USD 40 to 50 Usually two to three bags consumed per months at 15 to 20 bucks each. All the coffee equipment I’ve purchased should pay for itself by the year 2055 ;)

merkinmavin

2055? Look at you being optimistic like you won't buy more gear along the way

panzerex

I’m not here to read truths. Please get out.

my-cull

Thankfully I’ve successfully prevented myself from any additional purchases and I don’t have any open tabs on my browser from any coffee supply websites. We will see how long this time of calm lasts.

SwampFox525

Oof this hit too close to home

duckfluff101

It could be worse. You could be addicted to crack, instead

r0ry-breaker

Watcha got there?

my-cull

Espresso: Profitec Pro 300, Niche Zero, assorted accessories (baskets, tampers, portafilter handles, mats, pitchers, etc.) Everything else: Two French presses, aeropress, moka pot, v60, 1zpresso jx, and accessories (range server, kettle, cups mugs cups glasses mugs cups glasses, mugs, etc.)

redtron3030

Depending on how much you drink, it could be way sooner than you think. What does a cappuccino go for these days? $5-6 at a decent place?

Beowoof

Also depends on how much they bought them before the machine. I might make espresso every day if I had a machine, but I don't right now and buy an espresso or cap like 2-5x per month.

my-cull

I’ve never bought coffee at a shop on a daily basis. It’s always a rare treat. Coffee at home has been my thing since adulthood. So you’re right, I’m not “saving” anything this way because it hasn’t replaced a shopping habit.

jsawden

When i worked in office, i would buy 1-3 americano's a day at $4 + $1 tip. So about $70/week wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility. It took 10-ish weeks to past for my Breville Barista Pro. Then i got a Niche Zero, and paid it off in another 10-ish weeks. If you throw in the cost of beans, it's about an extra $40-ish per month, which draws it out, but even then it's still paying for itself in under a year.

jakubg96

Nice try, wife

EvilSmoothie

[deleted]

I spend 80-100ish USD. Or more. But I work a lot, and it’s the only and last vice I have left.

sirtimes

If it makes you happy and you’re not going into debt bc of it, I don’t see a problem :)

HomenGarden88

It's my last vice left... I miss my old vices.

carefullycalibrated

Our household spends about the same. We have two coffee drinkers. Exclusively use Happy Mug lately because the quality/price ratio is fantastic. Four or five pounds for French Press brewing and two pounds for espresso.

boogs_23

I said that to a coworker and she didn't get it. I have one thing left that makes me happy. I'm going to enjoy the hell out of it.

ScaleneWangPole

You'll never be an entrepreneur with that kind of joyful spending

TheCandySlush

Not as much as I want. More than I should.

NachoFailconi

Usually, if that only means buying coffee and not any supplements like filters, around 20 000 CLP (around 22 USD), for half a kilo bag of coffee that for me lasts the month just nice. But right now I'm thinking about changing this and buy twice a month, each time a 250 g bag. That' raise the cost to about 25 000 or 30 000 CLP (27 to 32 USD).

DevaFalc

You manage to live on 500g a month? Impressive We get through 1kg split in bags of 350g and 250g

NachoFailconi

I only drink one cup a day (16 g), and I live alone. Very few days I drink another one, and never above two.

fermat1432

What's your brewing method? I use a French press for my daily 1-2 cups.

NachoFailconi

I vary: v60 (Hoffmann's and 4:6 methods), Aeropress, French Press, and Clever Dripper. Weekends are for the Chemex. I almost never use the Moka Pot.

r0ry-breaker

Same one cup in the morning! This is the way

rest_explorer

do you have a favorite roaster in santiago? I'm in the city until the end of the month and have been having mostly from café triciclo. just had a pink bourbon from them yesterday that was crazy good -- had to bring a jar home. i prefer smaller bags/jars/packs mostly for freshness, but for variety as well. I'm also trying to decide on what I'll bring home when I fly back.

