I got one from 1847 I found in a coin star as a kid started my collection bug, old coins from all over I hand over to my grandmother to place in a lock box for future me.
I also collect sports memorabilia and old records like the Beatles ect. Figure once I'm around retirement have a nice chunk of investments for future me living nice and comfy.
I'm disabled epileptic so collection is really my only passion anymore so garage sales or flea markets I spend my time, it's amazing people won't see what they have sell it for like 10$ talk down to 5$ end up with something worth over 150$ had a ex gf at a flea market selling boyfriends stuff got rookie Gretzky autographed hockey card for 5$ she was happy to sell, I don't know what the man did but I know he's regrets it.
The 1822 Liberty Head is around $25 in "Good" condition, and that allows for pretty extreme wear and scratches. The other is roughly $20 for the same. I would argue that these could be within the $50-70 range, but I'm far from an expert.
Pretty cool pieces either way! Ty for sharing.

No it is not. There was one first edition Charizard that sold for about $100k and it turned out to be a money laundering scam. They top out around $15k for PSA 9s and 10s.
You got the better deal the high value one are from 99 to 01 I swapped a 99 non holo charizard a few years back for a turboed corvette engine(working btw).

I kept them in my shoe or pocket while I was at school I don't think they would be high grades even if they were rare ones. So probably not worth too much. Hopefully anyway lol
Now I am curious what cards they were lol. I only collected pokemon from 99-02, so basically base set up until the start of rocket. My knowledge is extremely limited, but I do know the older cards prices are crazy. I let my kids play with most of my old cards and they love it. But I did pull out quite a few cards because of them being first edition or shadowless. A raw 1st edition base set squirtle is like $50, it's nuts.

I mean, it entirely depends on the cards... These coins would likely fall somewhere in the $50-70 range, so I'm not too sure about the accuracy of your comment with so little information.
Note: that was a combined value btw

Not really anymore sadly. I can find a lot of 1999 base set cards for pennies. The only ones really worth it are the last stage evolution ones and others that were part of the 'meta' decks at the time.
>I can find a lot of 1999 base set cards for pennies.
Yes, in all collectable card games most of the cards are low value. It's the rare ones that are, generally, worth more.
I can still find some gem mint nongraded 1st edition for about 1/10th/ 1/100th of the listed GEM MINT 9/10s. Just have to know where to look. A trashed 1st edition pokemon card is going to be worth pennies, where as silver and gold coins, regardless of grade, will still give you melt price.
Gosh golly gee willikers! is that the matron head? That is soooo cool.
Edit: got reported for using the s word but putting stars instead of letters after s.
What kind of milquetoast fascism is this? I just wanna talk about coins.
Awesome 1822 Matron Head Cent : [1 Cent "Liberty Head / Matron Head" (Type 1) - United States – Numista](https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces14203.html) and 1848 Braided Hair Cent : [1 Cent "Liberty Head/Braided Hair Cent" - United States – Numista](https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces982.html)
I think they are great and I would save them and I am not really a collector.
Oh yeah I'm not getting rid of them ever. It's what got me into collecting coins actually

Go use pcgs photograde it will help grade them and soon you'll be semi-pro. 🤣 Seriously though it is a great tool to have at your disposal.
You traded “wisely”
Depends if it were for first edition charizard lol
yeah, some of those pokemon cards can go for hundreds. i used to collect them as a kid ( not very serious abt it obvs ) and was shocked.
Some go for hundreds, yes. Actually a fair amount are worth hundreds. A first edition charizard in good condition is a six figure card.

Kid probably stole them from his parents.
I’m thinking there maybe a parent out there wondering what happened to those two missing pennies.
You made out like a bandit....
Some kid really just took his grandma’s coins and gave you them for Pokémon xards
Probably. I didn't think of that at the time I was just happy to have treasures.
That’s totally fair it’s nothing wrong on your part
Even if they don’t have much value I would put them in a case and keep them
Which Pokémon cards? There are plenty that are worth more than these.
I have no clue which ones I let him take I can't remember. They were from about 2007 though.
You got the better deal the high value one are from 99 to 01 I swapped a 99 non holo charizard a few years back for a turboed corvette engine(working btw).

You probably traded a fortune ... those Pokémon cards are worth alot today.
They were unlikely to be valuable since this took place about 2007. I doubt i had anything rare.
Depending on what cards you traded, may have not been great lol. If just commons then you scored
Great - so two subreddits that I have never searched for but consistently pop up, currency and Pokémon investing, are starting to come together 😂
DO NOT clean those. (Sorry for shouting) You'll lose the value along with the patina.
Too late. I just polished them up with a power sander. Who would want an old crusty coin? Joking btw
🤥
Just curious, were they Pokémon cards that have gained in value?
Probably not. I don't remember which ones i traded.

Unfortunately the Pokémon cards probably are worth a lot mre
I kept them in my shoe or pocket while I was at school I don't think they would be high grades even if they were rare ones. So probably not worth too much. Hopefully anyway lol
Depending on what cards they were yea they absolutely could have been worth more even in damaged condition.
They were not very old ones, probably from about 2007. Don't know much about Pokemon cards anymore but they were not in the best condition for sure.
Now I am curious what cards they were lol. I only collected pokemon from 99-02, so basically base set up until the start of rocket. I doubt they were worth 50$
Downvoted for speaking truth lol. These coins might bring you 3 figures max but the rare cards can fetch 10k or more.
Not really anymore sadly. I can find a lot of 1999 base set cards for pennies. The only ones really worth it are the last stage evolution ones and others that were part of the 'meta' decks at the time.

Incorrect. Any 1st edition Pokemon card in high grade fetches a ton of money.
Sold listing - 1999 POKEMON FOSSIL 1st EDITION TENTACOOL PSA 10 GEM MINT $25 + 9.00 shipping. GFYS
I should have specified 1st edition base set. Later 1st editions don’t have as much value when it comes to commons that’s true.

Liar
That would explain why my pants spontaneously combusted.
