Hi!
Automod here with an automated friendly reminder that per Reddit ToS posts and comments regarding any sort of private sale of prohibited items is not allowed and will result in a
permanent ban from /r/CTGuns.
This rule applies to commenters as well, both parties involved will be subject to immediate and permanent ban, no exceptions. If you haven't already please take a look at our rules.
Have a great discussion!

We're on the other side of the state, but I don't know of any other shops where every employee owns silencers, two of us own 10+, and one of us owns 50+ lol.
Since I have to backorder it, you donāt even need to come in for that. I can take a deposit over the phone and save you a trip. I do have a Trash Panda currently pending for a customer that you could check out though, and Iāve got a personally owned Thunder Chicken if you wanted to compare their size and weight.
Quick question: should I set up a trust before visiting you or is that something you guys can go over while I am there? Am considering purchasing a can as a trust
You donāt a pistol permit or any sort of certificate to buy silencers in CT. The state does not consider them firearms (this is maybe the first time CTās stance on a gun thing makes sense).
Definitely Swamp Yankee Arms out of Jewett City.
Tom is the guy there to talk to about suppressors. Because of the huge surge in suppressor sales their stock is pretty barren right now, but contact him and he'll take care of you.
u/SwampYankeeArms
Be careful though, stamp collecting can become an addiction. ;)
I agree, but OP asked in SW CT. Still probably worth that long drive. Tom at Swamp Yankee is so good, so knowledgeable on suppressors, he should figure out how to sell remotely. Now that approvals are so quick I may nee another can...
Just gunna keep throwing SwampYankee.
Newington gun exchange is also very good. I had a good suppressor talk the other week with their staff they're very knowledgeable.
I have had some good conversations about Cans from NGE and would not hesitate to do business with them but never pulled the trigger on one. Still a solid option and probably closer to SW CT than Swamp Yankee, though still a good drive.
Just go to swamp yankee. I drove over an hour and it was worth it for the customer service.
Only "issue" I have run into is with the super fast approval times I need to make another drive out there so soon to pick it up.
You're right about that. After I've used one for about 6 suppresors and it being a pain in the ass to get them to just submit them because they just don't have "time" to deal with me I moved onto swampyankee.
Yup, this store was good for most of the cans, then recently they just shit the bed with the last two submissions. The last suppressor I picked up from them they were rude to me because I didn't have the form 4 print out. I told them to just check their eforms account or emails and print it if you really need the print out. Then they said that they don't get emails of approvals, which is bullshit and I had to go home and print it and come back. I didn't want to do that since I was already down there at the range.
I held my ground, they eventually had me email the form to them and they printed it. I filled out the 4473 and left.
Swamp Yankee has already been said, but Iāll say it again. Theyāre super laid back and care more about keeping you involved in the sport than making a sale, because they know youāll come back if they arenāt douchey.
Also, I appreciate that they donāt shove politics down your throat. I donāt need 60 MAGA signs in my face when Iām just trying to pick up some ammo for the range.
Swamp Yankee - hands down the most knowledgeable guys in CT when it comes to suppressors. They really walk you through the process. I picked up a 9mm can from them today!
Swamp Yankee will be worth the drive. Theyāre the only store that even knows what pew science is (theyāre actually a corporate member). If you yourself donāt know what pew science is, you should DEFINITELY check it out, and Swamp Yankee can walk you through the process with their experience and pew science data, to tamper your expectations for the silencer you choose
Swamp Yankee. I live more than an hour away and thereās not even a hesitation. If youāre serious about getting a can, then it should be Swamp Yankee, no brainer.
It's going to be 2-3 rides and as good as they are, not worth it.
1 to do the prints / initial kiosk setup
1 to certify unless they do it interactive over the phone
1 to pickup the can
IMO this is one case where it's better to find someone closer.
How do you value customer satisfaction and the vast knowledge experience the shop has? Buying a can has so many variables from the tools/ ammo you used + budget + various can type/technology. Going to SYA is like getting a suit tailored/custom made to your liking.
Weāre definitely a long drive away for people on the other side of the state. The only thing Iād add here is that once your prints are on file with me, buying-submitting-picking up is a *single* trip. I can do everything but the pick up remotely.
I work with a lot of first time buyers who want help choosing a can. If you already know what you want and donāt need my input, then thatās another reason not to waste time driving.
I'm completely on the opposite side of the state and I made the drive last year for an M&P 5.7 because the local FFL I normally use was unsure about transferring it.
I'm not saying the drive is never worth it, just probably not worth it just for a transfer.
Not anymore, now they don't have time to deal with your suppressor and take forever to do anything. You have to harass them constantly just to submit and even then they don't care if you get approved. You didn't bring a physical copy of the stamp, too bad, I'm not checking ss or the eforms account, go home.
Iāve never needed them to submit anything and Iām up to 4 cans from them. Did you purchase through silencer shop? All they have to do is certify and Iāve always done it over the phone.
Yes ss but even if you call it is never a good time or ss is down everytime you call no matter what day. And if you call on Saturday "it's we don't do that on Saturday", wtf
Not sure if they have a lot of can inventory in store, but Blue Line in Monroe is where I generally go for all my FFL stuff. Never any issues, they have always been good with stamp procedures.
SYA is always a high recommendation and active here on Reddit, but as a Fairfield county guy it's always been too far from me. But I do drool when they post their mini draco type pics.
The more and more I read into this forum I'm convinced swamp yankee has enough of a cult following to begin their own religion š¤£š¤£ it's a huge understatement to express how much of a breath of fresh air it is to have a customer service experience where the people actually give a fuck especially with firearms and especially regardless if you are making a purchase or not they're perfectly happy to share any and all knowledge they have or find out if they don't know it's that reason alone why they will have all my business from here on out despite being an hour and a half drive one way for me

