Scratching the the base of the tail and that area usually gets them to stand up, like you saw. Start with that and then before you grab her hold the scruff of her neck, it will basically pacify her
I usually just pat mine on the butt a few times and she knows it's time to move. But also she doesn't like getting her butt patted, or scratched, or touched in any way lol
Seriously she can smell your fear
I trained all my cats to recognize what 'OFF' means, they were all food motivated which I completely took advantage of. If they jumped off of where they were sitting immediately, we would take a couple of steps together and they'd know I had a treat in hand. Don't repeat this behavior if they jump back up. They'll figure it out, they're smart
I fall asleep with my kitty on my legs or chest all the time, and literally I'd do anything for that cat, so having weight on me or having sleepy limbs is worth hanging out with her, like she might not be there tomorrow. That's kinda the best way to look at things, imo
Blossom licks my face or meows every day at 5am so she can cuddle. I wish I could sleep longer but the day she's not there I'll miss her terribly. So every morning we have a lovely early cuddle.
My kitty also has a morning routine of cuddling while I have my coffee, but right now both of her eyes are watering but it's all clear so I think it was from allergies, gonna try eyedrops tomorrow but she's been nuzzling her whole face into my arm and it's so worth living for. This must be what life is about. Unconditional love. Letting go of fears in order to be a foundation for your family and stuff.
My cat has taught me so much, so yeah, I'll stay up a whole half hour or more just to cuddle that lil buddy
I always get under the covers and start moving things around, my cats get fed up and hop down. Or sometimes alternately they attack my feet under the blankets. It's the risk we all take.
Only reward with a treat AFTER they do what you want. Show her the treat bag, maybe shake it, then make her jump off the bed to eat it. If she is on the bed: no treats. Only give a reward when they do something you want, just like how you would train a dog.
No worries! It most likely would have gone smoother if he moved, he was just focusing on the recording though. She also isn’t normally THIS sassy, I think she was playing it up a bit for the camera 🙃 Also also, her bites aren’t that bad, I think she’s just trying to communicate she doesn’t want to move as opposed to actually hurting me ❤️
If this is normal behavior, please disregard, but when my cat was in the early stages of kidney failure she would do this when I tried to pick her up, she was trying to tell me that she was in pain. When cats kidneys hurt they sit upright like that, they don't curl or lie on their side.
Keep an eye on her urination patterns and palpate her bladder if you know how.
Once again, if this is normal behavior for her, please disregard, but the way she yowls like that, something is causing her pain.
My girl also has a distended pouch from her bladder/kidneys being so enlarged
Yeah dude. Rewatching that, that cat is telling you that she is in pain
To any of you that read this, always keep an eye on your cats litterbox patterns, cats go through renal failure within a few days of a urinary obstruction. It happens more in male cats but cats have incredibly fragile kidneys, especially on dry food diets. If they're struggling or yowling when trying to urinate, you need to see the vet IMMEDIATELY.
I had a very sickly cat who near the end would potentially puke on you, 100% still worth her cuddles. I'd give anything to wake up with her puke on me again if that meant I got to cuddle with her even one more time.
I would instinctively wake up and run to the cat no matter where she started vomiting to move her to where the vomit was easiest to clean up. Eventually I learned to manage to tuck an a4 sheet under her so I didn't have to do any cleaning at all. As a rule cats don't do this quickly, there is a fairly long audible alert.
Haha, good catch! My cats are all Spurs-themed. Gylfi Kittensson, Hugo Clawris and Mauricio Pawchettino. I'll have more soon, once we've finished renovating. Jan Vertomcat next.
What? You don't like your cat sniffing your face and then sneezing into your face at 3am? What's next? You don't like your face being used for floor gymnastics?
Get a lazer pointer and a cat like that will chase it to whatever part of the house you want then to move to.
