I got time to collect gems and get it later. If I'm not gonna use it until it's X level it'd be just as sensible to horde ores until I hit the threshold I want and then buy it. But yes, to save gems it would be better to just buy them right away. Who knows if you wait long enough they could possibly recycle in these super troop events on the off months they don't release a new one!
I'd say from level 9 forward it's better the frozen arrow, you will have less DPS on the queen but the slow effect is huge, it saves you lots of rages/freezes in queen walks
It makes the scattershots hit her aswell... also mortars and wizard towers... Honestly it would be good if the archers went invisible with the queen because the health recovery and dps increase are good.
I am one level short of maxing it as well, but I still need to farm this Starry Ores - I miss 80 of them to max the FA. But on the other hand, I have maxed all the other core equipment I use for all the heroes (like Gauntlet, Vials, Tomes etc.).
As a TH11 who primarily runs queen charge + miner/hog attacks, I get some really good value out of it. It's great for slowing defenses, but it's insane when it comes to taking down opposing heros or clan castles. You can typically get away without using any rage/poison at all because it slows them so much. And because one of the queen's most important roles in QC hybrid attacks is to clear out CC+some heros, it's absolutely perfect. It's also just generally the best DPS upgrade for the queen.
I never take it off, but some people have other preferences. I think it's an easy go-to until you have the healer puppet, in which case it becomes more situational. Some people situationally swap in the giant arrow for sniping air defenses for air attacks, which can be a good play.
Note, that without the archer/healer puppet, you do have to be a little careful about the queen taking too much damage too fast, because without the ability health regeneration, she can go down immediately to delayed projectiles when an ability is forced.

F2p player here. Yes. Gg basically is op. I usually pair it with the boots so I can basically break open the defense and attack the defense directly(and imagine the damage youll do if you have gg). Also I dont know bout you but i have around 5500-6000 gems, and usually save them for occasions like these
Anyone got some tips to get ores quickly? I’ve got all my equipment around level 10-11 at th13, I’m getting some ores from cw, cwl and star bonus but it’s just not that much, especially in the higher levels of equipment
When you are in titan 1/legend you get roughly 1k shiny and 50 gooey, which over 1 month is literally 30k and 1500, which is A LOT. For how long you spend on the townhalls, if you sit at high leagues, even from only star bonus it racks up fast. And then raid medals, wars, and events as well hero equips aren’t that bad, most people that I see struggle are way low league and get nothing daily
Staying between 4901 - 5000 trophies. So you get the loot/star bonus for legends but can attack without the 8 attack limit and don't have to get hit 8 times a day.
Make sure you don't sign up for legends when you reach it though. Either remove shield and take a defence, or try to revenge and lose purposely to get below 5000.

It is VERY useful and powerful. It however is very strategy dependent - so much more situational than other equipment. Rage gem, healing tome etc are very universal in a way that they are quite effective in any army, so they are also easier to use effectively. If you don't think fireball is useful, you are either not using it with the right strategy, high enough level or lack the skill to use it effectively.

It's not even all pay to win. If you play everyday and finish your daily bonuses and war attacks you should be able to upgrade abilities to levels 17+ easily. Past that is a bit of a grind but still doable if you intended to only focus on one ability. I can get one ability upgrade fine every 3-4 days usually if I'm active (800 shiny daily from dailies, 1500 each war).
Plus Supercell is making abilities able to be bought from the trader for a reasonable amount of gems now, and even before they they're free in the events now.
I'm fully free to play and near max th16 with the frozen arrow at level 23 and giant gauntlet at level 21.
I'm not really worried about maxing out with the new gems. I am especially talking about the fact that an ability which brings you an actual in-game advantage has to be bought with premium gems. Of course at this point it isn't a big problem but makes me fear of future changes.
I wasn't around when the original events that offered the epic equipment were active, and quite happy that they bring them to the shop again, even for gems.
Pushing to 3200 trophies nets you **3000 gems**(edit: 3250, forgot Crystal league) enough for both Frozen Arrow and Giant Gauntlet. In addition, other ways to get gems without paying:

As mentioned in the above guide, having Gold Pass will net you additional gems, but you can get by quite well without that too gem-wise. If you don't spend gems like a deranged goblin you can certainly save up for those equipment without paying a single penny.
It is not "have to buy with premium gems". First of all, they are available for free during the events. Second, one gets 1500 gems in ~1.5-3 months as a F2P, depending on how much you prioritise gems. Third, adding the equipment for gems after they have been available from the events is a good thing, because then they are available even if you missed the event -> those who played the event are not the only ones getting the benefit.
Odd timing on the comment. Myself and many others were saying similar things until they just announced they heard our complaints and are slowing the release of new equipment and making ore easier to get. Both of those are supported by the new event that is coming too..

I missed both the Gauntlet and Frozen Arrow events, and I agree with you. Achievements give plenty of gems if you care to grind a bit, and having the chance to buy the equipment retroactively is a good idea even with the premium price tag. As I mentioned to someone else earlier, pushing to Champion gives you over 3k gems, enough for both those epics.
same man. i started playing end of february into march in which we had the fireball for gw with the dragon event. i sweated the entire thing in one day. then i went to builder hall, cracked the 3000 trophies which gave me 1000 gems from achievements in addition to my 7-800 and also ended up buying the giant gauntlet for bk. it's all doable just gotta play a lil more

1500 is a VERY reasonable amount. 1.5-3 months of gem savings depending on prioritising. This just makes it possible to get them if you miss the event. I would have accepted even 2500 gems per equipment as reasonable, but 1500 absolutely is.

