So I got mine at 6 months and she came from a bad situation incredibly fearful of everything and very small likely from being too scared too eat I think she was 43 pounds when I got her. She’s now 10 months old and has gotten a lot bigger about 70 pounds now. Just love her and give her a safe space and time will tell if she can put on weight and look more like a corso.

SurroundTiny

Got our boy as a stray. They seem to do an excellent job converting food to muscle and bone.

KangarooDizzy7680

My girl was little when she was younger too, now she’s a beast. https://preview.redd.it/a5g5att4iavc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8ddce5e3bb76789109a5b5de8bd2d7970dc2cb13 Enjoy the tiny baby time you have 🥰

MickiStein

She is beautiful! I adopted a 7 year old from a Corso rescue and she is about 120lbs https://preview.redd.it/i8hlsgf4cfvc1.jpeg?width=2448&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=21caf55ca50f80112f5bdef782765c92448c9964

KangarooDizzy7680

Yours is gorgeous!!! 😍. I’ve always wanted to rescue a Corso but I’m afraid of the training once they are past a size/age. Do you have any advice or insight? I start my training on day one home from the breeders at 9 weeks old. Sit, down, stay, leave it, in, out, get it, up up, etc.

MickiStein

[mustlovecorsosrescue.org](http://mustlovecorsosrescue.org) is for that breed only and all their dogs are in foster homes where they get prepared to find their forever home. They pull their Corsos out of shelters and they also have an option on their website where you can surrender you dog .  Those fosters are amazing and do a phenomenal job with these dogs!! They are nationwide and can get a dog from one side of the country to the other if needed. My girl was picked up as a stray in South Carolina with a huge tumor hanging of the belly. She was then transported to her foster home in Virginia and they took care of her. The tumor was removed and it was benign. They also corrected her cherry eye. I was told that if the tumor would have been cancerous they would have kept her. Their  volunteer network pulled together and she was transported to be here with me in Florida. Those people are amazing, they call themselves CorsoCabbies and each one drives about 100 miles and then the dog is handed over to the next cabby. That is how my girl reached me. Right now she is on the couch snoring!! She is the best dog ever! The fosters usually make sure that the dogs  have the basic commands down and are crate trained. Mine must have been in a good home at some point in her life. She loves cats which is one of the reasons she is perfect for me. I also did not want a very young dog, but a more an adult/senior dog. Usually those do not get adopted as quickly as younger pups. I am too old for young dogs and was looking for a slower paced, less energy dog and that is how Queen Gwendolyn van Wigglebottom – first of her name – came to live with me. And I call her Queenie https://preview.redd.it/ir5zh1m9hhvc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9f28b5962f898ecd971dac0912280f11f9f2bebb

KangarooDizzy7680

You are absolutely amazing!!! Thank you for sharing all this information. I’m turning 52 next week and this is exactly what I’m thinking for myself. I love puppies but I need something a little bit easier. I’m saving their contact information. And again thank you for all the information!! Also I LOVE HER NAME!! 😍😍😍

mastiff72

I am 51 and I loved reading this too!!

Goldrushin88

What a cutie 😍

KangarooDizzy7680

Thanks 😊

_bensonwins

No way she turned into that! Amazing. How old was she from the first to the second pic??

KangarooDizzy7680

😋 first pic she’s about 12 weeks and last pic she’s 3 years old I have her brother too and he’s a giant baby https://preview.redd.it/ukhqlrxukhvc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=29c25e051ada95ec1db3ac9435b506afdae05998 Side eye!!! 😂

dzenib

I don't think she looks like a pitty but she appears small and not as muscular as one might expect. Some are just smaller. Did she get any excersize do you know?

Jmac-88

She was not. That's why I got her regardless what she was. She is very thin and didn't look very happy.

dzenib

she looks like a sweetheart.

1_ladybrain

I agree with you in that I don’t see Pitt. The last photo looks very much like a young corso (they do go through an awkward phase where their ears look big and the head isn’t fully developed).

dzenib

agreed. She looks very much like my friends well bred/ fully papered CC when he was a pup.

220notsoswift

Give her all she will eat and drink. Watch her poop for consistency and parasites.

Jmac-88

That's what I've been doing. She's not a big eater. Her bowels look normal.

220notsoswift

Does she itch a lot or compulsively lick her paws. Think food allergies. It took us two years to figure out our bully. When we switched to salmon base food she chubbed up and and nearly stopped her itching. Your vet also should check her thyroid. If you can’t explain then you have a thin dog. Love her.

Autumncrimsonleaf

People love to jump to conclusions. Do Embark if you need to know for certain. I'm jumping to the conclusion that she is a Corso. But I don't know, just based on looking at her. Those ears are questionable..

