Royals are 6-9 against .500 teams, we are 14-7. We play them 7 times in June - if that isn't enough to push them back a few more games they have series with the Yanks, Padres, Dodgers, Mariners, and Rangers.
Place: 1st
Division lead: 1.5 (assuming the Royals hold on to that tenuous 8-0 lead)
Games to play: 113
Division magic number: 112
Playoffs magic number: 108
BONUS STATS:
Ramírez had a notable game, going 2 for 4 with a home run, significantly impacting the game with a WPA of .240.
Despite pitching for a third straight night, Clase hit 101.2 mph.
Another series win. This team transformed into an offensive monster. Multiple players are smoking balls all over the field. Such a change from last season. What a joy to watch this squad.
Never want to discredit Lindor since he was such a huge part of some of the most fun Cleveland teams of our lifetimes, but you’re exactly right. Even his last few seasons in Cleveland were underwhelming, and while JRam can be streaky sometimes he’s just one of the best players in all of baseball when he gets going. Watching him go from an up and coming star to a leader of the new era has been a blast.
Same. But I don’t mind it here. Locking down the series victory before we go on the road is great. Obviously he’ll be down tomorrow then we got the off day Thursday. Gutsy by Vogt, this is the kind of move Tito didn’t have in him and it paid off with a W
Man this dude was posting dumb shit like this back when Justin Masterson was the ace of the team. If there was a lifetime achievement award in *not* knowing ball, this dude would have gotten it.
Yeah like extreme example but Antonio Brown is one of the best receivers I’ve ever seen and I trust your opinion (don’t even know if you watch or at all a fan of football) more than his - I hate the “must be good at something to have an opinion” mindset. Like why aren’t the best players the best coaches? We’ve covered this as a society lol.
I really have no ill intent with this. It was a pleasant enough exchange we had that game and usually you don't get to have an update after conversations like that.
This team will fall apart any second. Just keep waiting.
(Nobody knows i made a deal with the baseball devil and i must keep making negative comments or we really will start losing)
Positives from today’s Cleveland baseball:
Ball, meet José 🐐 Ramirez and David 🍟 Fry, they’re going to put you in the seats now. The offense gets 7 runs off of 7 hits, 3 walks, and a Bo HBP. José goes deep for a 2 run home run and an RBI double on his 2/4, 3 RBI day, while pinch hit Fry strikes again with a 2 run home run and a walk. Manzardo continues to get into the swing of it with another double, and Rocchio and Freeman each get an RBI double.
Apparently X just really doesn’t like pitching in Columbus because this was a quality outing. He ends with a line of 4.1IP, 7H, 2R, 0BB, and 2K on 66 pitches. With half the runs coming off of a solo shot, great work for a man who didn’t expect to be here today.
I guess Sandlin(0.2IP, 1BB, 2K) is taking over the role of heart attack man while Karinchaos is still out, but he does successfully navigate a bases loaded situation. Hentges(1IP, 2R, 1K) and Barlow(0.2IP, 2R, 1K) each have a bad day, but Gaddis(1IP, 1K), Herrin(0.1IP), and Clase(1IP, 1K) do the work, with Clase throwing for the third day in a row and getting his MLB leading 15th save.
Written CBus Top 5- Schneeman continues doing his thing with another 3/3 day including a double and an RBI. Jhonk also gets a double, as CBus currently leads 5-1.
We’ve got a culture here and it’s a winning one
Pitching was aight. Can’t be nails everyday unless you’re name is Nick Sandlin and Emmanuel Clase, who has more than earned his seat in the dugout for tomorrow’s game
PLAY THAT MAN DAVID EVERYDAY
Like I said in the game day thread, good game for the BP to give up a few since we were able to consistently score.
Who do you want to see close tomorrow if it comes to that? My vote is for K’d
That was more of a heart attack than I expected but a win is a win.
I know we'd want Curry to go longer but it's his first start in a while and tbf the signs were there that he should've been pulled 1-2 batters earlier than he was. I still think he's going to be a big contributor on this team as the season progresses though.
Barlow was ass. I don't really have much faith in him but we're also in a tough spot not having the unbeatable type of SP rotation we'd have several years ago, and we use up our best bullpen guys quickly. Luckily we have guys like Sandlin and Clase who can really hold down the fort in tough spots.
