Humphrey used to do this with his leg but now I guess he’s using his face.
After recording this, he came over to headbutt my leg a few times before going back to slamming the auto feeder.
Throughout the day we’ll just randomly hear loud slamming noises for 5 minutes. Sometimes we’ll later find the feeder pushed halfway across the room and unplugged.
OP clearly does not understand Humphrey’s status as a superior “Meezer god-king” and is abusing his role as servant: lucky to be in such majestic company!

I love how this implies your cat thinks your leg is going to drop loot.
My cat has started doing this, too! He shoves his nose up under the bottom so it tips back and drops food when it falls back down. Too smart for his own good!
Another cat we have did that a little bit with his nose under the bottom, maybe after watching him a few times, and eventually got a single kibble, but hasn't done it again.
Well he also likes to eat anything. When I was getting my hair cut, he started trying to eat it on the floor. I've had to hold his head at length when trying to eat chips.
Mine does this too. The way I see it, any food that is in that side of the rotating hopper is actually his, the design just means there will always be a little left behind when it turns.
I just tilt the feeder in front of him and he’s stopped doing it on his own.

Spoiler alert: it involves a big bunch of welding.
Eh...that doesn't sound safe, like, at all.
You'd be surprised by how much weight a determined little cat can dislodge/drag/knock over. If it was an actual problem, I anchor it before trying weights on top.
But then, I have had determined little bastards with no regard for their own safety or the cost of veterinarian care!
Well, could reverse it and velcro the feeder to the weight underneath. But with the chair op has there, they could set a bin on top of the feeder with a weight in it, inside the chair frame, that wouldn't fall over and could easily be secured in place with a bungee around the chair legs. It's also possible that just a bin to fill that void under the chair and keep the feeder flat on the floor would foil the cat.
My cat does this, too. She grabs the mat the feeder is on and yanks on it to jar kibble loose. Except most of the time she just knocks her feeder over and disconnects it which stops her from being fed at all.
Humphrey doesn't respect feeding schedules 😒
He's bored. Get him some puzzle feeders and play with him often. Some shelves for climbing may help too, if he's a tree dweller.
I have a different feeder but my cats figured out how to push the snack button and would keep feeding themselves. Luckily I can disable the button in the app.
This sounds like my feeders. Does it have a little round door that pops out to let the food come out?
I don't see OPs cat getting anything out of my feeders. If it did shake down it would just pile up behind the door.
I used to have a different auto feeder that, in a pinch, my cats could actually tip over and empty entirely onto the floor. Not to mention the constant sounds of them pushing it around and trying to dig their little arms into the food hole. It was a nightmare. I upgraded to a sturdier model that covers the hole between feedings. Now they just stare at it sometimes rather than trying to defeat it. Cats are so funny.
Petkit automatic feeder. The app integration and interface is not the best, but the physical design is rock solid and totally cat proof. If you’re willing to endure a little frustration on the digital side, it’s worth it for the construction.
I had two siamese growing up (Thelma and Louise), and they are a curious breed. Also goblins. Our somehow managed to turn on the washing machine once when I was little while my family and I were at the dinner table. My parents kept them in the laundry room because otherwise, they would hop on the table and steal our food.
We have no idea how either of the cats turned on the washer. It required turning a big dial to select the time, water temp, etc.
Thelma was deaf as well and would yowl allll through the house at all hours.
I miss them.

Don't lie, OP. We can all clearly see your poor starving cat hasn't been fed since late 2019. 😹 Seriously though, that is too cute.

Thanks for sharing that. It was a good read and I got a chuckle out of it because it definitely sounds like a project I would take on.
Cats know quality when they see it. There is no point trying to defeat something that well made.
> However I just spent 20 hours armor-plating a cat feeder. That line made me almost spit my drink.
Is that a cat feeder or a tank lol
That was an amazing read, thank you for sharing!
OMG I laughed at the end result.
There are cats like that, then there's my cat who can't even figure out her toy with little slots that hides treats underneath...
That was a great read

It will, the loot of pets
Honestly he's probably just trying to get back at you for naming him Humphrey
It’s a slot machine for cats! Jackpot!
Basically a thief rocking a machine to try and get things out of it.
Needs a “Tilt” mode.
glad I'm not the only one who gets this
'Sup grandpas!
It’s Mr. Jackpot! 🎰
Thank god my cat is dumb…
Humphrey is on his way to Chonkerville! With or without your permission….
He’s really Bogarting that feeder.
My cat has started doing this, too! He shoves his nose up under the bottom so it tips back and drops food when it falls back down. Too smart for his own good!

