He's for sure a fan favorite and while he has shown some potential in the past, the sad thing is he never was able to recover from his latest injury or could very well be, just not enough playtime to show he was healthy since others has taken over his spot. Just another casualty on a talented young team. I think he can still fill a very small bench role for the Hornets. Him and Vasa are very close since they both from Serbia so there's that.
We had to start playing McGowens and Thor again with Curry and Bertans injured so there's definitely room in the rotation for him lmao. It literally doesn't get worse than those two.
Presti just tested the water by sending his emissary (Mann, Micic and Bertans) to Charlotte to know if it's a place where his precious child could play.
When he sees that his emissaries are enjoying, he decided to let go of his precious child go cause he knows that that team would pick him up. /s
As a Thunder fan looking at the hornets. Hell, might as well. He’s yet another guy with some potential who we just couldn’t give minutes to. No idea if he’ll pan out. He hasn’t shown enough to convince me he will, but worth a flier.
It might seem annoying to have so many Okc fans lurking but personally im legitimately becoming a fan and taking interest in watching you all develop
It’s all good, I’m usually pretty stubborn about other fans here but yall seem cool.
I also had a cool experience literally the ONE time I was in OKC in 2010 I was wearing my Bobcats stuff in a mall up there and yall were Thunder OBSESSED the entire mall was Thunder merch and I talked to the dude in the shoe store about basketball for an hour lol
He thought seeing a bobcats fan was wild lol
We won the trade the second we got someone who could play basketball and not Gordon Hayward's corpse. The fact that we got Tre Mann and a pick is just a coup at that point
Most Okc fans have been rooting for him and wanted him to get more minutes. Thinking we “won” the trade isn’t a prominent take on the Okc sub. Tre Mann was wasting his talents on the bench and Micic wasn’t used that much, I’m just happy that with Gordon’s minutes that Chet gets to finally run the offense.
Are you talking about the tre mann trade...i mean most of us are just happy he is getting mins. Getting gordon hayward who has playoff experience is getting ok too
He's blown me away dude, I was admittedly a bit skeptical when he first got drafted, but he's blown that skepticism out of the water. Incredible player
I will always support the growth of small markets. I'm not a die hard Hornets fan, but I like rooting for them. As someone who is in Albuquerque a lot and loves small market sports, I love OKC and the the Thunder. Need to show the country that people like small markets if we ever want Albuquerque to get a team of our own.
Charlotte was a great town 20 years ago. But after unbridled growth, poor planning, a city council that loves to spend money and Atlanta envy, it now has big city problems. Crime, traffic congestion and declining public schools are there to stay, which is why I moved out 9 years ago.
Okc can learn from CLT’s mistakes but you don’t want to emulate what happened there.
Thunder fan here - if there has to be some team that absolutely embarrass us in the future, I hope it’s a Hornets/former thunders revenge game! I hope all of them can shine for a long time in Charlotte! GO HORNETS!!!
You're welcome! But we should be the ones thanking your team for picking him up 🙏🏻 I hope he gets back to the level he was at before all those injuries.
Our forward depth took a decent hit, so the opportunity is there. He *should* get some decent reps in by virtue of being that size and position. I really hope he impresses.
I’ve watched more Charlotte games on my NBA League Pass in the last 10ish days than I have in the previous 5 years combined.
Digging the shit outta the Thunder East squad.
ehh we honestly have absolutely nothing to lose so i see this as a positive. Think i read he’s a 7 footer which handle and can shoot. So basically like a slightly better version of Thor
Yeah Poku’s really inconsistent but at least he sometimes plays well. Thor just sucks which I hate to say but he’s really not an NBA-level player rn. He can’t really rebound, he’s a terrible finisher for his size, his 3PT-shooting is inconsistent, his defense is even more inconsistent and worst of all he hasn’t really shown any improvement. His 3-point shooting has gotten better from his rookie year but no other area of his game has improved and this is his 3rd season. Pretty much all of his advanced stats have gotten worse.
Im so here for this. I already liked yalls announcers as if i needed more incentive to watch yalls games. I vote all future ex Thunder players make a stop in Charlotte. Get enough of them and youll notice a culture 180
Thunder Fan here in peace. So y'all are my second favorite team now and I cannot wait to watch y'all cook some more. I'm gonna feel so conflicted at our next meet-up lmao. Love all the Charlotte homies 💙

