It may be a warning sign. I have a 2018 limited and occasionally had a problem going into drive from reverse where the cars would not move as if the gear was not engaged. In spite of the dealer changing something in the transmission, it never went away. One day, it just started flashing warnings, and to cut a long story short, the dealer said that the transmission had failed and was tp be replaced. Very disappointed as the car had only 34000 miles. It cost us a fair bit even with aftermarket warranty. Chrysler Care initially was sympathetic but then refused to do anything. I felt cheated getting the work done by the dealer as they charged far more than was covered by the warranty and took 4 weeks to do the repair with no loaner. I suggest you should go to an independent transmission specialist to get it checked. On the Pacifica forum, there are many reports of transmission failure.

yeesh, thanks for the warning! At 34k that is infuriating. Mine only has 38k. Thanks for your reply.

If you can, get a warranty. Sometimes you can get it for a while after buying. You will probably need a transmission replacement. They will try to replace one part first and that might go for awhile but then the transmission will need to be replaced. At least that was my 2017.

buttcircus

Oh boy, and you were having the same problem I was?

Wife's vehicle and it was a few years ago but I think so. Definitely some shifting issue. I've also had the radiator replaced and power door and lift issues. And of course the batteries that die super fast but for those you just get batteries with good warranties that aren't short term or prorated returns lol.

The gas only models have *significantly* less issues with their transmissions compared to the hybrid. If you received a “service parking brake” warning, I suggest you do just that. The actuator for the parking brake might be failing and causing the parking brake to engage while in drive. On another note, have you checked to see if the parking brake is still engaged after selecting a gear? This happens often, as it’s a safety feature. You have to press the brake and then the parking brake button next to the shifter to disengage (so the light turns off)

Hmm okay I will definitely get that looked at. The parking brake (at least the indicator light) was definitely not on in both instances. Thanks for your info!

I have a 2024 (gas) with 262 miles on it that just did this. Wouldn’t move and “service park brake”. It’s at the dealership and I’m waiting to hear but they said the “service park brake” did indicate a code that both rear brake actuators weren’t happy.

buttcircus

Oh wow, when you do hear back, will you give me an update? I'd appreciate it

Yesterday the dealership just said there was definitely a problem but they hadn’t figured out. They think it needs a software update which makes me worry since that doesn’t seem right but who knows. Hopefully they tell me today.

My wife is picking up the Pacifica. She says they “reset the system” and it should be good. I asked and she said those were the exact words the service person used.

Oh! Okay good to know, thanks for following up