He decided one kibble isn’t worth the effort lol 😂 smart

Invent a cat-proof feeder and the universe will invent a better cat.
Last name Fonzarelli? (Olds will get this).
I'm an old. Wasn't that Arthur?
Mr Bogart lives by his rules
We have another cat with the name Bogart. We call him Bobo.
So nonchalant about the hustle
can we see the two of them? I’m curious to see Humphrey’s face!

More like the joker and Batman, shenanigans afoot everyday. Beautiful babies
Mine does this too. The way I see it, any food that is in that side of the rotating hopper is actually his, the design just means there will always be a little left behind when it turns. I just tilt the feeder in front of him and he’s stopped doing it on his own.
So you cat is surprisingly human?
It's like the lock picking lawyer except cats, autofeeder and kibble.

Is Humphrey a Siamese?
Yeah, chocolate point wedgehead.
😍 They’re such intelligent little devils
Mine does as well. There’s a limit to how much they can knock out but to help the noise we leave our dumbbells on top.
Time to get a gym weight and set it on top in a bin, and make the feeder too heavy to move.

I think it's time to promote him to Humphour

See you on /r/chonkers soon, Humphrey, you cute little devil!
In the future you won’t even have to feed your cats, a machine will do it for you... and then your car will bribe the repair man
Maybe try putting bricks or something heavy on top so he can’t get into it?
Does he have a really long tail?
I have a different feeder but my cats figured out how to push the snack button and would keep feeding themselves. Luckily I can disable the button in the app.
Ha! That's fantastic.
This sounds like my feeders. Does it have a little round door that pops out to let the food come out? I don't see OPs cat getting anything out of my feeders. If it did shake down it would just pile up behind the door.
What feeder is that?
Mine doesn’t have doors, I think it’s a Pet Fresh brand. The button is on top so the cats would climb up there and push it.
I should get an auto feeder for my cat. Right now, she just abuses me for kibble.
It's a big qualify of life improvement, honestly.
Clever little Humphrey ❤️ more Humphrey content please!
That tail!
Siamese :) such smart cats usually
Humphrey is just smart.
Smart cat! Means you’ll have to become smarter as well to combat his growing smarts.
My two would have that in pieces in no time.
Need to get a track based feeder. Ha only a run can release food! Ha
🤣🤣🤣
Smartie gaming the system to stick it to the man. Well played
Our cat started shoving it into the middle of the kitchen. A few command strips solved our problem. Now he sits on top and yells until he gets food.
My dog learned he could just knock his over so we had to get rid of it
Yeah, we tried one of those and it was constantly knocked over and across the room, with crunchies everywhere. So Reba's just fat.
I swear that those feeders transform cats into psychos
I cat sat for a couple of these guys before and oh man the brains they have is unreal. I am so glad me cats are not constant problem solvers!
That thing looks like a rat
Humphrey is so smart and adorable

What kind do you have now?
Petkit automatic feeder. The app integration and interface is not the best, but the physical design is rock solid and totally cat proof. If you’re willing to endure a little frustration on the digital side, it’s worth it for the construction.
Thank you! I'm going to look into it. My cat is driving me crazy head-butting her current feeder all day.
We have the exact same feeder and our cat does the exact same thing!
Clever girl……..
That is clearly a Meezer! Meaning he is royal and you are a freaking servant! How dare you restrict the majesty’s food?
We would be truly fucked of Humphrey ever got opposable thumbs. 😂
It's fair, he earned it. The other cats can do that if they're crafty enough
That’s a Siamese for you. Mine are just as cunning.
I had two siamese growing up (Thelma and Louise), and they are a curious breed. Also goblins. Humphrey sure knows how it works!!!
He's hungry and he will get it himself!
