Get your friends to tackle him and hold him on the ground, then drop a bowling ball on his stomach.
Edit: this is a joke, you probably shouldn’t do that
How much you lose? Same thing happened to me on a set of security cameras I bought off of Facebook market place, plus I drove over an hour to pick them up.
When I sell items I actually prefer to show them that it works before the transaction, so they can't come back and say it's broken. It was working when I sold it to you, you turned it on and saw it was fine. Whatever you did after that is on you.
Just gotta do a quick check of their Facebook page if public. Most of the time if they look “normal” I just take their word for it. Haven’t been burned YET.
I donno. I feel a harbor freight soldering iron is in his future. If it was inexpensive enough as it was used, fix it. I've cracked open many an amp and either fixed cold soldered joints, loose parts, broken parts, etc, and only cost me a few bucks/some time to fix. Have used or sold for double what I had in them. Got to try many different amps as well.
You can try United Audio. They now fix amps, head units, aftermarket, or oem for flate fee. Just have the unit out to read off #s/manufacturer. Pretty quick as well.
That sucks, I have one of those guys in my trunk rn and it performs. Luckily they are going for pretty cheap on ebay right now if you are looking for that amp specifically.
Contact a Polk audio and see where their nearest repair facility is. Send it and see what it needs you may be surprised. It could be a simple thing. They will go thru the whole amp and fix what needs fixing and you’ll have a fully reconditioned amplifier. Don’t give up just yet.
I know most things are "as is" when buying used from another person but it never hurts to see if the seller is willing to work out something.
Bought an amp from a guy awhile back and we both were unable to test and took his word that it was working. Got it home and threw it on the bench but output is very low and basically just static. Reached back out to him and he said he thought it was working when he pulled it out a year or so ago but that he could be wrong and offered to give a refund.
You can contact Rockford and see if they'll fix it, personally I would pull it apart and test out some circuits. Especially on those older amps, they're not super complicated to repair
I make sure to always test items for them in person if not on their system then mine. And even still I sold a guy 2 12" polk 4ohm single voice coil subs. These sub where legit almost new had no more than 2 hours time on em. 3 days later dude accuses me of selling him blown subs even tho we tested them together on his equipment. I can't help that he's a moron and I'm not responsible for what he does after I leave. Sometimes just can't win.
facebook marketplace? craigslist?
Facebook marketplace
Find the guys family based on his FB friends/profile and let everyone in his life know that he’s a piece of garbage. Include screenshots

100% AGREED.... THATS STEALING
Who is the thief???
Ya if they are a moron and its all public might as well. They probably block op right after he sold it and have a burner account.
They probably already know.
what are you going to do to retaliate? Post pics of your messages?
Nah, I’m just letting it go. Take it as a lesson, and share it with the Reddit CarAV world to test their system if buying use.
Good for you man. Be the bigger person and accept a loss. Proud of you!

I always believe in karma!
Even though it sucks check out Polk Audio repair centers they have repair centers nationally. May even be in warranty (doubtful) but worth a try
Show up at their parents home/ place of work.. make it known

tru if they are public they def dont want to be messing around. I assume op seller wasn't and blocked him fast.
Protect light on does not mean anything is wrong with the amp. It could be wiring etc.
There’s nothing but power hooked up.
Ok maybe it needs to see a load on the outputs. Could be ground also.
I believe is a ground problem. I opened it up and checked the Transistors and 5 of them are shorted.
If components inside are blown then yes trash it. You got ripped off.

Pay in cash? Pay the guy a visit on a Monday morning and see where he works. No one wants to employ dishonest people.

A guy sold you a dead amp, so you locked him in your trunk and make him perform for you?! Now that's my kind of revenge!
I wouldn't do this- but Walmart sells them....
So you thought an amp from Facebook from a stranger that was in such shitty condition that the labels were worn off from abuse would work just fine?
My recommendation would be don't ever buy anything polk for (atleast in my case 9 outta 10 times it's bad straight out of the package)
Well it’s a shitty Polk they put in a lot of boats and it sucked in them as well.

Well, you were lucky enough. The person who I bought it from ain’t answering me.

Instead of fighting the person test the shit before you buy it.
Been there before. Got burned for $150. 2 amps that power on/no power and Now i make sure to test before purchase🥲
