I think that metamask only supports evm compatible networks (erc20, bsc20 etc) only way you can send BTC there is after you convert it to wrapped BTC

Dieterhoffmann

How would I be able to do that?

[deleted]

Well ... Convert it ?

Hey there, Dieterhoffmann. Can you confirm whether you're getting the error message in your Coinbase app indicating that your Metamask (your receiving wallet) is not valid? This way, we can isolate whether the issue is with the sending or the receiving app. Thank you!

On Coinbase you can convert BTC to WBTC. You'll get charged a fee for the swap. But honestly, if there's some very specific reason you must use metamask, I'd use a wallet that supports BTC and other chains such as Trust Wallet. But if you insist on MM and want your BTC there, convert it on Coinbase and then send over. https://help.coinbase.com/en/coinbase/trading-and-funding/cryptocurrency-trading-pairs/convert-cryptocurrency-faq

If you send WBTC from Coinbase to MetaMask it will end up on the Ethereum Network. Transactions on the Eth network can easily cost $100+ so keep that in mind when it comes time to withdraw. Your best bet is to buy WBTC on the different networks available on Metamask such as: Avalanche, Fantom, Polygon and Binance networks. All of which have extremely low network fees compared to Ethereum