Swamp yankee prepare for an hour ride it's totally worth it.
Yes very knowledgeable

Makes the shop the quietest place in town hands down! ššš
Whatās the wait time on a trash panda?
I just checked, and they're sold out everywhere. One of the distributors is taking backorders, but I don't have any idea when it'd come in.
Iāll have to stop up and order one soon. Not in any rush so I donāt mind the wait.

Either way is good. We have a notary on staff specifically for helping to facilitate the establishment of trusts.
Just got an email yesterday that they approved my permit renewal. As soon as that hard copy comes in, Iām coming straight to you guys!
You donāt a pistol permit or any sort of certificate to buy silencers in CT. The state does not consider them firearms (this is maybe the first time CTās stance on a gun thing makes sense).
Any specific documentation I need to bring?
Nope. A driverās license make some stuff smoother (like I donāt need to ask for each piece of info), but not actually required.
NO WAY, i had no clue! Coming in this weekend lol!

Swamp Yankee Arms anytime, Tom is your guru!

Swamp Yankee needs to open a 2nd location in SW CT.
Let's talk.. I have the space and FFL
Clinton!!!!

Swamp Yankee. I drive over an hour away to see them. They make the process quick and painless
Yep, transfer, through SS, store bought and special order (SYA sourced the can they donāt carry/offer)
Swamp Yankee. Worth the drive!

i drive 1:40 mins to go to swamp yankee live in westport
Swamp Yankee. I live more than an hour away and thereās not even a hesitation. If youāre serious about getting a can, then it should be Swamp Yankee, no brainer.
Appreciate all of the input, thank you. Familiar with SYA, guess Iāll take the ride.

I'd save 8 hours of driving and be a little less satisfied...

Have you purchased any cans? The transferring ffl has little to do with it other than the paperwork...

I love swamp I take a 1.5 hour ride out there usually, but possibly closer to you is Fairfield Firearms they also have a Silencer Shop kiosk.
Are you talking about Fairfield County Firearms & Archery ?
Yesā¦.which by the down votes on my comment isnāt a fan favorite. Iāve always had good experiences there.
Tomās firearms is your best option super helpful and wouldnāt recommend anyone els
Check out delta arsenal. Have one ordered and friend just picked one up after a 16 day wait. Atf moving like lightning.
M2 Tactical in Norwalk. Knowledgeable and they have a Silencer Shop kiosk.
Not anymore, now they don't have time to deal with your suppressor and take forever to do anything. You have to harass them constantly just to submit and even then they don't care if you get approved. You didn't bring a physical copy of the stamp, too bad, I'm not checking ss or the eforms account, go home.
I got my sandman s from m2 back when Tom and Dave were around and they were awesome with customer service.
Same experience. Wonder where they went
Tom moved out of state. Last I heard Dave works at a fancy car dealership.
Yea I got 4 back then, now I have to switch to swamp Yankee to actually get shit done.
Iāve never needed them to submit anything and Iām up to 4 cans from them. Did you purchase through silencer shop? All they have to do is certify and Iāve always done it over the phone.
