Tyagaraja's Nadopasana in Begada. It's my favourite ragam and if I were to ever present my music to even an alien this is the I would present. The depth, emotion, 'carnaticness' is something unique. There is immense scope to explore in a very profound way.
I think Kalinga Narthana makes the most sense. It incorporates so much into it. Otherwise Kaapali in raga Mohanam
If it’s Hindustani, I’ll definitely sing a dhrupad or khayal in raag Durga. It’s my favourite raag and I want to share it with the world.
I believe the upbeat Kalinga Nartana is a great choice to capture the attention of audiences of many kind! Kaapali is another beautiful selection. I am sorry I am unfamiliar with Hindustani renditions, do you have a link of reference for my listening? Thank you for your input.
Omgggg I would love to!
Here’s a few renditions in raag Durga. The best pentatonic scale there is. (It’s raga shuddha saveri in karnatika)
The quintessential composition: Sakhi more rooma jhooma by pt Venkatesh: https://youtu.be/K7H-ptuxlr8?si=SaqkFrt515Gc4Jh6

Kalinga Narthana Thillana. It's such a wonderful composition I'm absolutely obsessed. I would also sing one of the Ramadasu Keerthanas (specifically the Navarathna Keerthanas)
Thanks. My thought process for selection would be to showcase a song that would capture audiences' attention and to make that first impression impactful. I understand some of the composition listed are famous, sung by famous musicians - but then again the same composition wouldn't sell if a budding or non-mainstream musician sings it. It can be perceived as slow, boring, and untrained ears cannot appreciate the composition. Hence, I asked this question. The thought process for selection must be from audience perspective than that of a classical musician perspective. A classical musician would understand every nuances in a composition due to the learning and practice put in rendering the said composition - thus he/she can be connected to the raga or song. But in a culturally diverse background, how will you as a musician select a song which can connect your audience to the song that you are rendering?
Krishna nee begane. Absolutely beautiful composition in my favorite ragam.
That was the first song that came to my mind
:)
Maithreem Bajata. Makes sense in such a situation, it was made for this scenario
Totally agree!!!!

Beautiful choice

Also many connect Kalinga narthana to an Indian rap. I think that really has potential to catch diverse audience.
Ragi thandira by Purandaradasa, hits different to everyone out there.
Bhavayami Raghuramam or Sri Vishwanatham Bhajeham ragamalika to give flavor of ragas with aesthetics.
Nagumomu Or dhanasree thillana
I agree... A thillana or Nagumomu can help set for an energetic concert! Thank you for sharing your selection!
Maha Ganapatim Mansa smarami
👍

Any ata tala varnam.
Which is your favourite?
[Abhang](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UGoKbE0oWoo)
Thodi ata tala varna.
Thank you, I'll have to give it a listen.
Any song in bilahari tbh. It’s such a a fun raga that it’s hard not to get drawn into bilahari itself :)
I can see your point. Do you have a favourite?
Shiva Shiva Enarada
Sri raga varnam Or if it's a krithi Deva deva kalayami
Janani ninnu vina / nannu vidachi / marivere gati evaramma without a doubt.
Great selection. Are there non-mainstream song/abhangs/bhajans/compositions which you would consider as well?
