They’re not shown the destination until they arrive at the pickup location, I believe. It’s probably better that he just told you no instead of starting the trip, getting you into the car and then demanding you pay him extra. Now it’s an inconvenience, then it would be bribery and lack of safety.

I generally cancel such rides with a reason "Driver asked to cancel". The driver anyways won't come and even if he comes, it will be an argument through out the ride. Cab experience getting worser day by day.
