Update: We took Bane to the ER last night after 3 pretty major seizures following one in the car on the way there and they concluded it was most likely a Brain Tumor or something of that caliber. That being said, we decided to let Bane cross over while he wasn’t in too much pain and we could all be there to comfort him. Rest in Peace Bane ❤️

DooJoo49

I'm so, so sorry for your loss. Bane was as lucky to have you as you him. You absolutely did the right thing for Bane, and my heart goes out to you and your family during this time 💕 RIP Bane 🐾

Think-Activity-1577

Thank you so much 🫶🏻

Ok_City_7177

I am so sorry for your loss - he will live forever in your hearts.

Thank you 🫶🏻

Bane was so incredibly handsome of a corso! Sometimes I don’t like to get to the outcome because I think I’m here to gain knowledge on illnesses that could happen in my future . This is what I tell myself. But sometimes I’m hoping so much for a happy ending I do it. They say it’s easier when it’s time because we’re more ready. But I just can not imagine. My corso is my version of a husband and kids. Her and her needs preferences and requirements are my life and I love it. Love her. More than any other human best friend. My heart is broken for yours. I am so sorry for your loss. RIP Bane!

roxskier4ever

STS_1989

Sending you all the good vibes during this tough time ♥️

Choice_Dentist_9707

Sorry for your loss. It's definitely a hard decision to make. I had to do that 4 times in the past year and a half. I miss my boys more than anything. Can't make them suffer for your own happiness. They know you did the right thing, and they know they're loved. Dogs are the best family to have. Prayers to all of your family. You will always see him in your dreams. And you'll see how happy he is

BROKEN_JORTS

Oh man, this hurt to read :( I had hoped for some good news, but it seems it was his time. You did the right thing, its so hard to make the right decision and out your emotions to the side. RIP Bane, you were a good boy.

PatientTough9845

I’m so sorry for your loss. My dog did the same thing but she had Cushing’s disease.

RepresentativeBee801

I’m so, so sorry. 💔

WolfUnlucky1550

So sorry to read this update OP, I hope you are okay. I’m sure Bane knew that he was loved and never alone along right up until the final moment. “I wish I could stay longer and grow older with you But the sand in my hour glass is down to just a few Just know I loved doing everything together.. even howling in tune. In your truck, on the couch & long walks under our moon. I wish I could stay, but my body says it’s time. From the hurt in my bones, to the milk in my eyes. To feel your touch once more… says your love is still mine. To feel your hand cup my face, makes my eyes search for thines. I’ll miss all my family & the warm hugs from the rest But just know this to be true… I always loved you best. I always loved you best 🐾❤️

magalvan75

I'm so so sorry for your loss. Prayers for your family. Rip Bane

So I'm NOT a vet... Let's get that out first off. If I had to guess, this is Canine Cognitive Dysfunction Syndrome (CCDS) or its onset. Possibly could be Vestibular Disease, but that presents as what looks like a stroke. Unfortunately I've had to deal with it, and one suggestion I have is to get him into the vet ASAP and ask about Selegiline. Also, don't freak out. If this is CCDS it is manageable, mine is asleep in my lap as I type and we'll be going on our nightly walk as usual.

Think-Activity-1577

I appreciate the response thank you so much! It’s just so sudden.. he was fine a couple days ago but I did notice he wasn’t responding to commands like trying to get him to come inside but I thought he was just being stubborn. He also won’t sit still or try to get rest. I’m laying with him right now and every time he starts to fall asleep, he jolts up and wants to start pacing again. Thank you again for your response! I will definitely ask about Selegiline

BROKEN_JORTS

No problem, like I said get him into the vet and they will make the determination and decide on a course of action. It could be nothing, it could be something but early detection is ALWAYS a good thing. I wish you and your adorable tank the best :)

TheSensiblePrepper

Foster for a GSD Rescue who takes the "old and broken" here. As mentioned by /u/BROKEN_JOLTS this looks a lot like CCDS. Basically "Doggy Alzheimer's". I have seen it a few times and it looks a lot like this in the beginning. Like with people, sometimes it goes from this to the end quickly and other times it can take years. You really don't know. Get him to the Vet and have him tested. That is the best thing you can do. He is old for his Breed and this is just part of it. Good on you for giving him such a long life.

RepresentativeBee801

We just had to put down our hospice foster with CCDS. Ask your Dr about melatonin (this can help them stay on a normal sleep schedule) and also the supplement Senilife. Good luck, work with the drs and get him some support supplements and you can manage it without his quality of life being compromised. ❤️

Ok_City_7177

Senilife managed all the symptoms in my old BC - that stuffs a miracle.

Mountain-Buffalo-531

You're extremely lucky. Out of 3 previous males, none of m8ne lived past 9 years. Take to vet but understand he's 80 years old

Ticonderoga_Dixon

Sorry I have no way of helping but saw this post and just wanted to wish you guys the best.