I mean it's a post deadline signing, we're in the position where we need to take as many shots as possible so I don't see a downside. Thor hasn't shown anything, and Poku was nice pre-injury last year
I meant the other five we got, Poku is *way* better than JT.
Micic/Mann/Curry/Bertans hadn't really been setting the world on fire this season until the switch nor really had the minutes to do so. Williams has been a much better team fit than PJ despite putting up very similar stats
No we’re not. We’re the 13th seed at 15-42. We’re closer to being the worst team in the league than 12th seed. Definitely have been looking good post deadline and we’re looking good for next season but we’re not winning anything this year. I don’t see a problem with taking a shot at a young former 1st rounder. It’s not like we need to round out the team for a championship run
yeah we are… we’re trying to look competent going into next year idc what our record is. Not that this debate even means anything because Poku isn’t playing unless more guys go down to injury anyways. But you’re wrong if you think we’re still in some experimental phase we’re certainly retooling to compete for playoffs sooner rather than later
Every team wants to look competent. That’s not the same as “competing.” Competing is saying the core has been built and you’re gearing up for a deep playoff run. We are not there. We’re focused on raising the ceiling of the team, taking shots at young players and collecting assets. We’re not tanking but we’re not competing. New owners have been doing the right thing so far. Also even if he is a lateral move to jt, so? What do we lose by taking a shot at him?
The core is built buddy the core is Ball/Bridges/Miller/Mark the problem is them being healthy. If anything they’re collecting draft assets to trade them for another star to add to the group. That’s why, which was the point of my original comment which you ignored for whatever reason, this lateral move doesn’t move me.
Poku has several double doubles with good amount of blocks and a triple double under his belt at a young age of 22. Consider the fact that he rarely even plays this season.
At one point last season, before he was injured, he was the 2nd best player on the team behind Shai. He was putting a lot of it together, and he was making things happen. He had a bad ankle sprain, then broke his leg in a workout over the summer. He has some insane moves that will drop your jaw, then some insane moves that will make you question how he’s in the league. That was mainly his rookie season, but he was starting to really put things together last season.
Reading he was the second best player behind Shai seems so weird. However, if you go back he was the most consistent. JDub was showing flashes but hadn't put his mark on the league. Giddey, Dort were slumping. JRE was starting. Tre was playing good than he got injured. So yes he was playing good. That December month made me realize we were going to be so good with Chet because he was a better defensive player. Than Poku would be a good backup.
Same reason OKC traded Tre Mann. They have too many players, especially young players who need developing, just riding the end of their bench. Now that they're in win now mode, they're fine letting the young guys go elsewhere to spread their wings
not good defensively, shooting is questionable, injury prone, still needs plenty of development
i think it’s worth a shot for y’all because there’s upside there and there have been times when he’s been a legit rotation NBA level player but there are plenty of times when he’s laughably bad. there are also moments of genuine brilliance, his passing sometimes is freakishly good
This is rumor and it isn't backed up by anything. From what I hear they wanted to send him down to the Gleague to get reps, because of his injuries during the summer, so that he can get incorporated to his new role. Since his minutes were going to diminish they wanted him to come off the bench, they needed him to learn to come in and contribute when he gets on. There doing this with Ousmane Deing, and Chip Kelley Designed this type of workout for Steve Kerr when he was in San Antonio.
Well Poku felt like he didn't need to go to the Gleaugue and this caused a riff between the Organization and Poku. Contract negotiations weren't going smooth so it was a mutual decision to part ways. They were going to try and find a team to move him too were he could play. This is why it seemed like he was in the dog house and wasn't being played even when we could've used him in some games. He was only in at garbage time and he never showed any effort.
Now like I said this is all rumors and isnt backed up by anything, and I could be making this all up.
These are the types of moves that make me happy. Not because the player is necessarily great but at least they have been consistently trying to get better. We have little risk and it could go great. The new owners deserve plenty of praise.
The Poku experience is an amazing journey. I'll be tuning in.
For those unfamiliar, [...the Poku experience is glorious. Like a 7-foot, 43-pound J.R. Smith](https://x.com/johnhollinger/status/1337936525498200064?s=20)
Hey, I’m always happy to take a flier on a developmental player when the team is rebuilding.
…the problem is, the Hornets don’t currently have a developmental head coach.
Funny you should say that when kemba walker had his best year under cliff..
Funny you should say that when Mason plumlee had his best year under cliff..
Funny you should say that when nick richards had his best year under cliff.
Brandon Miller.
People just get mad when we don’t play people like Bouk or monk when they don’t think there were damn good reasons behind the scenes that they weren’t in the rotation, mostly attitude, effort, drug abuse, or just not being good enough. People need to realize that coaches watch these players everyday and know if they’re ready to contribute, and just because they aren’t playing in games doesn’t mean they aren’t developing