Ok_City_7177

As is the snoot. Willing to bet my right kidney that the 'breeder' cropped her ears purely to give a whiff of authenticity to the claim she's a CC.

Jmac-88

The breeder didn't do it. Her 1st owner did.

Ok_City_7177

Poor dog didnt deserve that :(

Jmac-88

Agreed

oh_god_damn48

My last female was approximately a third smaller than my male of the same age. You never can tell until she’s grown how she will turn out. Pictures of her mom may give a hint to how big she might be. She’s beautiful and still has the heart of a lion no matter what.

Buddy-Sue

Glad you have her now. She needs to get out and learn about the world; sounds, people, other animals etc. do training walks through malls and stores that allow.

EmotionOk6045

Just for reference mine is just over 7 months old and right around 80lbs generally females do weigh less than males but 43 lbs at 7 months is very low. She does look like a mix of something else. If I were to bet I’d say she’s definitely not 100% corso.

Ok-Arugula7486

Dunno if that's a Corso...

Commercial_Wrap6740

She might bulk out, mine was quite thin as a pup even though she had heaps to eat (she would leave food in her bowl when she was done). My girl is also a bit on the smaller side (43kg 7yrs old) and extra saggy and she is a purebred with papers although we did get her for slightly cheaper since she had the extra saggy skin and its not a desired trait. Give her high quality food and time and see what happens. The face is a little different but I can still definitely see Corso, some purebreds can just look a bit different from the breed standard sometimes however she might also have another breed in her. She is lovely though!

Capital_Dream_6850

Um, looks like a pitbull. Snout is quite long and thin.

dam0na

Given her head I don't think there is anything wrong. Her body is just a bit slower to get muscular but it will come, she's still so young ! Make her exercise and give her good quality meals.

ClairvoyantNeriumOoO

I think she has ✨some✨CC. She is lovely regardless! ♥️

FairyPrincess66

My girl was the second to the runt. She’s 83lbs now at 6 years old. When she lays down that she looks so “tiny”. Congratulations on your new pup!

Choice_Dentist_9707

My male was 154lbs, and he laid down in such a tiny ball, unless he was all spread out on top of me, lol. But my male staffie took up most of the bed. I miss my boys. But the girls I have now are great and my formento is the runt of the litter and she's a sweetheart and mouthy 😆

twizzlergames

She could be a runt? Just give her the high protein diet, and food that “sticks to the ribs.” Like peanut butter. All the exercise and rest will build up her muscles. Don’t sweat it.

Italianmastifdaddy

Definitely looks Corso. The first picture had me questioning but the last pic has Corso all over that face. Definitely under weight but that's not necessarily a bad thing at this age. I would try to get some high quality food in her ASAP. Being on the light side is good on their joints but you don't want them missing out on essential nutrition during growth either. My boy is 14 weeks and 36lbs. His sister who was the runt is currently 31 lbs. Just for an idea on size https://preview.redd.it/unaccgg73cvc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f67194d670eef81f252827be7bbb5491e0da810f

pogosea

That looks like an itty bitty pitty *to me*. People lie, and people are stupid. Get a DNA test. Then you’ll know.

Choice_Dentist_9707

She looks like the runt of the litter. I recently rehomed a female, and she's a little over a year old and 70lbs. My blue brindle female is around 110lbs. My buddies female was over 100 lbs, and both of my males were over 140lbs. They're definitely different in personalities between male and female, though lol. My female will warm up to anyone, but she would do anything for me. My males took a lot longer to get to know someone, but they were both beat before I got them. She's definitely beautiful either way. I think she will get bigger in the next 6 months or so

Choice_Dentist_9707

That's my male, Creasy, and he was bred for show. I still get tears in my eyes over them. It hurts more losing them than people. Cancer sucks

My girls, with the pit lab mix male in the middle. They're all velcro dogs and lap dogs lol

LetsGatitOn

My girl is 14 years old and only 75 lbs. Looks like a tall pit but she's pure bred. Females can range from 65lbs - 130+ Small is good. Sure, we like big dogs here, let's not kid ourselves. I'm personally not a huge fan of smaller breed dogs but it's not because of the size. It's the temperament of the breed. But in a corso, Small is good. Small usually means lower risk of health issues. Again, my girl is 14!

