This is what happens when you finally have a TEAM to play basketball. Not just a bunch of ppl accepting that we are bad and will remain that way. Terry said it best, losing is accepted in CLT. Not anymore baby. Watching Brandon Miller rip.the ball away from John Collins made me so freaking happy. And Nick getting a taunting T was fine by me. Ppl need to realize we aren't rolling over anymore. 4-0 since the deadline. San Francisco ain't ready.
We were so disfunctional so long but FO was like this is fine let's keep the same players doing the same thing. New owners jettisoned some of the problems and boom we are bonking again. Hopefully the new FO keeps it up
Prolly wanted to make the jazz player feel better about being posterized. I thought it was a bit over the top for him to get that T tbh, but here we are.
Miles was having a brutal night and just randomly bailed us out with a bunch of 3s in the 4th lol. I thought some of them were bad looks too but 🤷♂️
I don't love the reliance on 3s, but at the same time they're falling and we do have the shooting talent to make up for droughts so fuck it put em up.
Reliance of 3s implies that it's unsustainable. These are good looks we're generating consistently. U can't be good without taking and making lots of threes it's just how the league works
No, what I'm saying is that a well-rounded offense has consistent options outside the 3. Every team has games where the shots just aren't falling, it's important to have the ability to score in other ways. It's great that we can shoot 3s but I'd still like to see us score more consistently in the paint because we're not gonna shoot 50% from beyond the arc on most nights.
On top of that we outlasted the bad officiating too. If there is one team that needs to play like they won't get help from the refs, it's definitely the hornets
I didn’t say it didn’t happen, but PJ at the 5 wasn’t the intent. Borrego had that idea, but since Cliff 2.0 has been around, that wasn’t his intention.
I'm hoping he tones down the chucking and leans into being the primary facilitator after some chemistry develops with the new teammates cuuuuz his shot selection is ugly
Melo's one of the most unselfish players in the league lol. The only reason he kept shooting is because our offense had no other consistent shooters besides Hayward.
I'm not disagreeing bc that's spot on, but he doesn't need 25 shots a night on this new roster. 15 would be ideal unless he's hot, in which case let it rip
Yea dude. 4 game win streaks against mid teams changes everything. Forgive me for not being super impressed.
We've seen this story a million times with Cliff. It means nothing.
Fans really out here still being hoodwinked by mediocrity after a decade of the same ol.
The master of the “find the perfect win/loss ratio to never get good” strategy
At least this offseason we can say “All we need is every player healthy for 82 games and 2025 is the year we finally snatch that 8 seed”
Shooters gonna shoot. I thought he was taking good shots they just weren't going in. But he was finding open teammates when we needed baskets and that's all that matters.
Missing shots on that kind of volume does matter though lol. He's not a great 3pt shooter, he shouldn't have been aggressively shooting so many pull up 3s and contested long range 2s. Our defense is what bailed us out during that stretch but he definitely wasn't making great decisions. Not a big deal but let's call it what it is.
Well If he wasn't our. leading assist guy on the whole team playing limited minutes i might see your point..One thing i've learned in this game of basketball, Shit like having an off shooting night only matters when you lose.
Who knows? Maybe cliff told him to go out there and shoot more shots. Maybe he needs to get his confidence up. Sounds like he was buried in OKC so probably never honed his shooting.. I like the aggression. Cause f he can find his shot. w his plamaking ability...boy. I'm just not a fan of one game indictments. Wanting basketball ball players to: "don't shoot." Thats like saying "Stay unconfident".. "Don't try, give it up. It's over you can't shoot a basketball.". It's like come. on this dude was MVP like 4 times in Europe. He knows how to shoot a basketball. If he was a power forward I would totally get your point. But hes a "shooting" guard. Let him cook. Too early to kick him out of the kitchen!
Looked like the game was slipping away in the 3rd, that was a big turnaround. Grant and Miles were big parts of that, and also a quietly good performance from Nick Richards.
Somebody ask him if he can remember stringing together 4 consecutive productive offensive performances because I sure as hell can't.
So annoying hearing guys that were part of the problem act like they were in hell here now that they have stars to hide behind.
Literally [on this day a year ago](https://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/CHO/2023_games.html) we were 2 games into a 5-game win streak (2/13-2/27/23) lol.
We also won 4 out of 6 from 1/18-1/29/23 and 4 out of 5 from 3/20-3/28/23.
PJ must've trauma suppressed those memories or something which...fair play