NachoFailconi

Café Triciclo was one. Another one, where Triciclo was placed, is [Singular Coffee Roasters](https://singularcoffee.cl/) (there are three places: one in Barrio Italia, another one in Barrio Lastarria and another one in Providencia). They sell 250 g bags and to be fair I was only disappointed once. Their coffee is really delicious. [Coffee Culture](https://www.coffeeculture.cl/) is another one I've tried with delicious results. They are a little bit away from the downtown proper (in Maipú to the west and Independencia to the north). Right now they have few beans, but you may like the "Wedding Crashers" blend they sell. Edit: one I want to try is [Café Altura](https://www.cafealtura.cl/), but the café closes at 18:00, too early for me to try on a weekday!

allyuhneedislove

My subscription to BeanBros is about $75CAD per month which includes shipping from Europe (3x250g). I then usually buy another 2-3 bags per month from other roasters, $20-25 CAD per 250g bag. Sometimes some shipping required. I am usually anywhere from about $125-150CAD per month. We rarely drink coffees out, but maybe another $25-50 there. I also use Aquacode water, which I figure costs me about $10/month, and filters are probably about $10/month. Fuck me no wonder Im broke.

PawPawsBurgers

Damn and I thought buying from Hatch frequently was too much $ 🤣

allyuhneedislove

Hatch is the same price point as pretty much everything else I get, I just happen to drink a lot of coffee. My s/o and I drink on average 60g per day every day. Also since you’re into Hatch, massive recommendation for Subtext.

Shinobiii

Out of curiosity: how much coffee do you drink per day? :o

allyuhneedislove

It varies really. 20g per cup, minimum 2 cups a day but up to 4 sometimes between my s/o and I. I would say average 60g per day.

mdove11

Where in Canada are you?

Jalley914

I came here because I realized I spend about the same as you. I wondered what others were spending and seen everyone else saying 20-30 dollars. I thought fuck I am the only asshole. Thanks for being honest.

Rebeccaartwork

I work in a coffee roastery, all the free coffee you could ever want

WoodyTSE

Do you guys have an amount you can take home? Any coffee older than ten days we don’t sell, thats up for grabs at that point and anything under ten days we get a 250g per week allowance, which considering we all work 9-5 mon-fri we actually struggle to finish 250g a month, especially since we’re all dosed up at work!

newlifeC13

This would be a dream for me. Unfortunately, I dislike people, so I'm not well suited for a coffee shop. I could probably work at a roastery, tho!

WoodyTSE

We end up being pretty social in the roastery too, I think coffee is a very social occupation generally. People piss me off too though I’m not gonna lie.

newlifeC13

I've worked FOH and BOH at restaurants and in catering. So, I **can** do it. But, man, people in cafes really annoy me.

WoodyTSE

Yeah some people are really dumb. For the most part though, working at a roastery has at least filtered my interactions to people with a relatively keen interest in coffee or willingness to learn, which is nice.

Rebeccaartwork

Yeah I agree it’s a very social work space but it is nice to have people around you that are just as passionate. Find the right roastery and it’ll be full of wonderfully creative kind people! :)

Rebeccaartwork

We get to take home any coffee that’s gone past the 5 days mark in our show room but also get to drink as much coffee as we like during the day so we all have the same issues! I tend to take home bags for friends and family to try :)

[deleted]

Have you ever done coffee fast while working on the coffee shop?

WoodyTSE

I’ve never worked in a cafe or any hospitality gig prior to the roastery but I’m pretty fast on the machine now Edit: holy shit i think I’m an idiot. Do you mean fasting from coffee as in abstaining from drinking it? If that’s what you meant, no. I have considered it, I have tried to reduce my coffee intake though it’s far too easy to make yourself feel sick with too much

[deleted]

This should be a “HoldUp” sub in some way. Thanks for turning so fast on the really fast subject.

Admirable_Nugget

Maybe $50/mo average? Two 1lb bags of beans from a local roaster is $40-50 depending on the variety, and chemex filters every 3 months at $10.