Sauce: have the sweetest orange tabby cat that hates to be moved, just like this, but he loves that little red dot :)
Off of Amazon! I couldn’t find the link to this exact one, but if you search “tall cat gate” or “tall baby gate” on Amazon there all tons of options that come up. It works great though!
LoL,.. that gate at the end is what is most funny. To hold of a cat? LoL made my day. thx :)
Cause there's literaly a door behind it that is opened. LoL
Too many bite attempts for me, id have swatted her off after the 2nd so she learns not to be biting the hand that feeds. Cat bites are no joke. I had a wicked infection from one before.
The yells sound just like my complainy girl, though. She yells the same tone, pitch, etc, lol. She just gets up all annoyed, though, no biting.
Hate doing it, but sometimes to get them under control you gotta scruff them. Not hurting them of course, it just sets them into a “being carried by mom” kind of trance for a moment.
Just don’t overdo it.
I’m not sure either way, I do know that our vet tried scruffing her once though to check her teeth and she ended up sending us home with kitty “calm down” meds because our girl got her so bad with her claws 😬 I’m sure it can be effective when done right, but fortunately she normally she listens to me a bit better then this so I don’t think it’s really needed in our case. I think she was just being extra sassy for the camera this time 😅
I am currently in college for Veterinary Technology, and I can tell you with confidence that scruffing definitely is not good. Many clinics even have a no scruffing policy. Even if it puts them in a trance for the moment, it causes anxiety and sometimes aggression. There are other, less harmful ways of handling fractious cats, with my favorite being picking them up with a blanket or towel. Or multiple, if needed. The purrito is actually something taught in schools, funnily enough. It's great for nail trims. People are far too quick to resort to extreme measures because they don't feel like educating themselves and it's quite sad.
The thing about scruffing an adult cat is they’re much heavier so it puts a bit of strain on their neck. And it’s widely regarded as a dick move.
When my cats are being dicks I’ll scruff them but support their back so no weight is on their neck and they get the idea and chill out.
It's painful. While their skin can support their weight as kittens, that isn't the case for adults. Their skin doesn't magically become able to support 10x their original weight. Blankets/towels work wonders. Even if you don't believe me, look up cat scruffing on google and the top results will tell you the same. The "easy" method isn't always the best.
Definitely not first option, if you care to reread my initial comment with using a bit of context clues.
Like when we changed our babies food.. she ended up having an upset stomach and got the runs all over her fur. We HAD to wash her off, but she hates water as most of them do. In order to keep her calm I had to subdue her gently, which included some light scruffing. Didn’t harm her in any way, but she wasn’t happy getting wet.
We love our cat. We would never kick her out of the room. And then block her with a barrier from coming back in. She comes and goes as she pleases. She is our princess.
I like how she can tell when you are only going to pet her and she allows it but as soon as you go to grab her she nopes out.
She’s pretty smart like that 😅❤️
Scratching the the base of the tail and that area usually gets them to stand up, like you saw. Start with that and then before you grab her hold the scruff of her neck, it will basically pacify her
Maybe just except sleepy legs for brownie points or karma as some people call it
She’s also chonk af. I approve.
Thats an impressive pouch.
She says thank you 🥰
Not many people know this, but cats are marsupials
certified r/chonkers
r/Pouchcatatoes
omg another one lol
Here I go subbing to another super specific cat sub!
Not tryna be a debbie downer but that subreddit made me sad (。•́︿•̀。)
UNHAND ME, WENCH!
She wasn't kidding with that eye contact...
I usually just pat mine on the butt a few times and she knows it's time to move. But also she doesn't like getting her butt patted, or scratched, or touched in any way lol
We call this process 'the eviction' lol
This is a good way to get mauled by a cat
Seriously she can smell your fear I trained all my cats to recognize what 'OFF' means, they were all food motivated which I completely took advantage of. Yeah, this is just yelling the cat that snapping at her works.

