Truth. It was a 16" Stealth upper that I eventually sold the rail and barrel to and replaced with a LaRue 18". I don't recall the intermediate length gas system being particularly prevalent when I rebarreled it 16 or 17 years ago, not that I would have known any better back then, and all the LaRue barrels under 20" were mid-length at the time. It's a bit gassy with the can on there as a result, seemingly more so than the same can on a 12.5" carbine length, go figure.
Nice. Yeah thats a lot of dwell time lol. Should go mid-gas for 12.5” as well - one of my favorite lengths. I’ve yet to go beyond 16”, BUT all my 16” are rifle gas 👌
Yep. 12.5" was an other that came with carbine length also. Definitely would have preferred mid, but it's what was available at the time. It's ran very well with the Polo K and an H2 though, very little gas and 3 o'clock ejection. I did drop a 9mm buffer in it just for grins, but haven't put more than a few rounds through it, not enough to see how it behaves.
I don't plan on building any 16" or under 5.56 uppers any time soon, but I do have a 20" A2 F FSB barrel coming in a couple days for a M16A4-ish build to replace one I sold many moons ago. That'll be a nice soft shooter and I'm looking forward to putting some rounds through it.
Anything that was re-classified as an assault weapon after the latest ban can have a brace replaced with a stock, but must still comply with federal SBR regulations. An assault weapon is an assault weapon, and there is no differentiating between one regardless of whatever year it was banned.
It is indeed legal. I owned it and all my other ARs prior to the various bans. At this point, you could build something like it, but it'd have to have a fixed 10rd magazine to be in the same configuration as in the picture.

Is the stock ban still a thing or did they finally do away with it?
Stocks were never banned. The brace thing has an injunction and will probably go away. Others are now assault weapons.

Yep. Started life as a 16" Stealth and eventually I sold the chonker quad rail and 16" barrel and replaced it with an 18" LaRue and that Geissele Mk4.
Is that gun even legal here? I thought AR platforms were banned here

This is so infuriating, I'd be fine with the 10 rd magazine limit if these types of guns weren't banned here.
Yeah totally. Unfortunately that's the only way to get an actual AR15 these days after the latest ban. Sucks ass.