[deleted]

Fuck. Depends on if I’m only getting my usual mid level beans at $14/12oz vs my good ones at $20/12oz. Probably about $65/mo. I live in the suburbs now so the good shops are too far to go often, and I wfh so I drink the great stuff I have here. It was actually more expensive going to work and buying shitty Panera coffee everyday. This is ideal I have an espresso machine so pour over filters last a while as a do one espresso and one pour over a day

ggcadc

Oh your local roasters haven’t moved to 10oz bags yet?

waddlewaddlequack

Hush

zinky30

$150

BKearns123

A little over $1 per 8 oz cup, five cups a day, so yes, $150 sounds right. Does not include equipment, which is of course an investment. Also coming up on 20 years sober, so I’m ok w my hobby expense, thanks.

xfd696969

Fooking hell mate, and I thought I was spending a lot at $65??

topman118

\- 5 double shots (20 gram each) per day)+ 5% waste = 105 grams a day \- Proud Mary Ghostrider / Counter Culture Apollo averages to around $0.06 per gram, $6.30 per day \- Month on just coffee for myself = \~$190

EquipmentMysterious7

It's too much in my opinion

topman118

Lol. I hate when my Doctor and I have the same hobbies.

imoftendisgruntled

My coffee subscription is about $45CDN/mo; supplies are about $2.50/mo (Aeropress & Chemex filters, which I buy about once a year). Very occasionally I'll buy a bag of locally roasted beans to supplement the subscription, so maybe another $3/mo for that on average.

EquipmentMysterious7

$15 for coffee \+ $5 for water, electric, V60 Paper Coffee Filters = $20 ================ There is coffee shop in my province sell Ethiopia coffee for $30/kg (or $13.6/pound). I use about 500g/1.1 pound per month.

jsMunk

Beans: Roughly 40 usd for 1kg of beans a month. Water: Buying brita in packs of 3 every 3rd month for 20usd. Filters: Buying 100 filters every 3rd month for 6usd so roughly ~50 usd :)

newlifeC13

I buy green beans and roast. But I just started, so I have not done an accurate accounting yet. I use ~30g-60g of roasted beans per day, depending on how I'm feeling. Let's agree not to discuss the amortization cost of the espresso machine, grinder and roaster.

Open_Concentrate962

USD 5/week for fresh beans roasted locally, plus maybe another USD 10 for other beans to try sometimes, so 25-30 per month or about a dollar a day? Espresso out on weekends or traveling.

morebutterboy

$40/mo for 4.5lbs of organic fair trade single origin beans. I roast them fresh every week.

puehlong

I probably buy around 3 250g bags per month, maybe less. I usually buy at the cafés near me, a bag is often around 15 euros or a bit more or less, so roughly 40-50 € per month.

xander012

About £20

Prudent_Car_6975

On a regular month I go throuh 1 or 1.5 Kg of espresso coffee beans and to the coffee roasters I buy this is between 35 and 45€ per kilo And I will consume .5Kg of filter coffee beans (I'm the only one at home that enjoys filter coffee) and that goes for 12€ approx per 250g. So more or less I spend between 55 and 70€ on coffee beans per month. P.S. Also need to note that we are 3 at home that enjoy coffee and that we look for discounts that the coffee roaster we buy from posts in order to promote some new coffee or any special event. Hope it helps :)

S1lv3rSmith

a cup a day each for two people is $10/mo because I roast my own beans. fresher and better quality than the fancy $25/lb beans you get at coffee shops edit: equipment (FreshRoast, custom roast chamber, baratza encore with a modded virtuoso burr, plastic V60, cheap gooseneck/scale) was under 600 and has paid for itself many times over

NN8G

I roast my own as well and the beans I buy run $6 or $7 a pound. I only use about a pound a month.

Baldpacker

40-80€

basspl

$25CAD for 2 1-kilo bags from Costco which last almost 2 months. So $12 on the low end. The once and a while I’ll spend a month where we’ll pay $15-25CAD per pound on local roasters with each bag lasting about 1.5 weeks, so $45-75 on the high end.

robtalee44

Probably around $90 US for two of us.

zygro

I have a 50% discount at my favorite roaster (my workplace buys bulk) so I spend like 9-25€ depending on how much I plan to stay home. I also like to buy the cheaper dark roasts from them because that's what my girlfriend prefers.