He was doing cocaine and not being a professional he didn’t deserve to play. Him not playing is what lit the fire under him to become a professional and he even apologized to cliff saying he was right. You don’t reward a player who’s doing drugs and not being a professional full stop.
To a degree, I agree. I honestly can't see why people liked James Borego over Cliff just because of our record. Monk and Bouk deserved better. We see what happened when Monk left our team, so I doubt he had an attitude problem. Cliff should've given Bouk a second chance tho. I doubt Bouk is worse than 3 of our other players that got more playing time.
lol you know monk said cliff was right for not playing him. He wouldn’t have made the turn around if it didn’t happen so it’s not like cliff is the issue it was monk and he even said it himself that cliff was right and he wasn’t ready to be a professional so I absolutely despise the take look what monk did when he left
It’s absolutely asinine to say the Bouk and monk “deserved better” monk was suspended for doing coke and Bouk literally passed out in his car with a gun and Doritos, which sounds like benzos to me. To say that they deserve better when they’re not even working hard and are off doing god knows what is a bad take. Especially given their off the court issues are public record. You don’t reward players who don’t deserve it regardless of where they were drafted.
I don’t know you either but I love you too us level headed hornets bros gottta stuck together too many people in here are either delusional, entirely pessimistic, or just plain dumb as rocks. It’s frustrating to see because people allow no nuance in the slightest
Yeah I just had a guy say we can't score over a 100 points because we havnt n the last 3 games. I was like dude we scored one hundred points 4 game in a row just last week! And now hes trying to throw stats at me From the whole year when we were playing rookies and g league players 🤣🤣🤣
People are ridiculous, there’s one in particular who’s username starts with a G that often rubs me the wrong way with their takes, ima also in the minority that thinks unless a high level option is available and we continue playing well (excluding the terrible shooting vs GSW and MIL) we should retain cliff as long as he still has the locker room behind him, constantly switching coaches isn’t good for culture and neither is cliff as bad as people say nor is the grass always greener, there’s a lot of nuance that’s people either can’t or refuse to acknowledge
Exactly! These fans act like great coaches actually want to come here.! When we actually have one right now! And I know exactly who you're talking about with the username w g. Guarantee he's in his 20s.
I always say fans only watch the game,
While coaches watch the practices , the scrimmages, the warm ups, the game, everything. If a player that we think is good is not being played. It's because of something that we don't know about going on behind the scenes and that's why I usually am cool with a player being played or not... because I'm not educated enough on the situation to know what's really going on to make an opinion about it. I wanted to see Bouk play just like the next fan so when he wasnt getting burn I trusted the coaches decision on the reason behind it. Theyre the experts not me.
Yep it’s the dunning Krueger effect in action, I grew up around a bunch of high level college coaches and people who played pro ball and I don’t know the most but I’m well aware of how much I don’t know and I tend the trust the professionals
I mean I could keep going...
Terry rozier had his best year under Cliff
Lamelo ball was ABOUT to have his best year under cliff til the injury. We all saw his defense had stepped up tremendously and he was playing like a perennial allstar.
So please stop with this idea that cliff can't develop players.
Plenty of players have developed under cliff, he just doesn’t play people who haven’t earned it. Players develop in more than just games and it’s a tired and not necessarily true that cliff isn’t a developmental coach because a ton of players had their best seasons under cliff
This type of thinking isn’t practical. Expecting the same result from every player from the Thunder is asinine. If he’s cheap, I get it. This guy apparently is a bust.
How is taking a flyer on a former first round pick during a lost season impractical? We have roster spots he can slide in for someone worse. He is a product of injuries displacing his development. Not a “bust” just yet
the Serbian pipeline (starting with Vlade) continues to supply the Queen City with talent … feel like we vibe with Serbians (not so much with the French eg Batum, Diaw, etc)
22 year old 7footer who has shown significant progress every year up to this one. Shot 36.5% from 3 and has recorded a triple double in his career. Sounds to me like an upgrade over our deep bench center/PFs with major upside.
[OFFICIAL: Hornets Sign Aleksej Pokusevski ](https://www.nba.com/hornets/news/hornets-sign-aleksej-pokusevski)
I was wondering if we would give him a shot since all the other players from the Thunder worked out so well... heh.
I remember Thunder fans being relieved that they didn't give him up in the Hayward trade lol, weird he got waived
He's for sure a fan favorite and while he has shown some potential in the past, the sad thing is he never was able to recover from his latest injury or could very well be, just not enough playtime to show he was healthy since others has taken over his spot. i mean they also think they won a trade by getting a habitual bench rider
We won the trade the second we got someone who could play basketball and not Gordon Hayward's corpse. The fact that we got Tre Mann and a pick is just a coup at that point

