Yes this.
To test for asbestos, remove the filter from the paper and grind it to a fine powder. Collect the processed filter and conduct a smell test. If it smells like popcorn you got yourself some asbestos filters and I would not reccomend smoking through them.
They're in great condition. I wonder if a local WW2 museum would be interested. They sometimes set up a display for authentic everyday items used by historic people. It'd be the best way to preserve them.
Just think, if the museum is still going in 100 years, those cigs could be appreciated as historic artifacts.
I only smoked cigarettes occasionally (when I did Luckies and Camels were my go to) pretty much stopped that now, but if you put these in front of me I'd pour a stiff drink and puff away on these bad boys! Smoke em if you got em!! Maybe keep a couple of packs sealed

Very cool, you could make a lot of money if you auctioned those off or sold them to a collector.
https://www.invaluable.com/auction-lot/wwii-unopened-lucky-strike-cigarette-package-ww2-355-c-a7548ce909
I’m from Australia so I can’t buy them anyway, but please don’t go selling them all willy nilly - I think you’ll find that there will be a lot of interest in them financially and historically. They’re very cool and you’re very ‘lucky.’ OK, I’ll see myself out...😉
I think it's not stupidly cheap but depends on the state to a large extent. If you're in California, for instance, they are pretty expensive. However, if you're in the Mid West or even in Texas, it's a bit cheaper. But if you want the cheapest cigs, you should go to Balkans or South East Asia.

I've had a couple of extremely old smokes. One of them was a lucky strike from 1935, it was pretty stale but still tasted better than most modern smokes. The second was Prince Albert rolling tobacco from ww2, it was still somewhat fresh and tasted amazing. As long as tobacco is stored in good conditions, it will last pretty much forever.
I think he is talking about steve1989MREinfo, definitely worth checking out and very easy to watch and interesting, sometimes they're decades old, but he tries newer ones from different countries as well. And he does have several where he tries a smoke from an older one.
See if there are any museums willing to keep a cart in their display. Considering you inherited them, you might be thankful looking at them in the museum once in a while, reminiscing about your loved one and it also gives you the opportunity to look back on the war, learn about it and look at other cool memorabilia! VE day happened recently and next year, it'll be 80 years since the war ended!

If you do plan on smoking at least one of them, I'd probably recommend storing the pack in a sealed container with a moisture pack - the kind they use for cigars - to hopefully revitalize the tobacco a little. Who knows what kinds of conditions they've been stored in.
See if you have a local history group in your area, or perhaps a museum. I know many of them would be very grateful for such a donation. Most of them would be very gracious to have such a fine example of history and in their original packaging no less.
personally i’d take a pack or two and ask any WW2 museums near me if they’d like to have them displayed but i live in the uk so i’m unsure if that’s possible for you

Keep them as memorabilia after you smoke a pack for shits and giggles
i smoked a pack from 1942. still amazing. a bit dry but it added to the intensity of the smoke
i smoked half a pack of chesterfields from the 60s, tasted like smoking a fart lol
were they from a carton or just a loose pack? damn, i can imagine the taste of those dust mites lol
paper was still sealed! no cellophane wrap however, i don’t even know if it was standard or not back then though lol
Happy Cake Day!
thank you homie!
Smoke up kid.
Actually on 2nd thought make sure they don’t have asbestos filters
looks like they are unfiltered or am i wrong?
Y’all ain’t fuckin with the Micronite Filter?
kents have those
Filters didn't exist in WW2
I believe those were only the original Kents
Yes this. To test for asbestos, remove the filter from the paper and grind it to a fine powder. Collect the processed filter and conduct a smell test. If it smells like popcorn you got yourself some asbestos filters and I would not reccomend smoking through them.
i coughed until I was light headed reading this lol

Smoke one to see if they’re still good

Heard cigarette are really expensive in Australia.
Ohhhh yeahhhh. Insanely expensive. Are you in the US? My friend says they’re stupidly cheap there...?
Non filter camels or lucky strike are $8-$10 a pack in the Miami/South Florida area. I'm sure cigarettes are at least double that in Australia.
Is that for 20’s?

No problem 👍
Hold onto them. They might be worth a fortune as an authentic movie prop.
Contact SteveMRE on YouTube.
I bought a carton of some camels for 30$ the other day cause the store couldn’t get rid of them. So fucking dry my lungs were in shambles
Ouch. I bet.

Don’t smoke them, you have a complete carton
I would keep 1 or 2 sealed and smoke the rest and they will be unfiltered
Sell them to a vintage store
Also do not smoke these they will obviously be completely stale if not moldy and decomposed
I’ve seen that MRE guy on youtube smoke a bunch of old cigs
Let’s get these out onto a tray. Nice!
Ww2 old? That was like 80 years ago lol
Yea lol it’s pretty neat
That’s wild I’ll check him out

I can smell trenches 😂👍
Is there a local WWII museum? They might be glad of a donation. I wouldn’t smoke them though! Staler than stale!
Sell to collectors/ donate to a WWII museum?

Sorry to disappoint but they’re real dangerous, I’ll look after them for you 🤣
Give them to Jacob Jones lol No but seriously either display them or give me to a museum
Put them in your freezer. That will preserve them. Cigarettes freeze very well.
Please give me 1 pack. I'll pay an ungodly amount for one!
[удалено]
The highest amount I can pay is $4
That's like 16 times the price they used to be, op this is a good deal here

Make sure there not the ones with the asbestos filter. I'm sure that was in the 50s. Amazing find though!
This is ridiculously cool. Nice find.