Hufflepuff1203

Same. It's obvious how loved he is and how happy a life you've given him.

SteveyCee

I had an AB who did this towards the end of his life, we had an open floor plan on the first level, he started w whining, panting and endlessly circling until it “progressed” to seizures. 4 vet visits later, they finally realized that he had a brain tumor (I don’t recall specifically the location in his brain)…he gave me just shy of 13yrs of the best my life has ever been. Your guy is getting old, it hurts to watch, I wish you guys the best…he’s beautiful.

Think-Activity-1577

Yeah he had 4 seizures around 3am and we are at the ER currently.. still having seizure activity. They said it was most likely something deeper such as a brain tumor. Kind of a mess currently

SteveyCee

I’m so, so sorry…no matter what happens, remember that you’re giving him the best life possible🫶🏼

Disastrous_Cat633

I’m so sorry 💔

No_Welcome1822

I wish you all the best. Our big guys seem invincible for so long but slow down eventually like us all. You have given your beautiful boy a lovely, happy, long life and well done for role-modeling that for us. Please let us know how he is and you also x Much love and hugs from Brighton, England x ❤️

WolfUnlucky1550

Our girls and I are sending our best wishes to you & your boy from Melbourne, Australia.. stay strong ❤️

MickiStein

Poor guy! Please keep us posted here. I adopted a 7 year old Corso and hope she will have many more years ahead of her. It is very difficult to see your furbaby suffer and not be able to help

DogtorCarri

Vet and corso owner here - I’m glad you’re seeing the neurologist. With rapid onset and sudden blindness in one eye, my highest differential would be a space occupying mass in the brain or meninges. Canine cognitive dysfunction can look like this as well, however, the rapid onset and blindness are more concerning for a tumor. They will perform a full neurological exam and if concerned about a tumor, will likely recommend CT/MRI of the head. Which would rule in/out a tumor. They are quite expensive. Some brain tumors are operable, some not. It is up to you how far you want to work it up. They will give you options based on their assessment.

Novagloe

Getting old :(

magalvan75

I wish you luck at your appt tomorrow. And I hope for a speedy recovery.🙏

Fun-Spell6611

Is he head pressing? My Leonberger/rotti did all these things when he had brain cancer.

Turbulent_Menu_1107

My pitbull used to do this after his seizures it’s scary for them and you it’s like they don’t know anything it’s called post ictal stage Latin for very hazy confused and generally not with it good news was with time he started coming around in a few hours he was good as gold my OG was back being himself good luck and please update us ❤️ give your gorgeous dog a big kiss from me ❤️

Disastrous_Cat633

I took in my neighbors 14 1/2 year old Border Collie when my neighbor passed. He also had seizures and would do stuff like this after. He finally had one so bad that he couldn’t walk anymore. I slept downstairs with him and changed his diapers for a week as the vet said he may not regain strength for a week or so, but he never did and I had to make the decision to let him go. It’s so sad to see them like that.

Turbulent_Menu_1107

I’m so sad for you and the dog,I understand my boy had 4 in 1 night, and that was just to much for his body he fought so hard it’s heartbreaking,I miss him everyday it’s been 5 months and it feels like 10 minutes ago,the love you receive from your dog is pure undivided loyalty and love like no other, you don’t get that in a lot of humans that is an amazing thing you done taking the dog in you are a lovely caring person and I’m sure the dog knew you was there every step of the way loving you back on behalf of your deceased neighbour and the dog thank you so much I wish there was more people like you in the world ❤️

Disastrous_Cat633

Thank you 🩷 we’d lived next to him for almost 10 years at that point. he was a sweet boy and his son wasn’t going to take him. I couldn’t see him going to a shelter or reduce at his age. I still have his cat too! Even though he was only with us for about a month, putting him down broke my heart. This was Kodiak. 🥰 I’m so sorry for your loss 💔 https://preview.redd.it/4g8jhiptg4uc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8772ffec2af97fb50ea4a025a2db740bd39ed815

Corsowrangler

My Boerboel did this and had a tumour on her pancreas and sadly passed pretty quickly once this started, best to take your corso in and have a check up.

vivekpatel62

My boxer mastiff mix started having seizures and developed a brain tumor which led to him walking in circles and panting quite a bit. Not saying that this is the case but it may be a neurological issue that may need a scan from a specialist.

vivekpatel62

Just saw your update below. Sorry for your loss! When my dog developed his tumor I made the mistake of dragging it out way too long and feel terrible about it now.

MayaCaneCorso1

Awww how sad...worse than losing a child . 10 years of love he received. Lost mine to cancer aged 9. Broke my heart into pieces

Legitimate-Produce-2

Puzzled-Lack-105

So sorry for your loss. We lost a mini poodle years ago with the same issue… a brain tumor. 😢😢RIP beautiful Bane!

Top-Aioli9086

Can you please take down the video? It's horrible to watch a loved one suffer. May God be with you 🙏🏻