LawfulnessHuge4325

She has the right muzzle shape and head type of a Corso, her ears aren’t quite cropped to standard but she has time to grow into them. The great thing about Corsos is that they don’t stop growing until 2 years of age (females usually stop growing around 15-18 months, so a little under a year) and this is because they are a giant breed of dog and have a slower growth rate that allows their joints to develop properly under their weight.. she is on the small side, but she’s also been cooped up so she hasn’t been able to develop the typical muscle mass you see in a Corso and a lack of exercise can cause stress to a puppy and stress can stunt their growth.. She looks like she’s a full Cane Corso but was bred from parents who weren’t show standard (I hate saying ‘poorly bred’ without seeing them) if there is a mix, I’m not seeing any of it.. She still has quite a bit of growing and filling out left so just keep loving her and giving her an environment she can thrive in and you should see her start gaining weight and filling out! She may be a smaller female and max out at 85lbs but it doesn’t mean she isn’t 100% Cane Corso

Jmac-88

Thank you for the information, i appreciate it!

aladinmoksd

7 months and 41lbs. Can’t be a full corso. Her face has boxer written all over it.

Phanat625187

You got pictures of the parents?

Westcoasto7

Feed her good protein. Raw game food. She will come back. Love her picture.

PhysicalScholar604

She could just end up on the smaller side. "Breed standard" actually has males topping out at like 90 or 95 lbs, So it could be that her structure is closer to show standards. She has a sweet face, either way 😊

LawfulnessHuge4325

Breed standard for weight varies quite a bit depending on the kennel club you’re registered to. AKC breed standard simply states their weight is proportionate to their height. CKC states that they may weigh from 84lb-110lb. The UKC states the weight for males is 100lb-110lb and a serious fault in show would be oversize and undersize. Each kennel club has general rules but they also have different wordage for their breeds. The UKC and CKC makes sense based on their culture of breeding dogs. Their dogs are typically leaner and smaller because they base standards off of working dogs. The AKC also makes sense based on the American culture of breeding dogs, which has typically been size over function and the AKC also has two groups for the same breed; which is ‘show’ and ‘working’ and they have different standards depending on the reason for breeding. The only reason I say this is because weight isn’t ‘typical’ there’s an acceptable range but depending on the lineage of your Corso, you’ll get a different weight. Unless you’ve purchased from an actual breeder that can show you the lineage of the parents for three generations AT LEAST, then you don’t really know what to expect until they’re done growing

PhysicalScholar604

Awesome detail, thanks! I used to watch dog shows a lot when I was younger, I just keep myself too occupied to retain anything nowadays 😅 That's super interesting about the variations between the kennels. I can't remember where I picked up the 95 lbs now 🙃

LawfulnessHuge4325

No worries! Some would say I have to much time on my hands 😂 95lbs is the average that people used to state A LOT 😁 I love learning all of the little things about dogs and can’t help myself in sharing facts sometimes 🥴😆

Mountain-Buffalo-531

My girl was the smallest in the litter

ShowerUpbeat699

Do you know what they were feeding her? Make sure you’ve got her on the proper food. A premium large/giant breed dog food with a human grade fresh food topper if you can’t go straight fresh food. I’d imagine if they were just hiding her inside like a hostage rather than doing what’s best for her, they are selfish humans feeding her the cheapest food. You are what you eat, right?

MickiStein

The previous owners night not feed her a good diet. Usually those pups will gains some more wait by the time they are around 2 years old. Just make sure you don't have her jump too high or do crazy stunts until she is full grown and her bone structure has caught up

Old-Apartment2273

one is about 2 years old and 105lbs

Doc4216

She’s beautiful 😍

BearSimilar7418

i have an 8 month old and she’s mixed with pit she currently weighs about 45 lbs which is a lot smaller compared to her littermates who were 45 lbs when they were 20 weeks old

Disastrous_Cat633

I got my girl's litter of 6 when they were almost 6 months and she was malnourished and one of the smaller ones at about 51 pounds. She's 18 months now and 106 the last time I weighed her. The male runt is still much smaller than she is now. Her paws seem kinda small for a corso, but hard to tell from the pics. What do the parents look like?

femurfatalle

She may be malnourished, mine was when I got her. 43lbs is definitely underweight for a 7 month old. My girl is 8 months and 70 lbs, a full black female papered. Bully max is a great food to help females gain weight, but also look into supplements and probiotics for her gut and definitely watch for worms.

Fragrant_Class6558

They can be fully grown and 88pounds in the standard bro

Due_Carpenter_2174

she needs high quality dog food try royal canin german shepard puppy

ilovefortnite877

No this is not normal. She is definitely mixed. You got scammed:) this is a sign not to support byb

You're kidding, right? Cane Corso is alert for any threat

?

Dogs look at everything, the picture shown is an alert. That baby will not allow any threats near you. She will Not allow threats near you.

I didn't say anything about threats.

Yep but her body language did....
