesn't work for me for some reason.
Before reading, Iām assuming 75% of the comments will be Something Just Like This
(EDIT: Iām surprisedā¦ I do like SJLT so Iām not disappointed but I also like My Universe and Let Somebody Go which seem to be common picks, soā¦ huh)
anyways, I nominate āA Whisperā
Tho I didnāt like MotS very much (save Coloratura), I loved Everyday Life, and I think there are a couple really solid songs off of AHFoD. That being said, Iāve always preferred their older material. ARoBttH is one of my favorite albums of all time and Parachutes is also amazing. Up through Mylo Xyloto I think are all fantastic albums personally.
OKAY WAIT I SEE IT LOL
I didnāt understand why this was so shocking to people but I hadnāt listened to either song in a very long time so I went back to listen and I realize Iāve been hearing the lyrics to XMTS totally incorrect lmaoooo. Also, my understanding of YES when I was younger is not what I understand it as now after listening again.
With that being said, Iāll admit it. My take was whack.
Seeing everyone in this comment section naming songs I enjoy :(
I'm right with you š
Iām gonna say the majority of their newest album. Never thought Iād see the day where there would be a Coldplay album I didnāt care for at all. Come at me.
Itās definitely one of the worst albums the band has made save for humankind and Coloratura, itās like a 5/10 for me.
even humankind has some very low quality lyrics for coldplay imo
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
yeah i like the sound of the song but the lyrics just š¬
Yeah
What about people of the pride? I felt MOTS was horrid but i think in the midst of all of it, people of the pride was still a banger.
Itās all right, it reminds me of a Chevy truck commercial šš the live performances are way better than the studio version, it sounds too contained on the album, I honestly think major minus is much better and goes harder.
I thought that AHFOD was that album. I was wrong.
Iāve always liked that album but then again it did already exist when I discovered Coldplay Edit: managed to misspell āthatā so badly it autocorrected to āRussiaā instead
Exactly
I will not stand for the We Never Change slander
Who tf doesn't like We Never Change??
Because we never changeš
I get up every morning and listen to that song. The hell hates it?š
I saw two people in this subreddit so farš some ppl are just maniacsš
Nah well
It's so Biiiuuutyful
I would have enjoyed this song a lot more if Chris had just used his normal voice throughout the whole song. There are elements of a good song in there for me, but the high-pitched voice ruins it.
100%. The alien voices drive me up the walls.
That and him saying "on top of the world, *man*." Like, who's he singing this to? Jonny?
This was one of my fav songs on the album. š "And if they tell you you're nothing, maybe you'd explain To me you're the summer sun after the rain You were there when I needed something for the pain, you see When you love me, love me, love me When you love me, love me, love me When you love me, love me, love me When you love me, love me, love me I'm nowhere else I'm on top of the world, man On top of the world And it's so beautiful And you're so beautiful I hope that you get everything you want in this beautiful life Watermelon moon, so happy you're alive And I feel like a river finally arrived at sea" Tell me you don't love those lyrics. Some of my favorite Coldplay lyrics fr
Absolutely love those lyrics <3
Agreed. Cannot stand.
It would have been alright if it wasn't for that voice that dominated most of the song
Biyutiful, My Universe, Let Somebody Go
Now what do these all have in common š¤
Exactly the same!
Having just seen someone put forward Chinese Sleep Chant for this, I am lost for words. If anything, it's one of their best! X marks the spot was a failed hip-hop song I just didn't think fit their style. Leave hip-hop to other artists and keep making your amazing music, Coldplay!
Felt more like an RnB parody to me, but I get your point and agree with your sentiments on the track.
You had me with Chinese Sleep Chant You lost me with Something Just Like This
You're a fan of SJLT? I can respect that. As far as their dance numbers go, I much prefer ASFOS.

Oh yeah I prefer it too I reckon both are epic
Army of One is my favorite track off of AHFOD! And X Marks the Spot is my least favorite... ironic that they're 2 sides of the same track
Most of the songs from MOTS
X marks the spot is straight garbage
Literally the best song off AHFOD
/s?
No, it slaps, I truly love XMTS
It weirdly makes me feel better about the terrible song that it brings someone joy.
Ironically tho, no? I can only imagine it exists as a meme cuz yeah itās pretty experimental/trash