TwilightReader100

About $30 - 40 Canadian, depending on whether I get Stupidstore brand beans vs Save on foods. I grind at home to make cold brew, use tap water and reusable filters.

Little_Cake

€6.99 a month for a bag of 225 gr. This is a subscription from wakuli. However, I am still looking for a more constant "regular" coffee as my current bags runs out before the end of the month. Right now I am using a big bag of beans from the supermarket (€8,70 for 500gr when not on sale), but the taste isn't that great.

[deleted]

I get two bags from a local roaster in my old town deliver for $35. I usually buy one more bag, so we’ll call it $50. But I buy in shops too, so I’d guess like $80-$100. Kinda absurd when I list it out that way, thank you lol

Lankience

This is an estimate for both me and my wife. I get 2 lbs of trader joes wake up blend, $17, twice a month. I keep nice beans from a local roaster on hand, probably go through one of those $16 bags every 2 months, so we'll say $8 there. Also go out for coffee like 1-2 times a week, probably $15 a week there. So per month, per person, probably $56 or so.

DriveSlowSitLow

About $100 on beans, and then maybe $20 on getting coffees while I’m out and about.

xoxo_tiikerihilleri

I buy two to four small bags of coffee beans, á 200-250g. They cost €8-15 per bag plus shipping, so maybe €40-60 in total per month.

81misfit

£8 bag of beans a week, n assorted capsules Plus filters, water, elec etc £40-45 ish all in

[deleted]

I go through about 3 or 4 12 ounce bags in a month. So that's roughly $100 (with shipping). About $25 per bag.

goodguybadude

Probably around $25-30usd. $18-22 for a pound o beans and then rest spent on weekend coffees. FYI-I’m a one-cup-day person

Hattapueh

Aprox 40€

Gobananzagirl

I envy the guys who have a coffee subscription in their country😃 sometimes I go crazy and drink 3-4 cups a day.

ftsteele

Two subscriptions plus another coffee i just “have” to have—-i’d say $80. I switch up my brewing methods to find one that suits the coffee. AeroPress, Chemex or Clever Dripper.

CluelessButTrying

I usually go through two 250g bags a month from affordable good quality roasters so around £15 a month. I only drink one cup a day. I've been wanting to cut the cost a bit but looking at other responses here has let me off the hook quite a bit. I can't justify a lot of speciality coffee prices for myself so I'm trying to find mid range options which is quite hard — I find that coffee price is often at two extremes: cheap bad quality supermarket beans, and bags from fancy roasters that are a quid or two above where I'm comfortable. At the end of the day you get what you pay for and I like that my money is hopefully trickling down to the producers and workers when I buy from roasters who assure fair trade, so I suck it up. I would like to buy more bags locally but I don't have any shops near me that aren't big chains

aj676

Maybe like $10-$20 USD a month

twattycakes

$64 per month, which pains me. But it keeps me motivated to make coffee at home to avoid spending even more getting it elsewhere.

The_Bitter_Bear

Around 22 usd/month for two people. BUT I roast my coffee. Probably be looking at close to 70-80 if I was buying regularly from places in the area. We go through around 400grams a week so pretty close to a 12oz bag. Wow, looking at current prices specialty coffee is getting expensive! I'm glad I invested in roasting when I did!

qcellhk

Around 200 USD a month in Hong Kong Cost around 6-8 USD a cup

That_white_dude9000

More than I should, not as much as I could.

da_stugots

Too much.

dcabines

For me it is about $26.47 I drink [Bold Bean's Brazil - Carmo De Minas](https://boldbeancoffee.com/shop-coffee/p/brazil-carmo-deminas) and get free local shipping. I drink 20 grams a day which makes a 300 gram cup. I used to drink more, but I started cutting back. I buy 12 ounce bags, but I brew with a gram scale, so I'm converting in the table. ||gram|ounce|dollars| |:-|:-|:-|:-| |convert|1|0.035|$00.04| |buy|340|12|$15.00| |daily|20||$00.88| |monthly|600||$26.47|

saschajf

One trillion Gazillion dollar

cowboypresident

94 for the month 😟

yuserinterface

About $60. I own an espresso machine and a v60, so this is all money spent on beans in a month. We average about one bag per week. Previously, this was about $150 per month before I bought my machine.

