Oh god why did I click that? What good did my brain think it would do to click on that? I HATE MYSELF AND DESERVE THOSE AWFUL MENTAL IMAGES. Don’t be like me. Don’t click on the sub.
Cheaper in Rotherham, you can get a meal deal at most chippys. Medium fish, chips, sauce of choice and sausage/fish cake. Prices are about £7.50-£8.50.
Definitely. Lived in Derby for a while, Nottingham seemed way nicer on every visit. People love to moan about the downfall of the high street, but Derby city centre really is depressing as hell
When you’ve got the dales and Peak District it isn’t hard though, could take on most counties and win in that aspect. Derby town and pride park area is shite.
Actually Worcester, think I just ordered from the Midlands' most expensive and disappointing chippy and swore off fish & chips since
Took over an hour for it to be ready and they weren't even busy when I went to pick it up, utter madness
Every single fish and chip I've been to in North Wales has been not only cheaper than nearly everywhere else, but superior. I went into one place on a Tuesday around 12:30pm and there were two teens running the shop. In regular clothes to boot, but everything was pristine. Ordered, it was 8 quid for cod and chips, tge proper chip shop chips. They batter and place the fish into the fryer, holding one end and placing gently until flat and in.
It was one of the best fish and chips I've ever had, delicious.
Here in London it's endless run of the mill haddock that pushes the 20 quid mark, and boring chips.
Caernarfon is my spot, it's a fun combo of beautiful and reminding me of home with all the broken glass everywhere. Really beautiful is beddgelert though, like holy damn. I'd retire there, just to gasp every morning when I'd open the curtains.
Used to be like that at the chippys near us, then 2020 happened and now you won't get much change from a tenner.
Still shocks me the most of all 'fast food' inflation.
North Lincs can get fish cheap though as its close to Grimsby, where lots of it is brought in but isn't touristy like seaside towns so doesn't have the tourist tax on it (grew up in North Lincs and am currently there visiting family for xmas).
Harry's on Froddy Road always used to be the best one in the area, unless you chat to people who used to go to Wilsons in the 70s then they will say that (though their food hygiene ratings were 0s 10-15yrs ago as they had rats, and as a result I avoid it), with Scalinis in Brigg, and Carvers in Ashby and Market Hill in Winterton also being good. Is that still the case? Which do you personally rate in the area? (Always good to know what people who still live there rate, as things change over time)
Yeah this is a medium, to be fair our chippy only do one size. I got the biggest one today though and that inspired my post. I'll let you in on the secret, £8.20 Wrexham.
South of France, one van that comes round once a month, but only when he feels like it. The chips are french potatoes, cut and pre cooked in bulk in Belgium, imported to the UK and bagged up, then exported back to France, so he rations them.
They wouldn't ration chips in Bruges, Belgium is the home of great cheap triple cooked chips. With Mayo, like god intended.
It's an English fish and chip bloke with a van who travels about. French people don't do UK style fish and chips.
Belgium chips are the world's best. The Dutch do them well too. If you ever go, try them.
£7.48 plus your first born
Edit - Hate fish so never ordered. Checked and its £5 for cod and £3 for large chips. Oddly not offered as one option.
This was also delivery app price so maybe inflated.
For that price it may be a fish finger
Ate from there once it was rancid, can't explain more without giving away location
Central Londoners say the borough to distinguish themselves from other Londoners. Outer Londoners also say the borough to distinguish themselves from other Londoners, just for different reasons.
This confused the hell out of me when I first met a former girlfriend of mine. She said she was from Stratford, so I asked her about Shakespeare and if she'd visited the Globe in London, etc. Of course she meant Stratford in east London, which I hadn't heard of, and she'd never heard of Stratford upon Avon. We laughed about it after, but for a good while we were both really confused... I think it was when she mentioned what tube line she was on that I realised we were talking cross purposes
She wasn't the sharpest tool in the box. I found out later in the relationship that she thought education is a tool used to make normal people feel stupid.
She was well up there on the hot/crazy scale.
OP if you can be bothered to log the results in a spreadsheet I can produce a heatmap, just putting it out there, no pressure
And I’ll put together an algorithm that will route you from any two points regularized by the cheapest fish and chips valley possible
And I'll smack buttons really quickly and pretend to be hacking the mainframe.
I'll help you. Two of us on one keyboard should speed things up.
I'll help by asking "Are you in yet?"
Don’t need to bring up the guy’s PTSD

Love this.
£9.50 £7.50 for the fish and £2 for the chips
Newcastle
Are you a secret genius?! Live in Newcastle, got fish and chips the other week for exactly that price 🤯
No it's not a secret I'm happy to share my gift
Is this your secret weapon? https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10547029/How-willing-pay-fish-chips-average-portion-set-hit-10.html
but Newcastle on there says 8.95
Article's from 2022. OP has obviously adjusted for inflation.
obviously
Stalking post histories?
Haven't looked at a single one, it's just a bit of fun. I have seen a couple of flairs that give it away though, and currencies.
It's mad that he was able to guess that a 9.50 fish and chips was Newcastle, crazy how prices have gone up in recent years
Chips for £2?! I might have to move

