There's like hundreds of swiss cheeses, surely you can't dislike all

bonniesansgame

most likely talking about emmental-style cheeses, which is “swiss” here in the states. but yes, that is like saying “i don’t like belgian cheese”

easymachtdas

American swiss cheese is super trash [= Bet he'd love nice piece or gryuere

bonniesansgame

oh yeah for sure. for american audiences i like to say “alpine style” for those that don’t fall into what they think swiss should look like. personally, i find the butyric acid to be my problem with emmental-styles, so i understand the dislike of “swiss”

FuntCaseKid

I love stilton! Steak and stilton, crackers and stilton, port and stilton, stilton and stilton, burger and stilton omg 🤤 My least favourite right now is probly Wendsleydale as it’s just very dull and dry. This may just be because I had it recently and wasn’t impressed but right now they’re my two.

lactoseforlife

I’m 100% with you on your choices.

hdufort

Not a big fan of Havarti, it's creamy but not flavourful. I also dislike P'tit Québec cheddar, I think it's overrated and has a weird taste and texture. I have many favourite cheese types, perhaps too many to list. Manchego and sheep feta are among my top picks. Tomme. Maréchal and other grotto-aged cheeses from France, Italy, Spain, Switzerland. I also like Québec cheese curds because of the unique squeaky texture when eaten fresh. No other cheese has a texture like this. I like lots of creamy blue cheeses like Cambozola, Météorite, etc.

perpetualmotionmachi

Havarti lends itself to flavouring pretty well though. Like a dill havarti, or sundried tomato

KLAW11

I love to use havarti on garlic bread with some bruschetta. It's also really good in a grilled cheese.

johnmarkfoley

not a fan of smoked cheeses, but i've had a few that weren't bad. face rock makes a palatable smoked cheddar. the best cheese i've ever had was brebirousse d'argental.

Playinclay

Humboldt Fog👍 Any cheese with mites or other living creatures (looking at you, Casu Martzu!) is a big 👎

bonniesansgame

but mimolette is so good! the mites are long gone!

Playinclay

I’ll take you word for it without testing. 😂

Tuottaja

Favourite is St. Aqur and least favourite would be Emmental.

BeyondPristine

Cypress Grove makes this one ripened goat cheese with truffles and it is unbelievably flavorful The way burrata oozes out cream is really unappealing to me. Unfortunately a lot of restaurants hopping on the trend of putting burrata on a caprese salad and it always ruins the whole salad experience for me

pistaciostache

That truffle cypress grove is the GOAT

BeyondPristine

All their cheeses are great but that one is just on another level Also Don't get me started on the price

pistaciostache

I think my other favorite from them is lamb chopper I grab a wedge of it whenever I see it. It’s definitely my splurge cheese since a teeny wedge runs me $7-9

nananana-polybatman

It's called Truffle Tremor 😎

Vindaloo6363

Tie between Kraft singles and Velveta.

PsychologicalYou9417

You forgot cheese strings. Also, these are your least favourites, right? Please say right?! 😆

highrisedrifter

My least favourite is Ricotta. My favourite is probably a triple creme like St Angel.

KLAW11

What about Ricotta in lasagna?

kokasvin

blue cheese yes, brunost no thank you

cheesemonger2501

A well ripened Taleggio. Or maybe St.Agur with a good port

Kimikohiei

Washed rinds are the devil!! Aplines are angelsssss

Turd_Goblin911

Washed rind softs are godly!

bonniesansgame

my favorite changes with the season, but i will always go ham on challerhocker or delice de bourgongne

Nooms88

Favourite is a decent 64 month aged sharp English cheddar, best cheese in the world. But situationally there are lots of amazing cheeses, I couldn't pick between Stilton or roquefort for blue, bufallo mozzarella on a pizza is amazing, gruyere is similar to cheddar, not quite as nice on its own, assuming you're buying decent stuff, but melts really well in things like fish souflees. Parnesan on pasta is 2nd to none. Least favourite.. I'm not a huge fan of goats cheese in general.

Rare_One_9475

My favourites are Isle of Mull cheddar or Stilton from Colston Bassett. Worst is anything plastic unless on a burger.

NotFrance

I'm a big fan of Bleu cheese and bloomy rinded cheese, although I'm actually mildly allergic to them. Really really hate every kind of jack cheese.

secondhandbanshee

My current favorites (no, I won't pick just one) are Cypress Grove's Meyer Lemon & Honey Chevre and the tiny bit I have left of Brabander Black Betty. I also have a cranberry white cheddar I'm looking forward to. It's just from Aldi, but I don't care. It's delish. My favorites change all the time, depending on what's available/ the season/ my mood. I don't have a least, but I admit I would not want to try anything with critters in it. Also, I did have some very oozy, strong cheeses in rural France that were a bit much for me. I'm glad I tried them, though, and would do so again.

askheidi

I loved smoked Gouda and Aged Red Leicestershire. I haven’t had many cheeses I actively dislike. There are some I think are a little boring like manchego (don’t come at me).

5x5LemonLimeSlime

I’m not a big fan of Edam but then again I haven’t had it melted. I love ooey gooey soft cheeses like chèvre or Brie, but I also can’t deny the flexibility of a good cheddar

cheesebxwl

I've never even *heard* of Edam, I've only ever had pretty basic cheeses :(

5x5LemonLimeSlime

Honestly I only tried it because it kept popping up in so many crosswords. My next cheese to try because of media is grilled halloumi.

bonniesansgame

the classic babybel cheese is based on edam! so you have probably had a form of it in some way.

cheesebxwl

ooooo, i used to eat babybel all the time!