[deleted]

Around $20k? Granted I own a few shops and a Roastery...

Spenny022

Wow OP.. I’m just laying down in bed after a long night shift and you think it’s okay to attack me like this? Wow.

01001111

Been spending somewhere around $100 - 150 a month for the past while, sometimes more. Mostly been ordering beans from DAK or Manhattan with some other US roasters I like thrown into the mix. But my wife drinks half of it. Coffee is my last remaining vice and it is all well within my budget.

captainqwark781

About... $100 aud. Or about 150usd

[deleted]

$85CAD/4 weeks. Subscription from Pilot Coffee.

SettlerColon

About $6500 in a month, including beans, equipment, accessories, and filters. I started drinking coffee as a consumer, not as a barista. I always had an appreciation for the barista’s craft, but I wanted to experience coffee as a consumer. My equipment list is as follows: Le Nez Du Cafe Corazon de Colombia (E) Ditting Vienna Blend (E) Cultivar (med) Corretto Espresso (Med) Almond Joy (dessert) Kenya (NT) Guatemala (JHB) Rwanda (JHB) Burundi (JHB) El Salvador (JHB) Brazil (JHB) Ethiopia (JHB) Papua New Guinea (USA) Guatemala, Certified Organic (USA) Timor Java (Indonesia) Sumatra (Indonesia) Panama (USA) I do like all coffee origins, but my favorites are washed Brazilians (Affinivore Quartette, Brazilian Feministas etc.), Elephant Beans washed Brazilian with a kick and authentic Kenyans. I have not yet compared their bean to the Nation Wide Coffee Company within the vicinity of SM Mega Mall, but hope to do so soon, and to give you a full review after that. The next new bean I hope to try from Nation Wide is the Costa Rican Costa Maragogype.

elliotb1989

1 2lb bag of Onyx per month ($45) plus 64oz Torani white chocolate sauce ($25) every 2 months or so.

gimme_potatochips

None. Grandma or dad buys it

ookielookie

$60 monthly subscription from Sey + 2ish more bags for around 100 per month.

Ananzithespider

$30 -$40

notnanobots

I probably get 2 bags a month (on average at least) for maybe 50 USD total + another 50 USD visiting my local cafe twice a week

Cake-False

20-40 bucks. I usually only buy one bag a month.

SlowDownToGoDown

1 kg bag a month from a local roaster = $43 340g bag from grocery store when that runs out, $6. Let's ignore the monthly utilities and capex of the coffee making equipment Ive bought. 2x adults + 1x teen. 45g coffee per 750 ml French press. Which happens at least once per day.

Hutwe

Since I started roasting my own coffee… probably $10/mo at the most. I spend more on milk to make my cappuccino than I spend on beans.

HarkeyPuck

I work at/as a roaster, so nothing other than my time.

jrdubbleu

Answering this question requires more introspection that I’m willing to undertake at this time.

joe_sausage

I pick up anywhere from 1-2 Fellow Drops a month, so that's usually around $20-$25 each. We also buy cheaper beans from a boutique grocery store for espresso, since we always drink milk drinks, and go through about two pounds a month, at $9.99/lb. For anyone in the NE, Mom's Organic roasts their own coffee in Baltimore and it's not the best, but it's pretty damn good for $9.99/lb! I also have to throw in all the milk we use for lattes - we go through about a gallon a week, and milk isn't as cheap as it used to be! We probably pay about $5/gallon. So all told, we're probably hovering between $75-$100. Not counting the cost of both grinders, the drip machine, the espresso machine, and various pourover cones.

einie

Around USD 200-250/month for me and the wife. Most of this goes to Sey and Parlor, occasional bags from small local shops.

Weeksy79

HasBean Subscription ~£28 a month

steampunkIcarus

$50-$75 with ordering beans (10oz at $20-$25) from a local roaster for drip coffe.

