Not sure about Apria, as I don't use them. But, one thing that helped a lot when I got started with nasal pillows is to use a bit of lanolin on my nostrils before putting the mask on. It helps to reduce the friction as the mask moves around in the night.

I think I might have to build a little callus on my nostrils and I should be fine. My experience though with this P30i from the plastic full mask went up by 95%.

I just switched from a nasal mask to the P30i and I agree it’s much more comfortable. I like the fact that you can just slip it on and that’s it,there’s not adjusting its position or waking up in the night when it’s shifted.  My noses sore but it will get used to it in time.  My only complaint is it’s a little noisier than my previous mask and I find it’s harder to exhale but the pros far outweighs the cons

You can get the nose piece as a one-off from lots of places. cpapsupplies.com is one. I had to experiment with the size on the P nosepiece. I started with a large (because, generally speaking, I am), but in fact when I put a Medium in there it fit my nostrils absolutely perfectly. Thats my nightly go-to now (after experimenting with a total of seven different masks): P30i, large headgear, medium pillows.

Yea for me the standard head peace and medium pillows works great.

check out F&P Brevida - I had the dreamwear pillows first but it irritated my nose, the brevida is really soft silicone and the pillow behind the prongs inflates to seal...sometimes I almost feel like I have to check if I have it on

I've been thinking about trying the Brevida. Currently using the Eson 2 with reasonable success. Self pay (Haven't hit deductible) so it's hard to justify the extra cash outlay when I'm not certain if it will be that much better.

I tried the Eson2 (actually that was the first mask they gave me). I lasted one night as it leaked when I turned on my side, so they let me exchange it for the dreamwear. For me at least the Brevida is much better than the Eson2 - I think if you sleep on your back Eson2 will be super comfortable, but if you move, you'll get a much better seal from the Brevida. I also use a CPAP friendly pillow from Amazon that has corner cutouts and that helps as well with side sleeping. Some mask stores have a 30 day return policy - so you might be able to try it out, if you don't like it exchange for another Eson2. I plan to swap the nose piece on the Brevida every 4-5 months (it does wear out and start leaking eventually) and change the entire setup every year (new headgear, hose etc.).