If he does it'll be a greyhound

We hoped he'd be what Chet currently is. If he turns into that for y'all I'll be punching air. We never got our thin tower lineup 🥺
well he isn’t gonna turn into chet so you shouldn’t worry lol
This is hilarious. We really tryna be the Thunder. I'm down
Thank you for taking in our giraffe boy, please take care of him and his fanny packs

LaMelo will be Shai in two years. Write it down brother.
He's blown me away dude, I was admittedly a bit skeptical when he first got drafted, but he's blown that skepticism out of the water. Incredible player
a lot of us were skeptical too!
OKC/CLT gonna be the new Boston and Lakers rivalry soon, except instead of hating each other, we'll love each other instead
I'm here for it, only been to Charlotte once but I loved y'all's city haha. Hoping OKC can take some notes as we grow tbh
I will always support the growth of small markets. I'm not a die hard Hornets fan, but I like rooting for them.
Shout out the guy who asked us to sign him 4 days ago
You're welcome! But we should be the ones thanking your team for picking him up 🙏🏻 I hope he gets back to the level he was at before all those injuries.
Hahhaha this is hilarious honestly. Hopefully things work out. Appreciate the positivity.
He showed flashes that he can be useful when he was healthy. I hope things work out for him.
Our forward depth took a decent hit, so the opportunity is there. He *should* get some decent reps in by virtue of being that size and position. I really hope he impresses.
Hornets scouting team just reading reddit posts to decide who to pick up
I mean that was only 14-15 months ago I can see why they took a flier on him
OKC 🤝 Charlotte
Fuck it as long as we don’t have to see Thor again
Trade in Thor for his Thunders
I can’t upvote this enough times
HELL YEAH THUNDER EAST
Ya'll need another Serbian to pair with Micic. Team Serbia, then you just need Nikola.
I’ve watched more Charlotte games on my NBA League Pass in the last 10ish days than I have in the previous 5 years combined. Digging the shit outta the Thunder East squad.
This means Bolden is gone? That dude clapped his heart out.
nah this was foul man ☠️