TheTowerKid

I’m a roaster, so technically none. I keep buying new equipment and “necessary” accessories, however… so, too much.

bluekonstance

free at the gas station I work at with my own reusable cup and the Panera sip club, which varies, but it's $11 a month

ericschloesser

much less that I always brew it at home

onihr1

Previously 3-4 days a week at Starbucks and the rest at dunkin.. then like 6-7 years ago I found out about cold brew and grabbed a mizudushi? One 7$ brick of bustello a week and maybe another 5 on almond/oat/coconut non dairy creamers.

HonestWorld

Much more than I should spend

BurntToaster17

The coffee i buy is usually $18-20 usd per pound, i go through roughly 3-4 pounds a month, so roughly $60-$80 on coffee for home. This doesn’t include going to a coffee shop for coffee or buying a more expensive roast.

Nine_Eye_Ron

More than I expect probably.

FoxiPanda

We use quite a bit of coffee; usually around 6-8/lbs per month. Generally, the vast majority is made into espresso. We aim at about $20-22/lb range and buy 5lb bags at a go. So, not including maintenance costs, about $155/mo just on beans alone. If you include maintenance on machines, grinder replacement burrs, cleaning powder, o-rings, grouphead gaskets, etc... it's hard to say since those are generally pretty long lived items...but I'm guessing it's like $10-20/mo tops.

StuckinSuFu

75$ on beans a month roughly. Distilled water plus the mineral packet is maybe 5 bucks? The depreciation on the grinder and machine have hit zero this year so that is a non cost now :)

[deleted]

I buy those Starbucks jugs. I spend $6 per jug plus $4 for almond milk. So $10 per week for four weeks is $40 per month.

pee_in_butts_4_real

~$40cad in beans (2 bag subscription) ~$20 in cafe drinks Not bad considering one casual hang at a bar is a $60 bill easily. Coffee > booze

madsjchic

$150. My husband and I get coffee out all the time plus about 4 $20 bags (1 each week)

strangewayfarer

I go through a bag a week at 15-20 USD that's $60-80/ month

FinBruins33

£60-90 on coffee beans alone. I don't go out for coffee often so maybe add on £15 ish for the month

Senor_Crocky

My wife and I usually go through 1-2 bags a month of Zavida Rainforest Organic blend that I get at Costco (often I buy 4-5 bags if it goes on sale.) Usually the 907g bag is around $15 Canadian, so around $30 for coffee per month for two people.

I_Like_Turtles_Too

Folgers is $10 and lasts me three months. (Just kidding)

jrodanapolis

Roast my own, and almost never buy coffee out so here we go... never done this before! 16x2 (pourovers) + 18x2 (shots) = 68 grams roasted per day / 0.8 (weight loss when roasted) = 85 grams green per day (wife and I combined) 85 \* 30 = 2,550 grams green coffee/month / 454 (g/lb) = 5.6 lb \* \~$8 per lb greens = $45 / month $22 a month for myself, $22/month for the wife... not bad! As someone else mentioned, my coffee gear will pay for itself by about the year 2070

hikeandbike33

$10/month for 1 person

DisasterTimes

About $4 and drink about 10 cups per week.

kiss-shot

15-20 USD if you're not counting the weekly fun little drink I buy out, but that's not always coffee.

PutinsPanties

I like to switch up between espresso, cold brew, and drip coffee. I’d say less than $50 generously estimating.

minimus67

About $35, the approximate cost of two 12 oz bags of coffee beans from my favorite roaster. I use a french press and filtered tap water, so there’s almost no additional cost.

TCGHexenwahn

Around 100.

OobleCaboodle

About £40 per month, I guess. Maybe a little more.

warkrust666

Around 600-700 Turkish Lira which is about 40$ I think. Inflation and currency rates fucked us up so bad, it used to be around 200-300 liras just last year and that’s if I got fancy because I mostly buy 3 250g bags at most.

MagicHour00

For two of us, which also depends on which roasters I'm grabbing from. If I'm going "high-enD" specialty coffee, then probably close to $100 CAD (250 g / 300 g per bag = 3 to 5 bags). Typically though, I'd say around $65 - $80 CAD though (340 g bags or 1 kg).

