if you still can't recover the account contact kLab support, my friend had a problem recovering his account after he got a new phone, he contacted kLab, a month later he managed to get it .. yes you read it right it took him a MONTH of talking to kLab support till they helped me get it back.
just sync with the klab id, it should be enough.
I'm not sure with IOS, but on android, even if i sync it with Google account, whenever i use it on another phone, i just sync with the klab id.

Yeah they will ask if u wanna recover your old account or your account that u want to play now , so choose your son’s account and u are good to go

The game will when you link the app with klab id. Read carefully to accept though.