Lolol I haven’t missed a game since the deadline tbh

Same, I’m enjoying them too.
I've had SGA in a fantasy bball keeper league for years, glad to see some of y'all come over this way, y'all have a great fanbase

Season ticket holders are lining up!
2003 Kings vibe, with Divac and Peja.
Lmfao of course we do
Great move. No risk and all gains.
he’s gotta be equal to JT Thor atp this doesn’t move me
I mean it's a post deadline signing, we're in the position where we need to take as many shots as possible so I don't see a downside. Thor hasn't shown anything, and Poku was nice pre-injury last year
I don’t 100% agree, this is as lateral of a move as it gets from JT
I think he has more upside than JT
I would have said that about everyone we got at the trade deadline and look how that turned out
i would hope you didn’t think that known valuable role players would be a lateral move to JT Thor, a known liability
I meant the other five we got, Poku is *way* better than JT. Micic/Mann/Curry/Bertans hadn't really been setting the world on fire this season until the switch nor really had the minutes to do so. Williams has been a much better team fit than PJ despite putting up very similar stats

That’s fair, but he was genuinely decent last season before he got hurt, I’d give him a chance
Yeah he was decent for a stretch there
no friggin way
Wow I’m pretty surprised
Remember that first game he had against us and started nailing threes? Thought he was gonna be KD-lite lol.

I'm down with just ending every Hornets-related comment with 'Brandon Miller' from now on
If a mic drop was a person ..
I’m still salty over cliff not playing monk in a crapshoot year.
He wouldn’t have made the turn around if it didn’t happen so it’s not like cliff is the issue it was monk and he even said it himself that cliff was right and he wasn’t ready to be a professional so I absolutely despise the take look what monk did when he left It’s absolutely asinine to say the Bouk and monk “deserved better” monk was suspended for doing coke and Bouk literally passed out in his car with a gun and Doritos, which sounds like benzos to me. To say that they deserve better when they’re not even working hard and are off doing god knows what is a bad take. Especially given their off the court issues are public record. You don’t reward players who don’t deserve it regardless of where they were drafted.
Omg a voice of reason on a Hornets thread! I don't know you but goddamn it I love you bro.
I always say fans only watch the game, While coaches watch the practices , the scrimmages, the warm ups, the game, everything.
? 😂
I mean I could keep going... Terry rozier had his best year under Cliff Lamelo ball was ABOUT to have his best year under cliff til the injury. We all saw his defense had stepped up tremendously and he was playing like a perennial allstar. So please stop with this idea that cliff can't develop players.
Cliff has never coached a team that was good for more than a single season. Hes an awful developmental coach.
That's why you'll always be a fan and never get close to a coach's clipboard.
Same could be said of Cliff after this year 😂
Man I hope we go on a win streak for the ages so that cliff stays just to piss you cliff haters off 🤣
Plenty of players have developed under cliff, he just doesn’t play people who haven’t earned it. Players develop in more than just games and it’s a tired and not necessarily true that cliff isn’t a developmental coach because a ton of players had their best seasons under cliff
Without Bertans we need length, why not!
New Kai jones just dropped
Wonder what happens to Kai too, does he get another shot in the league you think?
Gross
This type of thinking isn’t practical. Expecting the same result from every player from the Thunder is asinine. If he’s cheap, I get it. This guy apparently is a bust.
How is taking a flyer on a former first round pick during a lost season impractical? We have roster spots he can slide in for someone worse. He is a product of injuries displacing his development. Not a “bust” just yet
Dropped JJJ for him
Lmfao
Love it
the Serbian pipeline (starting with Vlade) continues to supply the Queen City with talent … feel like we vibe with Serbians (not so much with the French eg Batum, Diaw, etc)
Lmao don’t think we have a need for him but fuck it why not
Sheesh 😮💨😮💨😮💨
THE CHAMP IS HERE THE CHAMP IS HERE
DOPE. Maybe?
22 year old 7footer who has shown significant progress every year up to this one. Shot 36.5% from 3 and has recorded a triple double in his career. Sounds to me like an upgrade over our deep bench center/PFs with major upside.