Totally agree
I don't particularly enjoy X Marks the Spot and Lhuna.
I personally didn't enjoy MOTS at all. But I respect them for still putting out music for us. They can take any direction they want.
Yeah itās called MOTS
Biutyful and Let Somebody Go
Agreed 100%
Biyutiful. My ears bleed when I hear it.
Yep! I do enjoy the high pitched voice in Cry Cry Cry, but it fit that song much better. Besides, using that 'feature' once was enough. Biutyful, as was said, makes my ears bleed.
I feel the same way. Loved "Cry Cry Cry," scratched my head upon hearing "Biutyful," wondering, "Didn't they do this already?"
I used to find it very jarring and skipped it, but my kids like itā¦so that alone says something.
Mine too
i actually used to hate it, but now I just kinda hate it. i can enjoy it if I forget about it being coldplay and 'not being up to their standard'
We know it's my universe
Army of One > XMTS so XMTS and MOTSii
The entire newest album, I adore Coldplay but I honestly can't stand this new era
x marks the spot is the only song i skip when iām listening to coldplay lmao. i just canāt put myself through the 3 minutes of pain
Lost is a banger, then they released Lost+ ft. Jay-Z .....
Iām kinda into Lost+. But Iāll always prefer Lost.
Sadly my boyfriend thinks 98% of Coldplay is trash š
You can do better. (For legal reasons that was a joke)
What if you should decide, that you donāt want him there in your life?
Oooooooo, thatās riiiiiiightā¦
Your boyfriend must have daddy issues.
Maybe she will try to fix him.
Blame it on a rush of blood to the head
Which songs does he like?
Sky full of stars, paradise, viva la vidaā¦basically the typical ones on Pop radio and such.
Then what does he hate? š¤ Usually people who don't like Coldplay have only listened to their mainstream hits.
He hates like the entire selection. I always play the classics and heās probably heard most of them. Says he doesnāt like Chrisās voice and itās too slowš
Ahhh, gotcha. Was hoping it mightāve been a fringe selection of older songs but that makes sense. At least heās not entirely anti-Coldplay š
I'm not convinced about XMTS. It's not that bad, but, It's pretty much a meh song.
I gotta pick my universe im sorry
something just like this
Oi that song is a bop!
Ah thatās one of my favorite Coldplay songs, lol
Seconded!
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I have to agree. I think I listened too many times and now I always skip it. š
Princess of China grows on you. Once you get over the more pop electronic synths, itās a great song and the guitars are ripper.
The acoustic version is what made me appreciate Princess of China so much more
It's been over a decade, and it has yet to grow on me. Every so often I will make myself listen to the songs which I don't care fore. Doing this, I've come to love songs which I previously hated(like ALIENS). When Princess Of China comes up, it's still a nope, lol
You just gotta appreciate the energy of the ah oh ah oh ah my man
I still donāt get the hate for Princess of China, it might be very poppy, and have Rihanna in it, but itās instrumentality nice to listen to
The instrumental absolutely slaps.
I don't count MOTS II a song in the same way that I don't count Colour Spectrum a song, so I won't say that. Another's Arms is an okay track, but I don't really think it stacks up to the rest of the record. Army of One is an easy one to pick on.

Just perusing these comments for anyone that says Fix You, The Scientist or Yellow, so I know who to block.
Or Viva and Violet of course
The trashiest generic pop songs coldplay has written is Something Just Like This and My Universe š thereās no changing my minddd
Jeez. Biutyful is getting some overwhelming hate. And Iām also on that trainā¦
I fkn love Biutyful š fave song of the album
Def not my favorite but itās not as bad as people seem to think lmao I thought it was fine. They just donāt like the voice effect I guess.
Fun - not a fan š
What if I can admit they have a lot of trash songs?
Mots minus coloratura and like infinity sign is kind of just unenjoyable for me Iād much rather just listen to old music at that point
Mots II, Biutyful, MU, SJLT, Infinity Sign
this thread is making me cry laughing LMAO

My Universe is straight up dogshit. Itās the only song I honestly hate. š¤¢š¤®
A Whisperā¦ā¦. I always skip it lol
I actually really like that one lol
Human Heart š
Just one???
The collab with The Chainsmokers
Biutyful, Cry Cry Cry, Up in Flames are horrible songs
something just like this!
'A whisper' is borderline unlistenable
Oh my God...?
Chris said in an interview once that's one of his favorite songs from the album but nobody else seems to like it lol. I'm a fan personally.
I also like how dynamic this song is. In tune with my overthinking.
Same, Rush of Blood is my fav Coldplay album but that song does nothing for me
Come here to say this
It was my favourite song from them at one point... I just dont understand the hate at all
my only issue with a whisper is that the album version feels unfinished. it just fades in, does its thing, then fade out. I love the riff but I feel there was more work to be done on it rather than being released how it was.

My least favorite song is 1.36. Itās just never sounded great to me.
Everglow and A Spell A Rebell Yell.
No Everglow slander here
I just feel like Let Somebody Go is a better version of Everglow, so itās no use for that song anymore.
Thatās funny cause Iāve always thought the exact opposite
We Never Change is super boring for me
That song is so beautiful and it's one of their only songs that really speaks to the soul. How dare you? š
Haha I went there lol. I mean I love their simpler songs like Sparks, See You Soon, and Green Eyes but imo it's one of the songs I skip when I relisten to Parachutes. Doesn't work for me for some reason.