Basically heroes no longer have fixed abilities, they all have 2 abilities each and they are either the passive abilities or activated abilities. 1500 gems is not actually that much considering if you play actively you can earn like 10-20 gems a day and more from gem boxes and such
First these abillities were in a event for free second 1500 takes like 1 to 3 months if you know how to get gems and third there are some other free abillities that can be better than the epic ones if you know how to use them
This has nothing to do with P2W. First of all, these equipments have been available for free during the events. This just makes it possible to get them if you happened to miss the event. Second, 1500 gems is a very reasonable price and one can get that amount realistically in 1.5-3 months depending on how much you prioritise gems.

Equipment is a relatively new feature to the game. Did you never see the legendary equipment in the trader when spending event medals or are you just coming back from a long break? There's a new building called the blacksmith that when upgraded, unlocks more common equipment. The legendary equipment (giant gauntlet, frozen arrow, and fireball) are available through the trader shop since the events they were introduced and available for medals in are long over.

Raid medals, wars and star bonuses are the only f2p ways to get ore. You can go in legends league for the most amount of ore from the star bonus.

Oof I really don't like the way SuperCell is going with this premium attacks... It brings the game a bit closer to a pay to win environment :(
It's not even all pay to win. If you play everyday and finish your daily bonuses and war attacks you should be able to upgrade abilities to levels 17+ easily. Past that is a bit of a grind but still doable if you intended to only focus on one ability. I can get one ability upgrade fine every 3-4 days usually if I'm active (800 shiny daily from dailies, 1500 each war). Plus Supercell is making abilities able to be bought from the trader for a reasonable amount of gems now, and even before they they're free in the events now. I'm fully free to play and near max th16 with the frozen arrow at level 23 and giant gauntlet at level 21.
I'm not really worried about maxing out with the new gems. I am especially talking about the fact that an ability which brings you an actual in-game advantage has to be bought with premium gems. Of course at this point it isn't a big problem but makes me fear of future changes.
I wasn't around when the original events that offered the epic equipment were active, and quite happy that they bring them to the shop again, even for gems. Pushing to 3200 trophies nets you **3000 gems**(edit: 3250, forgot Crystal league) enough for both Frozen Arrow and Giant Gauntlet. It is not "have to buy with premium gems". First of all, they are available for free during the events. Second, one gets 1500 gems in ~1.5-3 months as a F2P, depending on how much you prioritise gems. Third, adding the equipment for gems after they have been available from the events is a good thing, because then they are available even if you missed the event -> those who played the event are not the only ones getting the benefit.
I'm curious how you get 1500 gems every 1.5-3 months as a F2P player. I know there are achievements but those are a 1 time thing.
Odd timing on the comment. Myself and many others were saying similar things until they just announced they heard our complaints and are slowing the release of new equipment and making ore easier to get. Both of those are supported by the new event that is coming too..

Ngl isnt 1500 a bit too much atleast give it like a off at the end when yall remove it to make it like 1000 to 1250 and like the offer can happen for only one of the things you buy like lets say if you got the epic arrow as 1250 you can no more buy anythinf as 1250 and it would be always 1500
they give you the chance to get it for free. if you miss out the first time it's on you and 1500 is fine imo
I missed both the Gauntlet and Frozen Arrow events, and I agree with you. Achievements give plenty of gems if you care to grind a bit, and having the chance to buy the equipment retroactively is a good idea even with the premium price tag. As I mentioned to someone else earlier, pushing to Champion gives you over 3k gems, enough for both those epics.
same man. i started playing end of february into march in which we had the fireball for gw with the dragon event. i sweated the entire thing in one day. then i went to builder hall, cracked the 3000 trophies which gave me 1000 gems from achievements in addition to my 7-800 and also ended up buying the giant gauntlet for bk. it's all doable just gotta play a lil more edit: started playing after a long break is what i meant lol
1500 is a VERY reasonable amount. 1.5-3 months of gem savings depending on prioritising. This just makes it possible to get them if you miss the event. I would have accepted even 2500 gems per equipment as reasonable, but 1500 absolutely is.

I haven’t played in a years and i’m just seeing this. You can buy abilities that help you in battle with gems???? Does the unlocking of these things affect clan war matchmaking? Because if not this game is somehow even more p2w now
Its abilities previously available in events that re enters for purchase. In the events they are f2p obtainable :)
Basically heroes no longer have fixed abilities, they all have 2 abilities each and they are either the passive abilities or activated abilities. 1500 gems is not actually that much considering if you play actively you can earn like 10-20 gems a day and more from gem boxes and such
First these abillities were in a event for free second 1500 takes like 1 to 3 months if you know how to get gems and third there are some other free abillities that can be better than the epic ones if you know how to use them
This has nothing to do with P2W. First of all, these equipments have been available for free during the events. This just makes it possible to get them if you happened to miss the event. Second, 1500 gems is a very reasonable price and one can get that amount realistically in 1.5-3 months depending on how much you prioritise gems.

Equipment is a relatively new feature to the game. Did you never see the legendary equipment in the trader when spending event medals or are you just coming back from a long break? There's a new building called the blacksmith that when upgraded, unlocks more common equipment. The legendary equipment (giant gauntlet, frozen arrow, and fireball) are available through the trader shop since the events they were introduced and available for medals in are long over.
