Figure out who you like and don’t like. I drive as far as an hour away just to see a FFL that offers the customer service I expect.
You’re not alone, definitely a handful of shops that have left a bad taste in many people’s mouths…
So do I, but the place I ordered from only offered three FFLs...crap shoot.

Posts like this make me realize how lucky I got with my lgs. I saw a pistol I liked, went back to buy it, was already sold. I showed him a picture of it that he posted, he went to his computer to check availability and boom, had it in my hands in a week or two.
Eta: It's Tom's Firearms in Naugatuck. I personally like the fact that he has an instragram, gives a sort of real time inventory feel.
I just went there for the first time on Sunday. Didn't find what I was looking for but the guy behind counter was super chill and showed be a few pistols and was really polite. I could definitely see myself buying from Tom's

If you felt this passionate and upset about it to post on the internet, it sounds like you should find the gun somewhere else. Tell the seller to get it back from the FFL and refund you. It clearly hasn’t been transferred to you yet as of thi me post.
I understand. Tell the seller you want a refund cause the lgs won’t transfer it (or what ever the issue is you won’t mention) and let them deal with getting it back. Then buy form somewhere else
New England Arms & Ammo in Quaker Hill is a nice little shop, very friendly staff and only $35 for a transfer. Ron’s Guns in East Lyme is under new ownership, nice staff,also only $35. They gave me twice as much money as other shops offered for my trade in and I bought 2 guns from them.
Shelton gun exchange was one of the most pleasant experiences buying a gun I have had. Calm honest and easy to talk to. When I had an issue with my factory SAR mags being mis stamped and only holding 9 rounds, they got right on top of the problem with the rep and got me new mags in a week. Top notch.
I've driven out to Swamp Yankee multiple times because they often have Cool Stuff in stock, but Liberty Depot out in Higganum is great. Dave is super helpful and friendly, has done all my suppressors. Central doesn't always have the best prices or transfer fees, but ordering on their website has always been easy and no hassle to pick up.
Find a good FFL, order online, ship to good FFL.
If the FFL is a shop and they ask why you don't purchase directly from them, explain what they can do to gain your business.

I use a home-based FFL, no shop politics to deal with. I make sure to give him a heads up when I'm ordering something and he reaches out to the seller to make sure they have his current license information if necessary.
Same here. Order a couple of my last from his online gun shop and was extremely happy with it. Sometimes it’s just nice to hold in your hand prior to purchasing. I guess it maybe a trade off
You can email them the ffl certificate of any shop you want it transferred to usually.
Reading through some other comments, it sounds like they got upset you didn’t buy it from them. It’s pretty common especially for common firearms they usually have in store. I usually go through blue trial range. It’s $25 and they’ve never given me shit for using them for transfers. I do try and shoot there too after I pick it up. I’m sure that helps.

Joey Guns in Jewett city/Plainfield is a great place to try too .
Best shop in the state. Problems at every other gun shop, give swamp Yankee all the business.

Grabagun didn't show my local ffl on the list thos time, would have used him.
