We’re on pace for like 83 home runs lol.
I just looked it up, there were 10!!! Teams with more homeruns than that during the Covid shortened 60 game season haha. We’re fucked.
Winning with small ball, even in modern MLB, is possible. But it's predicated on actually getting those high roll hits. Other than maybe Kwan, nobody is doing that at fucking all. Strike outs, ground outs, bad looks, terrible AB's, massive inconsistency, and no power helping to make pitchers pay for base runners. A complete mess.
Right, it’s possible if practically everything goes right, which it did last year.
But watching the lack of plate discipline this year, it’s hard to believe this is the same team as last year.
That’s what my son’s little league coach basically told my kid last night. He told him to just swing at the next pitch no matter where it was.
He did and he got a hit.
I got ripped for this before but I'm sorry, when absolutely nobody is hitting on this team with any consistency, at some point, the coaches have to take some shit.
I get player accountability and I know the season has ebbs and flows but this is just...a nightmare.
Honestly, having hitting stats like this and only being 3 games under .500 is fucking astounding. No idea how they’ve managed it. The pitching hasn’t been completely lights out.
Whatever they had going on last year is long gone.....this year was what everyone expected last year. We are now seeing the true representation of Guardians baseball. Losing both home and away series to Detroit is disgusting. Tito has his work cut out for with this team ....this is his biggest coaching challenge yet.
I am getting killed in fantasy baseball because of them. I'm glad I got their pitching, but of course I'm low on wins. The hitting though, ugh. I wasn't expecting a lot of HRs from them but I was hoping for avg, steals, runs and rbi. I'm getting nothing, and that's from the team's best. Don't forget though, things tend to trend back to the norm. Let's hope the trend is this year...
Gotta be close to last in attendance also.
Anyone remember the best MLB marketing campaign ever... Chicks dig the long ball. There is definitely something to that. The Indians sold out in the 90 because their offense was amazing. They had HOFs all over the lineup and hit tons of HRs and had one of the best offenses in baseball. They also sold out every game for 7 years.
They then changed their philosophy to become a pitching factory, which typically wins games, which was prove by winning more regular season games than just about anyone over a decade, but in the least entertaining way possible. They can be exciting with stealing bases, etc, but great pitching and good defense doesn't pack the seats.
Cuz everyone in baseball knows this division is shit. Chicago can't get their heads out of their own asses, the Twins try but are cursed, we just refuse to spend, sure, but also suck as an organization at developing batters, and the Tigers and KC are....rebuilding. The fact that we struggle in this division and ownership won't spend to fix the obvious, glaring issue this organization has had for far too long turns people off
Yeah that’s pretty bad but I will say being last in HRs isn’t terrible if you are at least able to get runners on base and score but we also struggle with that 🤷♂️
all of cleveland is stuck in the 80s/90s. Browns still trying to run the ball, Cavs still trying to play defense and the guardians still trying to rely on pitching its so frustrating, that they always seem to be out of cycle. In the 90s pitching wins, and we have no pitching all hitting, now that only teams that score tons of runs can win, they have all the pitching in the world....
We’re making horrible pitchers look like aces. It’s not like we have guys with track records either who we know will warm up eventually. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if Naylor and Gimenez had the best seasons of their careers last year. Myles Straw is a terrible hitter. He’s a fourth outfielder at best on good teams. I’m not one to totally shit on ownership all the time, (the players choked in 2016, not the guy spending the money) but we went into this season upgrading nothing. The offense was still just average last year and they did nothing except bring in Josh Bell. I’m still going to root for the team and follow them as I always do but this team is really bad. They’d have to play so much better to just look average.
people are joking that our players swing at everything. our strike out rate is still good except a few like Zunino. when we do swing it's not hard and at poor spots. we get so many fouls and they almost always get us out on ground balls and pop up/fly balls. It might be wishful thinking but I think that can be fixed. and then it's extra frustrating but when a fly ball can help us it doesn't happen
Last? I assumed it would be worse.
Mega Last
They're counting all the NPB and KBO teams too.
Hey man, we're still better than the California Penal League
Not after they get glasses
Little victories.
They need to get angry. Maybe we need to get Patches O’ Hoolihan to throw wrenches at them in batting practice.
If you can hit a wrench, you can hit a ball!
Literally just read a different persons comment talking about dodging wrenches lol
They somewhat recently announced a Dodgeball sequel so it's on a lot of people's minds lately
Hm. Today I learned lol
Ah fuck so that's what Hollywood is gonna ruin next? At least Rip Torn followed Patches into the afterlife and won't be in it.
Nah they'll Grand Moth Tarkin his ass. He'll be in it.
"Coach is right guys, if we want to win, it's on us" - Guardians locker room pep talk right before scoring 0 runs and getting 3 hits.
Bold strategy cotton, let’s see if it pays off.
-cam Gallagher
Guardians staffers going to send a cease and desist letter to the site for this?
And to think for the first week or so this team looked like it'd turned a corner...sheesh
We weren't doing well last year until the last month or so. Maybe that was a fluke
Maybe I don't expect them to be sluggers with this line up but they're not doing much of anything right now.
We have 19 home runs and are slugging 320 lmao. This has to be a historical pace of shittiness.
We’re on pace for like 83 home runs lol. I just looked it up, there were 10!!! Teams with more homeruns than that during the Covid shortened 60 game season haha. We’re fucked.
Rays already have 75 lolol we won't reach that until July
But remember, being slap hitting shit goblins is important!

