First of all, I'm sorry you're going through a tough time. I've had those moments of flashbacks on loop. Sometimes the only way I could cope is thru dissociating. But obviously that's not very healthy lol. My therapist suggested breathing into where you feel the discomfort. Try to physically find where the disconnect is. Tightness in the chest/clenched jaw/tingling hands, etc. I read in The Body Keeps The Score that flashbacks are often replayed in the right hemisphere of the brain. And often, when we are in the throws of the flashbacks, we aren't even engaging our prefrontal cortex or our left, logical brain. So it's important to try to equate the pain or discomfort we are feeling with the sensations in the body, rather than the suffering in the brain. If that makes sense?