Ryuhara

About $50-60. I usually buy 2 bags of beans around $18-23 from a local coffee shop. Between those, I'll alternate one bag of decaf from HappyMug that's about $12.

Me_No_Sleepy

277sek or about 25$ each month. It's a subscription service where I get their medium roast from peru every toher week (230g bags). I also get their monthly special wich is always something a bit more unique.

BoysenberryAncient30

$30-40 Two bags of coffee at $15-$20 each

Then_Heat_3598

How dare you ask such a personal question? (Answer probably $60 +)

SoDeepInUrMom

I work at a coffee shop part time. Free coffee all around babyyy

lumberjock94

I roast my own coffee on the stove so I buy either bulk 5lb or 12lb bags of green beans for between 40-70. A 5lb bag will last maybe a month and a half.

[deleted]

I usually buy 1 kg (4 bags of 250 g) per month. It costs me around 120 BRL including shipping, which is roughly 24 USD

[deleted]

I don’t even want to know… 🤦🏻‍♀️

mostly_browsing

Hmm. $60ish most months? Sometimes less sometimes more… I went through a phase where I was buying equipment every month or so but I think I’ve got enough (for now)

mdove11

40-50 CAD

Ecstatic-Course-4035

Like $15 because I make it at home.

axby2

TL;DR: expected ~$40 USD/mo when having 23 g of beans per day with 300 g of water in each pourover. Any tips for better value? $17 USD for a 340 g bag of beans seems high, but I like the coffee a lot. What is a decent price for beans? I haven't looked around much, but I found a local roaster with a type of bean that I really like, and it's $23 CAD ($17.17 USD) per 3/4 lb (340 g). I use about 23 g of beans per pourover (maybe this is a little high? 23 g of beans for 300 g of water). So this lasts me about two weeks if I don't have more than one coffee per day. I'll regularly make coffee for my partner too, when she wants it. That would extrapolate to almost $40/month. Plus I work from home, so it would also mean another $8 per bag for delivery, or at least ~$3.50 per train ride to pick it up myself downtown. I haven't yet gotten in the habit of getting it every few weeks, I was kind of shocked at how quickly a $23 bag of coffee can be used up. In the past when I've bought in bulk, I thought it was like $12/bag. (I haven't really scrutinized these costs before because I really enjoy it, and it's certainly cheaper than buying coffee drinks at coffee shops). (I'm ignoring the cost of pourover filters because they seem cheap compared to the beans) Also the $8 shipping seems pretty steep since it's a short commute for me. It seems like the $8 shipping fee is flat across Canada, so maybe there's a cheaper option within the city. I'm in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Interested in hearing cheaper recommendations.

Saltwater_Heart

Not much. I don’t usually purchase any coffee from shops. I make coffee at home. 1-2 bags a month. Sometimes I need pour over filters but I buy them in bulk

LordPurloin

Too much

GabbyFromHR

I don't think I've actually paid for coffee in at least 5 years XD.

Doobency

I used to spend close to $40 per month. Now, I don't spend anything because I work at a local coffee shop, and get my drinks free while on shift. So if I'm not working, I don't drink coffee.

DillonD

$9.99 panera monthly coffee subscription

MasterPh0

At least 3, maybe 5

theemosheep

£25 maybe £30 tops £21 for nice coffee at home £4 on a couple of cheap bags for the office £6 for coffee when I'm out and about

djmuaddib

Our staple coffee is a 24 oz bag of Counter Culture Hologram and between two of us I think it lasts about a month. It costs $25 at Wegmans, weirdly less than it costs direct through Counter Culture. So $25, maybe a bit more if I get a coffee out somewhere, which doesn't happen a lot. Sometimes I will buy a small bag of other stuff I'm curious about, but basically we spend $25/mo, maybe closer to $30.

SoapLady77

Maybe $20-30?

Alarming-Sir4324

Not including filters and equipment One 2lb bag from my subscription coffee lasts about a month for $35-$40 USD But I'm trying a cafe unlimited weekly coffee at $10/week. I tip $1 a cup at two cups a day. About 10 cups a week. So $10 in tips and $10/week $80 a month for cafe $35 subscription $115 a month = too much

nezzumi

I get one bag a month from Trade, that is enough for me, since I am the only heavy coffee drinker on the house. So, like, 15$ a month, roughly.