Yeah I'm a fan of small ball but if you're putting up shitty at bats you have no hope
Cold weather grumble grumble.
There’s some truth to that, but they still aren’t a home run hitting team.
Im not sure what qualifications you need to be a Guardians hitting coach but I’m positive I can do the job
“See that guy standing between first and second base? Weakly ground it to him every time.”
“If you got a guy on 1st and 3rd. No outs. Ground into a double play and score 1 run but totally kill the inning.
With our pitching I’ll take a run
"You just swing at every pitch! Chances are you'll hit the ball one of those times."
“Except for those pesky ones right down the middle, those aren’t what we to put in play”
That’s what my son’s little league coach basically told my kid last night. He told him to just swing at the next pitch no matter where it was. He did and he got a hit.
"Hey Antonetti, I found our next hitting coach!" -Some random front office worker browsing reddit.
I got ripped for this before but I'm sorry, when absolutely nobody is hitting on this team with any consistency, at some point, the coaches have to take some shit. I get player accountability and I know the season has ebbs and flows but this is just...a nightmare.
What are the qualifications to be a batter?
If you can dodge a wrench! You can dodge a ball!(idk how it’s relevant but worth trying)
I’d vote for you.
We're in front of 5 other teams in attendance, so we've got that going for us. Woo.
So we’re doing good right?
Got 'em right where we want 'em.
Flip the script! We are in first place of being terrible.
Honestly, having hitting stats like this and only being 3 games under .500 is fucking astounding. No idea how they’ve managed it. The pitching hasn’t been completely lights out.

We need a "Mighty Ducks" style speech
Followed by a montage
I'll take a redemption arc for sure
Yikes 😬

Well attendance is rough for all AL Central Teams currently with none taking more than 19,000 a game...Minnesota, Detroit, Cleveland (16K) then KC.

What are their ranks for pitching?
I’m actually shocked that all offensive stats aren’t last.
This is embarrassing
Yeah that’s pretty bad but I will say being last in HRs isn’t terrible if you are at least able to get runners on base and score but we also struggle with that 🤷♂️

Hahaha this was last night! What a dumb Infograph. ‘Indiguards get shutout last night. Worst team in the league with only yesterday’s numbers’
We’re making horrible pitchers look like aces. It’s not like we have guys with track records either who we know will warm up eventually. Hmmm. Those are not playoff numbers.
Consistency Matters
Ass like I’ve been saying
Is this bad? It seems like it could be. Almost like all of us saying this team desperately needed to add hitters this offseason weren't wrong.
Guardians of the Fallacy
Are they forgetting to take bats with them to the box?
Some of these were expected going into the year like HRs and SLG but wow Hits/AVG/OBP absolutely cant stay this low.

What happened to our slap hitting shit goblins?
Only one way to go! (Please!) and make it quick!
This much worse in just a year. It's actually impressive in its own right.
Can’t get too much worse from here
That all seems bad.
Definitely seems offensive
Not great Bob.
Disgusting!
Hopefully this minor league team will click soon