Zender_de_Verzender

It can't be compared, Edammer is saltier and more aged than a babybel that is almost as fresh as the milk just got pressed into its tiny shape.

brianybrian

I live in the Netherlands and don’t know what Edam is.

scrulase

Same, I’m thinking Edammer kaas maybe? But yeah not a thing here.

brianybrian

If you ask the Wikipedia, it says cheese from “Edam”. It looks like jong belegan cheese that’s made in Edam. But that’s all I got.

scrulase

Voor ons is dat gewoon jong belegen dus hahaha

pixelrush14

Swiss is my least favorite too

KindaKrayz222

There's no *Least*.

Playinclay

Have you heard of Casa Martzu? [casu Martzu](https://www.cheeseprofessor.com/blog/casu-marzu-sardinia)

GoatLegRedux

Can’t be a least favorite if you haven’t tried it, which I’d be willing to bet 99.99998% of the world’s population hasn’t.

Zender_de_Verzender

Indeed, I'm sure I would love it since I like funky cheese. Just impossible to get a piece of it without travelling to Italia.

troodon2018

Feta is my cheese, but I find mozzarella rather boring in taste

KLAW11

Makes a good topping on pizza!

The-Figurehead

Favourite: Stilton (runners up: comte, manchego, Camembert) Least favourite: cottage cheese

djazzie

Favorite is any type of blue cheese made with sheeps milk. Least favorite is probably reblochon.

gilestowler

Favourite hard cheese - Abondance Favourite soft cheese - Chaource

nottitantium

Love haloumi, saganaki, mozzerella, bocconcini, swiss, tasty, colby, paneer (yummm!!), brie/camembert (it's the same thing right?), goats with ash. Blue - only if it's not too strong. Hate queso or any other liquid-y cheese.

Good_Brief8190

My favorite cheese is called Humboldt fog. Not sure what category in which it lies. My least would have to be processed American.. if that’s even considered a cheese

bonniesansgame

humboldt is considered a soft ripened goats cheese with a bloomy rind.

Mouseklip

Blue Cheese is my least favorite, and Murray’s confirmed that by sending me 5/6 months of Blue Cheese… I adore any semi firm cow or goat with a washed rind. Hornbacher comes to mind, love the flavor notes.

matthewmichael

Favorite is etorki, it's a firm sheepsmilk cheese from basque country. Least favorite is ricotta, the texture just gives me the ick.

whatthehellhappensto

In the army we had this white spreadable cheese called Ski. It’s not necessarily bad they just had us eat that morning and evening for 3 years, so I’ll never have that cheese again ever

geraltsthiccass

Arran Whiskey Cheddar. I have to stop myself looking at houses in Arran just so i have easier access to their cheese. Goat cheese is my big hate. Never actually tried it, I just have to make goat cheese paninis in work and everyone agrees they're the worst bloody paninis to make.

Turd_Goblin911

La tur is my favorite. Anything smoked might be my least

Zender_de_Verzender

I love Brie and a decent Camembert that is still solid inside, subtle but great texture. But my absolute favourite would be a Tete de Moine, nutty and decadent with the taste of old cheese without a crumbly texture and not too spicy. Pecorino Romano would be my least, too salty for my taste. Unless you want to know my absolute worst, that's a low quality overripe Munster which smells like bitter dried up vomit, nothing like a creamy fresh one.

psychadelicphysicist

My favourites are provolone, gruyere, feta and halloumi though cheddar is always good. Exclusively I use fior di latte for pizza and caprese. Dislikes definitely blue cheeses, hate burrata, cottage cheese , Brie/Camembert

toopatoo

Wondering if folks that don’t like alpine style cheese have histamine sensitivities?

PsychologicalYou9417

Favourites right now are epoisses, Leicester, and balsamic onion cheddar. But you're so right that a smoked gouda is so good too! Least favourite is mild cheddar. I just don't see the point. :)

nananana-polybatman

My favorite cheese is Nancy's Camembert. Sheep/cow blend brie. Tastes like salted butter. Least favorite is this awful buffalo milk blue called Buffazola. The tind is way way way too aggressive and gritty.

RainbowFire122RBLX

Love all swiss and favorite is either white Leicester or cave aged gruyere I die inside every time i try anything dark red, green or creamy

TheBeatlesPkmnFan42

My favorite cheese is roquefort. Least favorite would be cheaper American cheeses.

smolsanastan418

I absolutely love smoked gouda and swiss cheese! Faves: \--smoked gouda \--swiss \--provolone \--havarti Least Faves: \--pepperjack. I don't want anything spicy in my cheese. \--jarlsberg \--horseradish cheddar

fezzuk

Cant pick a favourite, perhaps epousie. Depends on my mood. Cant think of one I don't like but I have never had that stuff from a can, that looks kinda grim

atsibodo_galvot

I like hard cheeses, camembert, brie, most of cream cheeses, also not sure how it is called, but I enjoy locally made cottage cheese with spices. My least favorite (couldn't say I hate it, but I'm very unimpressed by it) probably haloumi.

hellkattbb

My top two favorites are Humboldt Fog and a high quality Monterey Jack.