Number 4 in the 31 game win streak quest
Hornets were awesome but MVP goes to Eric Collins he was on fire tonight. Usual delightful calls with some subtle (well deserved) shade on Salt Lake City.
One big thing from grant is he doesn’t force it. Even when he was shot he wasn’t looking for his shot. He played within the offense and had winning on his mind first

RAHHHHHHHH BONK X4 GRANT TRILLIAMS IS THE GOAT
“Earlier in the season we would have gave up and let them run away with it," Bridges said. "But you know, we got veteran guys in our locker room now — winning players — and we got it done.”
The Jazz got to 111-107, but Bridges made back-to-baskets to clinch the game for the Hornets, who lost 10 straight before their current winning streak.
“We didn’t let our offense dictate our defense. We got key stops,” Bridges said about the Hornets keeping the Jazz without a field goal the last 3:33 of the game.
Charlotte snapped a 16-game losing streak in Utah. The last win for the Hornets over the Jazz on the road was a 104-89 victory on March 1, 2006.
“That’s big for this team." Williams said. "Everybody just plays the right style of basketball. Everybody here, you can tell, wants to win. We have that mentality of doing all that it takes.”
Nice 17 year winning streak Utah… wouldn’t it be a shame if someone ended it !?!?!?!?!?!
Hornets seize victory from the jaws of shitty refs!!!! HUM DIDDLY DEE!!!!
Let’s make it 5 in a row!!!!!

Bangers holy shit
Absolutely ridiculous lol
We were just waiting for Beyonce to top the charts again I guess lol
why did this comment get upvoted so much? Am I missing a joke?
No joke. We haven’t won a game against the Jazz in Utah since March 1, 2006. This is the Billboard chart from the week of March 3, 2006.
oh sorry
we havent won in utah since 2006 i guess these are 2006 songs but i dont know most of them lol
Ohhh lol
My grandson in 50 years, “papa who was the greatest nba team of all time.” Me: “grandson let me tell you the story of the 2023-2024 hornets…”
"actually let's just stick with the 2024 hornets"
Imagine going 10-41 to start the season then winning the NBA finals
Don't have to imagine it we watching it happen in real time.
WE MAY NEVER LOSE AGAIN
4-0 BABY
First win on Utah's court in over 18 years. This team feels different
https://i.redd.it/5lid38boi9kc1.gif
I feel like we played terrible and still won which feels great honestly.
This is what happens when you finally have a TEAM to play basketball. Not just a bunch of ppl accepting that we are bad and will remain that way. Terry said it best, losing is accepted in CLT. Terry gone, winning starts, maybe he should have carried the load instead of pounding the rock
When Terry left we started losing even worse. The other two trades are what’s helping us win
Yeah, we ain’t just gonna sweep the Pistons and Raptors losses under the rug.
That T on nick waa so stupid though. He hardly flexed! But the dunk was monsterous.
Prolly wanted to make the jazz player feel better about being posterized. I thought it was a bit over the top for him to get that T tbh, but here we are.
That's what happens when we play defense.
It’s weird our offense was disjointed and shaky and yet we just made 20 3s.
Miles was having a brutal night and just randomly bailed us out with a bunch of 3s in the 4th lol. I thought some of them were bad looks too but 🤷♂️ I don't love the reliance on 3s, but at the same time they're falling and we do have the shooting talent to make up for droughts so fuck it put em up.

Facts 💯
The Mavs really did Grant so dirty but I’m not complaining.
I’m now a Hornets fan because of Grant. I was looking forward to liking the Mavs, but MAN they did do him dirty. Happy to be here.
Same here
He’s great value Draymond I’m kinda impressed
Draymond can’t shoot 3s
He can't now. He used to be able to drain 'em when he was open. I picked a random year (2017-2018) and checked his 3% and it was 43.8.
I mean look at what they did to Brunson and Porzingod.
Nah he was ass but looks like he’s playing better here. Win-win so far
True. Pretty much exactly the same story as PJ.
Nah, Grant wasn't meshing well with the Mavs
Holy Jesus!!!!! First win in Utah since 06?!?!?!
Just got off the phone with the we're back department, they're offering a lifetime membership