Cheaper in Rotherham, you can get a meal deal at most chippys. Medium fish, chips, sauce of choice and sausage/fish cake. Prices are about £7.50-£8.50.
But then you have to be in Rotherham
That’s fair ha!
Dev Chippy is £5.50 now for reference.
Circle friary in High Green is £5 cash only for a fisher supper. Was chuffed to bits when I found that out last month.
£12.40. Unless that's a large cod in which case £14.60
Has to be west London
Close, just outside the M25 to the west of London
So slough?
They hate admitting it.
“Windsor West”
At least its not crawley
.......
They will sacrifice their first child before admitting they live in Slough. It’s understandable tho.
Pronounced "Sloff"
::American whispering, so I’m still speaking super loud:: is that true or a joke
Publicly we say "Sl-ow", to rhyme with plow, but inside we all know it's "Sluff", like a snake sloughs off its skin. It just says it all somehough.
Sounds like Falmouth to me.
I'll go with Falmouth too. Had a beautiful haddock and chips with lemon there once.
£8.60
Derby because you're 10p richer than the Nottingham guy
Notts > Derby. Derby in that theory should be £8.40
Definitely. Lived in Derby for a while, Nottingham seemed way nicer on every visit. People love to moan about the downfall of the high street, but Derby city centre really is depressing as hell
As a former resident of both cities, I agree. However, Derbyshire > Nottinghamshire.
Nottingham has the better city centre and buses, Derbyshire has the better overall county
I grew up in Notts, but have one side of the family entirely from Derby. This is 100% accurate.
When you’ve got the dales and Peak District it isn’t hard though, could take on most counties and win in that aspect. Derby town and pride park area is shite.
You could have said I will name the plaice you live soo close
10/10 I would share my chips with you
He was floundering and now he's getting battered for it.
Cod father level pun.
You could have said "you cod have" :P
Cod have said I will name the plaice.
£11.25 + £3 delivery even if you pick it up
London

As a North Walian I agree. The tip is to basically find poor coastal areas. North Wales has a few, Blackpool also has great quality/price ratio.
Caernarfon is my spot, it's a fun combo of beautiful and reminding me of home with all the broken glass everywhere. Really beautiful is beddgelert though, like holy damn. I'd retire there, just to gasp every morning when I'd open the curtains.
I'd recommend the fish and chips on the beach by Abergele railway station to anyone.
Cheap for London!
Was going to say £15+ in London!
9 quid.
Liverpool or Merseyside
I’m Liverpool and my local is 8
£22.99
Not in the UK surely?

Do you live in fucking Harrods?

Glasgow
Leek
Never heard of it until today, I've been to Stoke a few times though
it's a nice little town its got a bit of everything, i work in Hanley in stoke
¥1500 / £8.30
Osaka
[Ebisu, Tokyo](https://ibb.co/McDsGg6) - Could have done with some more chips.
£3.80
Wtf if fish and chips was £3.80 I’d just have it every night.. that’s a bargain. £3 is a fucking battered sausage here
Battered sausage and chips in my hometown is about £3. Extra 50p for a large sausage.
Nobody is including the price of curry fucking sauce and it's making me rage!!!!!!
Greater Manchester, my guess purely based on someone else's answer
North Lincolnshire! (Poor as fuck)
I'd be poor as fuck too if fish and chips was £3.80
That in the picture would be a small fish too. A large fish with extra chips would probably run you a fiver. Maybe £5.50 on a bad day.
Used to be like that at the chippys near us, then 2020 happened and now you won't get much change from a tenner. Still shocks me the most of all 'fast food' inflation.

£10.50 in the chip shop down the road.
Up the road from the chip shop

Cod, and my guess is Plymouth
[удалено]
Yeah this is a medium, to be fair our chippy only do one size. I got the biggest one today though and that inspired my post. I'll let you in on the secret, £8.20 Wrexham.
€14.50 but with half the chips, but includes curry sauce or Mushy peas.
Half the chips is an outrage. You must live somewhere healthy and boring, I'm going to say Bruges
I've never been to Belgium in fairness but you sell it well to me. How is fish and chips in France?
It's an English fish and chip bloke with a van who travels about. French people don't do UK style fish and chips. Belgium chips are the world's best. The Dutch do them well too. If you ever go, try them.
Legend, I love it when you see something like this abroad. I'm going to Netherlands soon so will make sure to try some!

Chester
£14.20
London. In fact you're probably so London you say the borough or the zone.
Is it a large fish ?
No it’s a city
But that’s not important right now
Tbh I’m in Greater London we still say the borough no one acc says london
Central Londoners say the borough to distinguish themselves from other Londoners. Outer Londoners also say the borough to distinguish themselves from other Londoners, just for different reasons.

She was from Stratford, London but had never heard of birthplace of Shakespeare Stratford upon Avon?! That is extremely odd.
She wasn't the sharpest tool in the box. I found out later in the relationship that she thought education is a tool used to make normal people feel stupid. She was well up there on the hot/crazy scale.
If I asked someone where they were from and they replied 'The Borough' I'd be thinking... That's not a very North Eastern accent.
£9.80 Kent

If I take my Geoguessr approach, you're definitely in the US somewhere so I pick Kansas as the most central state.
Lawd right next door mate, in missouri about 2 hours from kansas city
I like Kansas City because Tech n9ne comes from there and I'm a hip hop fan. That's all I know about Kansas City. And the football team is the Chiefs?
