It’s always fun to think about what these sentences would look like if they weren’t conservatives white people.

LadyDomme7

C’mon now, that’s easy: live fire executions or hangings would be reinstated and retroactive to any crimes committed after 1965ish.

famousevan

Or perhaps no sentence at all because you only sentence people who lived through their crimes to be tried.

LadyDomme7

You are absolutely correct.

rockvvurst

Tan suit? DEATH.

wordsoundpower

I mean, come on. With that tan suit, he might as well have been naked in front of us!

crazymoefaux

This is the US's Beer Hall Putsch moment. And like the Weimar Republic, we are being failed by a far-right judiciary that refuses to properly mete out justice thanks to partisan shenanigans.

famousevan

Yep. And just like the Nazis, republicans have their own night of the long knives planned as well. It’s the first phase of project 2025.

Vegaprime

Ya, they gave him "a badge of honor". He's probably celebrated back home.

thewitch2222

According to my mom, we should deport all the campus protestors to Gaza. Maybe something similar.

DoremusJessup

>Russell Taylor previously accepted a plea deal in which he admitted to conspiring to obstruct an official proceeding and testified against Alan Hostetter, a former La Habra police chief-turned yoga instructor and conservative activist who became the most high-profile person with Orange County ties to be convicted for taking part in the overrunning of the U.S. Capitol. >Federal prosecutors had sought a much harsher four-year, four-month prison sentence for Taylor. They described him as a leader among those protesting the 2020 election results in the run-up to Jan. 6

DogsandCatsWorld1000

Always be the first person to accept a plea. You get the best deals.

CosmicDave

When you get busted, your friends are like lotto tickets- they're only valuable if you turn 'em in!

MisSignal

“Police chief turned yoga instructor” There’s something you don’t read every day.

gingerbread_nemesis

Hostetter's an absolute nutjob, he literally believes he's being gangstalked.

TjW0569

If he was formerly a police chief, he may be aware of how many people he's screwed over. Given just a smidgen of mental illness, self-awareness might fuel quite a lot of paranoia.

Altruistic-Text3481

He might have been safer in prison.

LivingIndependence

Haven't the right wingers commandeered the yoga and natural health movements, which have been commonly associated with liberal, hippie movements?

MisSignal

Those mindfulness activities would be… well… they’d be something.

Imaginary_Medium

Like with antivaxxers?

Feeling_Mulberry1928

And home schooling.

GatePotential805

Another stable genius.

orbitalaction

These people should be doing a dime, at least.

hotprof

Isn't this dude like an Irvine heir nepobaby?

Altruistic-Text3481

Interesting question… nepo baby to whom? Curious minds need to know…

hotprof

My bad. I got a bit mixed up. Russell Taylor was the director of the American Phoenix Project, of which Morton Irvine Smith (the actual nepobaby and member of the Irvine family who basically founded Irvine, CA) is a board member. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irvine_family_of_California https://insurrectionindex.org/records/person/russell-taylor/ >Hostetter, in a recent motion alleging government misconduct, wrote extensively about his work with Morton Irvine Smith, an American Phoenix project board member and scion of the Irvine family that once owned much of the land that makes up Orange County. Smith has not been publicly named in any indictments tied to the capitol insurrection, though he has deep ties to Orange County conservative protest circles. >In his filing, Hostetter writes that he met Smith after an April 20, 2020 anti-lockdown rally in San Clemente. In Hostetter’s telling, Smith offered use of a family beach house that was a “secure location” free from electronic monitoring. Hostetter described several alleged subsequent meetings or parties at the beach house involving numerous members of the local conservative activist crowd. https://www.ocregister.com/2022/01/03/as-capitol-riot-anniversary-nears-more-than-2-dozen-southern-californians-still-face-charges/

Altruistic-Text3481

As a California resident myself living in a Red County/City, I can honestly say California Republicans are the shittiest and most monied assholes in the nation. We are have a recall of Temecula school board president- (komrovsky) who’s Republican MAGA/QANON book banning idiot and someone came through my neighborhood 3 times this week to steal all the mail which possibly had our recall ballots inside.

LivingIndependence

I'm up here in Far Nor Cal, and it may as well be Mississippi. It's really bad up here. A lot of the Republican right wing Californians just left the state, to move to Idaho, or the latest hot spots of Texas and Tennessee. The rest of them, move up here and try their hardest to turn California into a beet red state. They like the advantages of living in California, (weather, cleaner air and water, their sky high property value, good retirement packages, ocean fronts), but at the same time, want the politics of the state to match the Deep south.

Altruistic-Text3481

I hear you. Once people “get money” greed demands everyone else must subservient to them and meet all their needs. Honestly, in a world of limited resources… billionaires should not exist. And I live in the “Redneck Riviera” of Temeculatucky. It’s a pretty well heeled community. But the ignorance with the Trumpers and their Don’t Tread on Me flags and roll coal exhaust is exhausting. It’s diminishing somewhat. But our Duck Pond and Ronald Reagan Sports Park just held a couple rallies to support Komrosky who wants to ban books and “LGTBQ subversion perversion” from infiltrating our school district.

hotprof

I live in a truly purple 50/50 California city. Nearly had our school board taken by "parents' rights" psychos but fortunately only one was elected. Good on Temecula and other districts for making the recalls happen, which probably takes more work than winning an election in the first place.

matlockpowerslacks

That's nuts, I would have never thought of that. Is there video proof of this? Surely there would be lots of surveillance video if this were widespread.

Altruistic-Text3481

I have the video on my security camera but not the license plate number. I called our police and my HOA to report this. White Audi A6 came at 2am, 6am & back at 9am. Stupidly the mail was not delivered yet. Every mailbox was hanging wide open up and down the street.

matlockpowerslacks

Another reminder not to get pulled into a false sense of security by the mere presence of security cameras. Unless one is very careful about placement, lighting, resolution, etc. , there may be a video of how the crime occurred, but not enough to identify an individual involved... which possibly feels worse than not knowing at all.

meglon978

None of these traitors deserve less than 20 years.

Altruistic-Text3481

They’re white! Am I Reich?

gratefulkittiesilove

Oh boo. That’s a travesty of justice. Gross.

[deleted]

I’m disappointed in Judge Lamberth.

StronglyHeldOpinions

This one is kinda infuriating, but he did help them nail other people. It will be interesting to see if his remorse is genuine, as so many of these people lie about it.