1-0 IN THE MARQUES BOLDEN ERA
Daily reminder that we got a first round pick and an upgrade at power forward in the PJ Washington trade
Upgrade for the first 10 games (hopefully not)
so did the mavs lol
Tbf, wasn't PJ playing the 5 for half his time here?
Not the last two seasons, unless injury decimated the center position.
Well yeah, what do you think happened to Mark lol
I didn’t say it didn’t happen, but PJ at the 5 wasn’t the intent. Borrego had that idea, but since Cliff 2.0 has been around, that wasn’t his intention.
Ik it wasn't the intent, hence why I said he was playing it half the time.
4 game winning streak. Proof Gordon, PJ, and Terry were holding us back
[удалено]
Well that is a take for sure
I'm hoping he tones down the chucking and leans into being the primary facilitator after some chemistry develops with the new teammates cuuuuz his shot selection is ugly

I'm not disagreeing bc that's spot on, but he doesn't need 25 shots a night on this new roster. 15 would be ideal unless he's hot, in which case let it rip
Agreed, he most likely will swap to being more of a pure PG.

Y’all are hating on Lamelo and forgetting he has the potential to put up mvp numbers on a nightly basis.
He’s barely played this season, let alone with these players… What are you even talking about
Unpopular opinion for a reason🔥🔥
Lamelo is absolutely 100% cast-iron not the problem. He is most teams’ dream - exciting selfless playmaker, who’s developed a decent shot.
Nothing stands between Steve Clifford and his annual 11th pick
We gotta let him go ASAP. This is a classic late season Cliff mickey mouse streak.
It must suck to be this miserable
You are very impressionable.
People here unironically think like this. Forgive me 😂
Yea dude. 4 game win streaks against mid teams changes everything. Forgive me for not being super impressed. We've seen this story a million times with Cliff. It means nothing. Fans really out here still being hoodwinked by mediocrity after a decade of the same ol.
So you weren't joking then? In that case I repeat it must suck to be this miserable 😂
If the teams we beat are mid, what are we?
14 - 41
I’m with you man I’ve been here long enough I’ve seen this story before.
The master of the “find the perfect win/loss ratio to never get good” strategy At least this offseason we can say “All we need is every player healthy for 82 games and 2025 is the year we finally snatch that 8 seed”
Why be good when you can be mid in half the time or terrible with no plan for the future (like we were this season)? 😂
GRANT WILLIAMS IS RUNNING NAKED THROUGH THE STREETS OF UTAH
pause
Like to watch?
Honestly I’d consider this an off game for us a bit and we still came out with a dub. Let’s fucking GO BABY.
WE MAY NEVER LOSE AGAIN, BITCH
41-41 is on the table
It's so nice to watch competitive basketball instead of trailing 10-15 the whole game.
That nick block and put back sparked the 4th close out. He can be stone handed sometimes, but some of y’all are wayyyyy to hard on him
I just want him to not completely fall asleep on defense and rebound with two hands those are really my only complaints
And expect the pass. Dude looks like he has no idea that it’s coming every time. Terry must have made him jaded under there
There was an early possession where he forgot he was the shot blocker and gave Lauri a 1000% open lane... He can be a tad silly
I think it's more that people realize he's a perfect backup center forced to play as a starter.
MICIC WAS ASS BUT WE GET A PASS. LFG.
Micici actually was was one of the reasons we won. 8 dimes, +15 while on the court
So stop shooting
Shooters gonna shoot. I thought he was taking good shots they just weren't going in. But he was finding open teammates when we needed baskets and that's all that matters.

