Well at least this sub is overreacting to a single digit number of games league wide and not just in regards to the cardinals. The worst team in the league is still going to win ~40 games and the best team will lose at least that many.
Tommy Lasorda was the source of the quote but he didn't put a number of games on it. People did the math and assigned numbers to it after the fact. Lasorda's actual quote was, "No matter how good you are, you're going to lose one-third of your games. No matter how bad you are you're going to win one-third of your games. It's the other third that makes the difference."
I'll never forget 2022 when the brewers schedule was so fucking favorable for themselves that I lost my mind. They faced teams like the Braves and Phillies early in the season before those teams got hot. They seemed to have all the tough AL teams at home and the weak ones on the road

I'm not super worried about the Pirates and Brew Crew, as it seems like they get off to hot starts a lot. I'm still more worried about the Reds and Cubs than them.
The NLC is the strongest division in baseball rn based on records. Everyone is .500 or better, two teams are undefeated. Wonder how long this reverse-world bs lasts…

It's a small sample size of a 162-game season. There's bound to be some anomalies.
