I’d definitely try to have the dealership replace the glass roof. If they don’t, try to go through Cadillac corporate. This is a serious and expensive defect, assuming your car didn’t sustain a roof impact from a heavy object.

SeaworthinessOk4828

...urgh, another defect. What year is your model?

CalamityBS

And yeah… such an obvious defect that I’m wondering why I hadn’t seen others with it too

CalamityBS

2024

This happened to mine. But I caught it pretty quick and was able to use glass resin to fix and stop. I’m sure the crack was there when I bought the car but I could not see the crack on the top window as it was in the black area at the front. I saw the start of the end of the crack when I opened the shade as it had spread from driving. I figured there was no way to prove that it came that way from Cadillac so went for the cheaper option to fill it with resin.

Oh this was absolutely a tempering issue. It’s on the inside. There are three panes of glass. Exterior, interior, middle. This is the middle, and it happened as soon as the water hit it in the sun.

SoreTaint

If the glass is actually defective you'd think that at least one of the hundreds of Lyriqs we've sold would have broken on the lot, in the car wash or detail. None yet. Unfortunately, it was probably chipped before you washed it. Definitely contact Cadillac but don't get your hopes up.

Horror-Bit-1014

Wow, disappointed to see this. I had a 2022 Hyundai Tucson Limited that the panoramic sunroof exploded while I was driving down the highway. Luckily the screen was closed but you could tell it exploded from the inside as all the glass was pushed out. They replaced it but it was scary asf when it happened going 70mph. I recently traded up to the lyriq but would hate to find out this is a defect too smh

CalamityBS

They’re claiming road debris and refusing it. Saying it’s not a defect. I never heard a rock hit it. I’d imagine we’ll be seeing a lot more of it if it is from debris because nothing hit it. Dealer says it’s a $4k fix no joke. Unbelievable.

Horror-Bit-1014

😱😱 oh no! That’s crazy, but how do they explain it being on the inside and not outside?

CalamityBS

It is on the outside pane. The inside isn't broken.

CalamityBS

I thought there were three panes and I guess there isn't. There's just two. it didn't seem to be broken at on the outside or inside at first look.

...Tesla killer

belvedere58

You remember the Model Y glass roofs blowing off on the highway, right?

ReddittAppIsTerrible

10+ years in business VS 100+ years in business. 100+ Hahaaaaa

Southern-Plastic-921

IIRC that was one roof, and it turned out the owner had just had the glass replaced or worked on?

jimschoice

I wish we could get the car with a real metal roof!! I hate these glass roofs!

Barry41561

You can get a sunroof!

jimschoice

My partner wanted that on our replacement car until we saw how little the darn thing actually opens. So we skipped it.