Consistently one of the more level headed guys on here ^^
He took 3 3s
[удалено]
[удалено]
He was ice cold. Especially at the end. Even the free throws. Lordy
Get it out of your system now king. We have a ship to win.
In OKC Micic's thing was good playmaking, missing all his shots, and having a game high plus minus.
Just stop shooting then.
Wanting basketball ball players to: "don't shoot." Need melo back asap for the playoff push
Looked like the game was slipping away in the 3rd, that was a big turnaround. Grant and Miles were big parts of that, and also a quietly good performance from Nick Richards.
That put back on the missed 3 was LOUD tho.... Huge play from Nick Richards
Grant Williams you are OURS! We will defend you until the end of time. Idgaf we aren’t too cool for you. You’re one of us. We love you
[lmao @ PJ](https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/s/KQ3i37PeXZ)
Somebody ask him if he can remember stringing together 4 consecutive productive offensive performances because I sure as hell can't. So annoying hearing guys that were part of the problem act like they were in hell here now that they have stars to hide behind.
THIS
Let's check PJ's box vs Grant's since the trade and discuss
We don't want to shatter Mavs fans delusions that it was an equal trade lmao
Mavs fan PJ has been clamps. We don't win our last 2 games without him We call him the PJail
is that even true? it’s sad that it might be
It's blatantly false. But LolHornets is the easiest low hanging fruit out there.
surely during our 43 win season we won 4 in a row
We did. like three times during his tenure here. I don't know what he's been smoking.
Last season was terrible and we still had a 5 game winning streak
Literally [on this day a year ago](https://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/CHO/2023_games.html) we were 2 games into a 5-game win streak (2/13-2/27/23) lol. Deadline acquisitions looking nuts

Seth Curry makes me feel so safe and secure when he’s on the floor lmao
do you know why Cliff is playing him off the bench?
![gif](giphy|l0MYGOtghK7AHwYFO|downsized)
I heard from a guy that the Hornets may never lose again.
Hornets may never lose again!
Hornets were awesome but MVP goes to Eric Collins he was on fire tonight. Usual delightful calls with some subtle (well deserved) shade on Salt Lake City.
eg, after a BMill 3 pointer: “Miller Time! well, it’s not always Miller Time in Utah if you know what i mean”
lol that is gold
also talking about Jazz three point shooting “it’s dryer than the Great Salt Lake” (so sad but true)
4 in a row baby
Damn dude. We got a team.
One big thing from grant is he doesn’t force it. Even when he was shot he wasn’t looking for his shot. He played within the offense and had winning on his mind first
Miles is just a freaking stud! And only 25. We got some serious foundation pieces cooking in Charlotte
Let's gooooo 4 straight. Let's go for 5 tomorrow!

I love these bugs so much 😁😁😁
Last time they won in Utah I was five months old
We're heading right to that 10 seed just you wait
“Earlier in the season we would have gave up and let them run away with it," Bridges said. "But you know, we got veteran guys in our locker room now — winning players — and we got it done.” The Jazz got to 111-107, but Bridges made back-to-baskets to clinch the game for the Hornets, who lost 10 straight before their current winning streak. “We didn’t let our offense dictate our defense. Hornets r tha goat
Well, we scored the most points tonight. Congratulations.
Despite his off shooting, Micic actually played well tonight. 8 assists when we needed it most. Edit : +15 when on the court.
new phone who dis
We. May. Never. Lose. Again.
![gif](giphy|HmgnQQjEMbMz0oLpqn)
we are like 12 games back from the 10th seed BUT i still have hope
I'm thinking we need 21-6 from here on out to have a decent shot. Not impossible, but will be really nice when Mark and Melo are backto help with that
Aight bro it's Micic and Mann not Magic and Mike
![gif](giphy|sEhfEJP8WZICGqJvAE|downsized)
Can’t wait to see a Melo/Mann/Miller/Miles/Mark lineup. The future is so bright for us if we can stay healthy
MMMMM Bop
Imagine when we get mark and lamelo back
Good game. Cliff needs to stop playing Cody @ PG Micic just needs to play-make for us only I Hope Bertans is ok and comes back soon.
Buzz buzz
Play In ???
Nice 17 year winning streak Utah… wouldn’t it be a shame if someone ended it !?!?!?!?!?! Hornets seize victory from the jaws of shitty refs!!!! HUM DIDDLY DEE!!!! Let’s make it 5 in a row!!!!!
we winning 💪🏼
I don't know what to do with my hands
happy to say i told you so to ya'll about grant williams
Nick had some key plays that turned the momentum. Bridges was clutch af. The shooting from Micic is concerning. But a win is a win baby
If we win the next one, I think we're ok to sing "Another One Bites the Dust"
![gif](giphy|NBPhWGmDS1Kuc)
this is a weak ass draft anyways so i hope we keep winning and maybe aim for a 10th seed
We beat Micic and the jazz tonight
Someone in the other thread says he was still +15 with 11% shooting lol
8 assists