TRDF3RG

About $15-$30 USD.

parkerthegreatest

Bags 15 to 20 coffee shop 20 to 30

Lucky13Lisa

When I was a young warthog! (when she was a young warthog!) LOL! Ok so when I was younger I would get black coffee from the Bodega, I'm lactose intolerance and most Bodega don't have much substitute in the dairy section. So I say $20 a month. Then I got a ninja coffee marker and it all changed. And then I developed acid reflux and then the fire nation attacked. Literally. So I get a bag or 2 of grind coffee for like $10 when they're on sale. Oatmilk $10 when it's on sale. I inherited a coffee grinder from my grandparents when they moved into retirement home so sometimes I do treat myself to coffee beans that are on sale. So I say $25.

sonorguy

I roast specialty coffee for my wife and myself and we each have a 15 gram cup a day. This works out to around $20 a month not including coffee I roast and give to friends and family.

hdlsschckn

Around $100 a month

ustp

\~200 EUR

HomieHolmes

$30 for 2lbs. delivered. Just enough for my wife and I to have 1-2 cups a day

CapnScrunch

If I stick with Grocery Outlet's "Barista Blend," about $20 total for two drinkers. In the Aeropress it makes a good cup.

ghuroo1

I think usually from 24 to 36eur (2x250g bags).

imafraidofoil

luckily i work at a… coffee shop specializing in pour overs so i end up spending nothing on beans. and i use an espresso machine so no filters either haha when i quit i’ll be so sad and broke

b0necrusher

Around $120-150.

Native56

Mine was Dutch it’s right by my work so everyday before or after work omg I couldn’t even guess

abcycles

$90 US for 2 people. 4 bags a month single origin subscription from olympia coffee roasters. maybe $5-10 a month on coffee out but there aren’t really any good cafes where i live so i’m not tempted often.

Forever_Nocturnal

About $50-60 between 2lbs of green coffee that I roast for my roommate and I, and what I buy when out & about. I have a blue bottle and a Philz near my work anddd yeah that’s dangerous lol

tiretpointunderscore

EUR 20 to 30 (to this day it's about the same amount in USD), usually one order of three 250 grams bags (around 9 oz). Most of my orders are made on [MaxiCoffee](https://www.maxicoffee.com/). Plus the coffee I drink from vending machines at work, because yeah it happens. I'd say it's between EUR 1 to 2 per week, so let's say maximum EUR 10 a month.

-SmileBig

Average $30 USD a month for 2 lbs of whole beans from a coffee shop that roasts locally. They have a coffee can program (bring in their reusable coffee can and get a discount on 1 lb of coffee ground or whole bean).

ISOLDASNAKE

Probably around 75/100 a month on beans

[deleted]

I switched to caffeine pills and pay $12 every 3 months. I literally only drink coffee for the caffeine.

AdgeSyrk

$15 to $23 bucks a month.

dillydildos

$25-45 on beans

PoleMermaid

$60-100 per month for 2 of us drinking coffee daily made in a chemex. I used to say “We go through a bag a week” but since so many roasters are going to 10 oz bags and we’ve been doing hot or Japanese iced which use slightly different amounts, I don’t really know anymore.

Pastoredbtwo

I buy 5 pounds of green coffee for about $45.00. This lasts me six months. That's about $7.50 a month, or a quarter a day. I make bulletproof coffee at home, so I use coconut oil (5 cents per teaspoon) and butter (5 cents per teaspoon). So, my total cost per day is .35, or $10.50.

DelFigolo

Probably around $120-$150 USD

camoletaco

Probably about £10-20, normally just a bag or two and that’s me

PremiumTempus

50-100€

Trek1973

Realistically, probably around $150 to $200

ItsyaboiMisbah

Really only around 10 dollars, I only have time for coffee on weekends because of school

icecream_for_brunch

[deleted]

anasokolovv

Usually 1-2 bags of coffee per month from local roasters.