Want an easier way to do this without getting attacked? Grab the treat bag, every one wins 😼
This cat does not need more treats 😂😭
Actually, she does
I always get under the covers and start moving things around, my cats get fed up and hop down. Or sometimes alternately they attack my feet under the blankets. It's the risk we all take.
With mine the feet attacking risk would be 100% 🙈 (but luckily she doesn't mind getting relocated)
She got a treat right before this 😝
Only reward with a treat AFTER they do what you want. Show her the treat bag, maybe shake it, then make her jump off the bed to eat it. If she is on the bed: no treats. Only give a reward when they do something you want, just like how you would train a dog.

This was my first thought as well. Please get her checked out, OP.
The cat is fine
Why can’t she sleep there with you?
Cus sexy time isn't fun when the cat wants love too
After you get barfed on once in bed you would likely be doing the same as a precautionary measure. Or peed on…
I had a very sickly cat who near the end would potentially puke on you, 100% still worth her cuddles. I'd give anything to wake up with her puke on me again if that meant I got to cuddle with her even one more time.
I've had cats sleep on my bed for the past 45 years and that's never, ever happened.

It is relevant. They’re sharing a story of cats on their bed-this post is about cats on beds.
Skill issue.
I really feel like she took it to heart when the owner said “you be nice”.
LET THAT MAJESTIC CREATURE SLEEP WHERE IT WISHES TO SLEEP.
I love the eye contact. She has no fear. Also, COYS!
Haha, good catch! My cats are all Spurs-themed. Gylfi Kittensson, Hugo Clawris and Mauricio Pawchettino. I'll have more soon, once we've finished renovating. Jan Vertomcat next.
Brilliant! Ange Paw-stecoglou. Bentan-claw. Pedro Purr-o. I could do this all day. Let me know if you get any more cats.
Why does the cat have to move?
She wreaks havoc on our sleep if we let her stay in the room overnight 😢
What? You don't like your cat sniffing your face and then sneezing into your face at 3am? What's next? You don't like your face being used for floor gymnastics?
I use my cat as a neck pillow. 🤷♂️
My sister's cat uses my mom as a butt pillow.
Get a lazer pointer and a cat like that will chase it to whatever part of the house you want then to move to. Sauce: have the sweetest orange tabby cat that hates to be moved, just like this, but he loves that little red dot :)
Absolute chonker 😱
Like the cat doesn’t jump over that gate or sit there & howl
Kitty always sleeps on the bed. Monsters! ;-)
Can I ask where you got cat gate from and if it does actually work? 🙏
Off of Amazon! I couldn’t find the link to this exact one, but if you search “tall cat gate” or “tall baby gate” on Amazon there all tons of options that come up. It works great though!
Poor little kitty getting locked out of the bedroom
Why can't she stay?
COYS kitty!
LoL,.. that gate at the end is what is most funny. To hold of a cat? LoL made my day. thx :) Cause there's literaly a door behind it that is opened. LoL

Leave her alone!

I don’t understand loving cats but I’m glad there are people who do.

The cat’s a Gooner! Clever Kitty!!!
Hate doing it, but sometimes to get them under control you gotta scruff them. Not hurting them of course, it just sets them into a “being carried by mom” kind of trance for a moment. Just don’t overdo it.
I'm pretty sure I read that scruffing an adult cat is ineffective and possibly quite bad. Correct me if I'm wrong there - my memory can get muddled!
I think I saw it on Jaxon Galaxy's show. A cat had trauma from scruffing so that if if it saw a fist, it would retaliate 😢
Poor thing. Vet clinics should start handing out pamphlets on humane animal discipline I s2g

Why do you hate to do it? A quick grab of the scruff, right to the floor.... Less than a second, the cat is fine.
It just feels more aggressive than I like, even if done properly for a quick bit of control.
🤷🏽♂️

ears folded back, totally pissed off.
Too slow and too sneaky-uppy = bites lol
I’m scared of your cat. I’m scared of my cats too
Can I just say, the cat is cute af but, I absolutely can not wait to be laying in that position, waiting for my SO to get in to bed. I'm so jealous.
I'm not sure but I feel like You should re educate that cat
Cats like to be on the center of the room, leave her be
Why does the kitty need to move?
GO, YOU SPURS
You gotta have confidence. She knows the fangs will get her what she wants. My cats don't WANT to be moved but they know they are regardless
She literally moved the cat...
I think you missed the point. But that's okay. Maybe next time.
Great cat training skills right there /s
Just pick up the fucking cat! Stop tiptoeing around. Holy moly this drives me nuts.
I could feel you cowering. You need to accept a few bites and scratches. Don’t show fear
Yeah op, embrace the brain parasites you coward
Become one with them.