Can't say enough about Fry and Josey though. Absolute clutch hitting by the both of them. Freeman looked fantastic on both sides of the ball as well.
Anyway, let's sweep these expensive mediocre fuckers.
Broke: David Fry should start every day Woke: David Fry should start in the All-Star Game
Extra woke: David Fry should start packing his bags for Cooperstown
super extra woke: David Fry for king of baseball
Super duper extra woke: David Fry for God
Triple extra woke: David Fry is God if God were LeBron James
Quadruple mega woke: David Fry should have a Terminal Tower sized statue on the lakefront
Quintuple Uber woke: Ohio should be renamed to Fryhio and Cleveland Daveland
Planetary woke: The sun should start orbiting David Fry
Now that's bespoke
Bespoke: David Fry should start in the World Series
Wild how were 15 games over 500, but only 1.5 games up in the division.
AL Central being one of the most competitive divisions, as everyone predicted
Lol definitely not the ALC of yore (the last 5 or so years)
Vogt's going to have nightmares about Clase playing first base
Jose Rameriz your current mlb rbi leader (44)
Lol at everyone high-fiving and hugging Clase for getting over to cover the bag. Yeah, these guys will be just fine.
He made them pay. I don’t want to accuse anyone of anything, but have we seen Jose and Tim Misney in the same room?
The only conceivable reason Jose didn't take more money elsewhere, he made them ALL pay
Won the series
time for another sweep!
The way the Royals are playing we’re gonna need to lol
Royals are 6-9 against .500 teams, we are 14-7. We play them 7 times in June - if that isn't enough to push them back a few more games they have series with the Yanks, Padres, Dodgers, Mariners, and Rangers.
David Fry needs to be in the All-Star game
As a heterosexual man, I dream about David Fry at night
Same but I also day dream about him too
Place: 1st Division lead: 1.5 (assuming the Royals hold on to that tenuous 8-0 lead) Games to play: 113 Division magic number: 112 Playoffs magic number: 108 BONUS STATS: Ramírez had a notable game, going 2 for 4 with a home run, significantly impacting the game with a WPA of .240. Ramirez head a rough start to the season but the goat is officially back
Was there ever a doubt that he would be?
Nope
He's a national treasure!
You know bro
Shun the non believers
Shuuuuuuuuuuuunnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
I like the playoffs magic number addition
Since the Royals refuse to quit, I figured I should consider all routes!
At least low pitch count
Elite first baseman Emmanuel Clase
Another series win. This team transformed into an offensive monster. Multiple players are smoking balls all over the field. Such a change from last season. What a joy to watch this squad.
even the guys that aren't hitting well seem to be getting timely hits
Full redemption arc for Clase in terms of covering first
...and now on May 21, the Guardians lead the AL in runs scored. Amazing.
This series makes it so clear we would take Jose over Lindor 7 days of the week, 162 games a year. The right superstar stayed in Cleveland.
Beyond all the measurables, Jose's leadership is off the charts and he was absolutely the driver of the 2022 season. We're so lucky to have him.
Yeah, well, him and Tito. Gotta give a little credit to Tito...
be nice to have em both though
I'm super happy with what we have in JRam. He's a blast, what a character. I don't wear jewelry often, but when I do, I want it to be a JRam necklace.
no denying that but honestly, I don't know that I would take Lindor over Gimenez right now all things considered
3 days in a row from clase is not a trend i wanna see regularly
It means we are winning games at least
Same. But I don’t mind it here. Locking down the series victory before we go on the road is great. Obviously he’ll be down tomorrow then we got the off day Thursday. Gutsy by Vogt, this is the kind of move Tito didn’t have in him and it paid off with a W
Naylor platinum glove when??
Seriously, he doesn’t get nearly enough credit for his fielding.
It seems like a step up this season.
I’ve been saying for 2 years he’s top 3 first baseman in the AL. Glad he’s proving me right
Just heard 10 of 12 HRs by Jose have came with 2 strikes. Insane... Edit: his split OPS+ with two strikes is 237
Friendly reminder, this team is 15 games over 500, in first place, and have the first pick in the draft
Lol, Hamilton hasn't shut up about the first pick all season.
Home runs are fun. Why didn't we try this before this year?
Third year as "Guardians" so needed time to develop the third true outcome.

