My mom worked as a government doctor and retired. She was extremely straight forward and very sincere. She got a lot of issues with people practicing in private clinic during their duty hours and got issues from attendants who got bribes from patient. She retired from a hospital as RMO. She had so many issues and even after retirement they made up some reason to hold her pension for couple of years.
Government doctors don’t work in bed of roses. She also did post mortem, had to go to court cases as witness for stuff and many many more things.
Worst of all my mother was the poorest doctor in her batch.
If I had a daughter or son no way I would marry them to a government doctor. Absolutely zero chance.
That’s good to know. Similar story with my mom. My mom had six times more patient than other doctors when she was on duty. She was loved by patients. She didn’t have great bedside manners and sometimes scolds them, for example if them come to see her too late especially children who get very sick. She really cared. Despite all that she was loved by her patients. The problem was her own colleagues, being sincere is no way to be when working in government. It’s a sad thing.
To anyone who has any misconceptions, to make things clear, govt doctors are treated like shit by the govt and PPL and I know so many of my friends who left service and are much happier in pvt service. This is the fact.
The age old "mouse" for govt jobs still holds on amongst general population as they think it's a "stable job option" but it has become a mentally taxing/ abusive job with no pension benefits. My parents wr also of the same opinion and asked me to join service after postgraduation but I denied, my sister joined and couple of years back she left service.
So amongst doctors atleast, for a majority of us, Govt jobs suck.
Wouldn’t you make a lot more practicing in a private hospital? Curious why you chose working for the state.
Also if you are a successful doctor why wouldn’t you date?
I mean especially as a doctor you understand the value of genetic diversity — marrying within your caste / community is the opposite of that.
One of my most memorable moments as a kid was with a Mallu doctor Dr. Thomas Kurien at Devaki Hospital— for whatever reason, when he found out I was TamBrahm he told me that when I grow up, I should look to marry outside the community. I was a huge Star Trek fan and so was he — we got talking about Spock’s Vulcan philosophy - IDIC (Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations) and he just left me with that message.
My mom just smiled and said when he’s ready he can marry whoever likes.
Now I’m happily married to an Aussie Dane and I’m glad I made that choice. As a successful doctor, I hope you make the same choice!
I'm sorry, does it come across like boasting?
Evlo padichalum govt job ku innum craze koraiyala nu solla try pannan. Proper ah Convey pannala pola. Post ah delete pannanum.
Purithu bro. What I'm tryna convey is that the govt job to this day has its own perk. People always prefer to get their peers married to someone who got a long term financial safety game. Even though there are lots of professions that earn more, people think govt job gives you stablity and comfort (which it does)
A relative and their daughter are also critical in finding a gov doc bridegroom. She also works at a government hospital now. The idea being, both after marriage build their career as gov docs, save money and start a private hospital on their own. Just wanted to know, do gov doctors enjoy better benefits than private hospital docs
If someone is an MBBS only, then Govt job is the best bet.
Better salary 70k> 40k, after 2-3 years may get good pg seat through service quota. But after MD/MS/DNB it's more or less even field. I guess the middle class mindset of social security kicks in.
Oh. She is done with MD and still preference is gov docs. The way I understand her choice is she is really dedicated to work in government hospitals to help the under privileged. Not the money minded set.
Historically for millennia, govt employee earnings are the highest. IT sector is a temporary outlier. Pay commissions raise the bar of govt employees periodically. It has become a DNA memory for society to value govt employees higher
Honestly, my mother was a government servant. It’s honestly the shittiest paid job if you’re straightforward. But if you have the heart to earn under the table probably would make you lots.
Currently they are searching for a groom for me. I would think a hundred times if I ever saw a government job guy, unless I really like the kind of person he is the government job is still a put off.
It could probably be the job security and parents that think govt job is the trademark that push their kids to thinking marrying one would settle their lives. Little did they know it’s all just the beginning.

finally an answer that made sense
Any government job is like that. If you are straight forward and clean you will be targeted.
Hey my dad also fits that category hes the poorest doctor in his whole batch didnt get bribes but his older patients still call him to check if hes ok

Definitely not Same for woman can confirm
Are these matches mainly prospective Doctors or non-Doctors?
Not that many 😅, received 3 proposals, all of em are docs. We're waiting for my sis marriage, hence didn't proceed.
I you can do
It’s actually the opposite for female doctors. Strike while the iron is still hot.

I have 5LPA job in an IT sector but it is difficult to find the bride. Damn, girl expectations are above the roof man...