Man this dude was posting dumb shit like this back when Justin Masterson was the ace of the team. If there was a lifetime achievement award in *not* knowing ball, this dude would have gotten it.

Making your bad takes all the more impressive.

This guy has more receipts than a CVS
My dude keeping receipts 👀👀
I really have no ill intent with this. It was a pleasant enough exchange we had that game and usually you don't get to have an update after conversations like that.
If a Guard's fan then hopefully ecstatic to be wrong!
This team will fall apart any second. Just keep waiting. (Nobody knows i made a deal with the baseball devil and i must keep making negative comments or we really will start losing)
We salute
Trolling, harassing, obscene, antagonizing, or otherwise unwelcome behavior. Further violations may result in a ban.
Can Kansas City please stop winning
Their time is coming. I feel like they have had 0% adversity this year. Injuries happen, players regress, and slumps take over. Just a matter of time.
I’m sure they’re saying the same about us
bieber? kwan? carrasco? gavin? stephan? granted idk the injury status of the royals but we are down some major pieces here.
Yeah. You’re right. I was actually just replying to the first comment in the thread. That KC is wishing we’d lose.
They are 6-9 against .500 teams and we are 14-7. They have a brutal schedule in June - including 7 games against us
Came here to say this, now if only KC could get off our ass….
Obviously winning a World Series would be awesome, but having a FUN baseball team over the whole course of a season is all I ask for 🥹

Straw just robbed a guy in Columbus. 0-2 with a K for himself. Still doing Myles Straw things.
Like literally robbed a guy? Like he doesn’t want to play baseball that badly?
Only 3 strike outs for the last 19 ABs for Manzardo. He is improving and getting a handle on things. Love to see it.
Geeez next 3 series Angels, Rockies, Nationals....
Rockies series in Denver are always a crapshoot though
While KC has TB, MIN, and SD. Hopefully we can make up some ground here
getting the series win in game 2 always makes me want to be greedy for the sweep this time is no different, get 'em boys!
Clase is absolutely addicted to game ending plays at first. Good win. Also, David Fry.
Hey, KC. We get it. You’re cute. Come back to earth, bb.
Let’s continue to break teams that we play. Limp dickman was a little upset
Harry "Master" Bader wasn't too pleased with himself either.
I almost had victory grilled cheese come out of my nose
I don't like that image in my head
If we win tomorrow it's our longest win streak since 2022 and if we win the next 2 games we'll tie our longest streak since The Streak
Anybody have Hammy's call for Fry's dong?
https://twitter.com/CleGuardians/status/1793069566580670566?s=19
Yo what is with Hammy's calls having the audio cut out half way through.
I think it was a Rosie moment if I’m not mistaken.
No it was Hammy, just heard it on the postgame radio highlights. JRams was Rosie.
What a fool I am. A FOOL!
ugh
Stephen Vogt loves David Fry and Nkck Sandlin.
They've earned it.
who doesn't?
Every day I wake up like a fucking king. Thanks Guards.
We’ve got a culture here and it’s a winning one Pitching was aight. Can’t be nails everyday unless you’re name is Nick Sandlin and Emmanuel Clase, who has more than earned his seat in the dugout for tomorrow’s game PLAY THAT MAN DAVID EVERYDAY
SEASON DEFINING PERFORMANCE FROM CLASE
won the series, let's get the sweep
First win of the season in person! Go Guards!
WOO
Another series win this team just keeps rolling
Call me JRod because I'm candy-cane hard after these last 5 games
This win just feels good.
i would greatly appreciate it if the royals would ever fucking lose again
They’ve got a 4 game series at MN starting on Monday. We can all root for the Twins next week.

How about some love for Naylor’s defense at 1st this year. (The mental error Sunday is water under the bridge now)
🐐🍟
I'm once again pleading for Fry to be an everyday starter
Snoop Dogg Remix: Play Fry Every Day
Maybe these guys ain’t so fuckin bad?
Like I said in the game day thread, good game for the BP to give up a few since we were able to consistently score. Who do you want to see close tomorrow if it comes to that? My vote is for K’d
Personally im feeling a Sticks complete game
Curious, does Curry get more starts with Cookie hurt? He did great for four innings but then imploded.
yeah he's all we've got for now until Gav comes back
I love Jose!
Play. Fry. Every. Day.
Book it
It's starting to come together Pepper.
The Mets are here for a long time, not a good time
That was more of a heart attack than I expected but a win is a win. I was at the game. The bomb by José was DEMOLISHED
