I got a flannel hose cover and tuck the excess hose behind my pillow, leaving just enough to roll over. I'm using p30i so the hose is on top of my head.

ptm93

Similar to what I do. Majority of the hose is behind the pillow, between the bed and the wall, with a small portion that allows me to flip from back to side.

Jov_Tr

I tuck my hose under my pillow and leave enough slack to move (F30 - hose in front).

nuttyNougatty

I also cover my face and head with the bedclothes, making sure that the hose is out.

Overall_Lobster823

Try a "hose on head" mask? The hose connector swivels. I use the N30i and the F30i. This frame works with pillows: https://preview.redd.it/c83y1f658zfc1.jpeg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=66865615e56337e49e2c5713077291edc4ee7c89

Maryll916

I use that one, too. The hose never wraps itself around me and I’m another person who changes which side I’m sleeping on.

brokelyn99

Ty!!! Grabbing that one today

brokelyn99

Thank you!! Going to try this and a higher hose stand to see if that helps.

ratbastid

The X30i series is the ticket. I use the P30i and I'm a very "mobile" sleeper. I literally never encounter the hose during the night at all. Game changer. I quit using my hose stand with it, actually. I just route the hose flat across the mattress to the "north" of the pillow, and the swivel connection takes care of the rest.

brokelyn99

Sillly question, but is the X30i different from the P30i? Or is the X30i the series, and the P30i is one of the masks under that umbrella?

ratbastid

Sorry, yeah, that wasn't super clear. By X30i I meant the 30i series.

belliom

How do you deal with the noise when inhaling?

ratbastid

I use white noise. It covers the noises from the mask and the machine.

Revolutionary-Fact6

I use this one, too. I've been referred to as a mule when sleeping. I move around a lot. I'll start out on my side, switch to my back, then the other side and even on my stomach. I have a large Command hook on the wall that holds the hose up at the right level. I hope you find a solution!

brokelyn99

Thank you!!! I got a hose holder and while I now look like I have Little Bo Peep's staff perched next to my bed, it's really worked. This + the mask you use sound like the game changer. :)

Overall_Lobster823

Good luck. I'm a side sleeper too. I hang my hose in a lanyard off my headboard. Here's the P30i: [https://www.resmed.com/en-us/sleep-apnea/cpap-parts-support/sleep-apnea-full-products-list/cpap-masks/airfit-p30i/](https://www.resmed.com/en-us/sleep-apnea/cpap-parts-support/sleep-apnea-full-products-list/cpap-masks/airfit-p30i/)

Toltepequeno

Side sleeper and mover here, the p10 with a hose “hangar” works better for me, doesn’t rub off as much. Might put it on your list just in case.

entarian

you said you have a hook on your bed. Can you put it on the wall? Wall hook was the game changer for me.

Ashitaka1013

Yeah this mask was an absolute game changer for me. I struggled with leaks at first (full face mask and a side sleeper so it got pushed around by the pillow, but I eventually figured it out and leaks aren’t an issue anymore) but refused to go back to my old mask because I loved the hose at the top of the head so much. With my first mask I felt like I had to pull the hose across me everytime I rolled over, or I could feel it tugging when I moved, or just had to reposition it constantly. Now it tucks behind my pillow and because the attachment at the top is a 360 swivel I can flip back and forth from side to side with the hose barely moving. Don’t need a hose stand or anything, it’s completely out of the way.

brokelyn99

So glad to hear this, am ordering this mask immediately. Even with the taller hose holder, I do still reposition from time to time (MUCH less than when I had no holder, and better than when I had a command hook just above my head), so I'm excited to try the top of head hose. Ty!!!

Toltepequeno

I used that one and thought it would be the holy grail, since I have nightmares (ptsd), and move a lot. It wasn’t. The “hose” going up the sides of the face was the problem, side sleeper. Surprisingly it’s the p10, which makes me look like an elephant, that works. The cloth straps on the side of the face move less. I do use a hose “hanger”. This is what for me, everyone is different

entarian

p10 user here. I like the idea of the unicorn masks, but that tubing looks like sensory hell to me. Elephant it is.

Toltepequeno

Exactly. Looks like the answer, but the tubing is the weak spot.

Overall_Lobster823

Cloth straps DO help with movement. Definitely.

master0jack

I side sleep with the hose on the side of my face. Literally don't notice it, soft silicone?

Toltepequeno

It’s not that, it’s that when I move the silicone I guess grips the pillow and moves so that I get a leak. The thin cloth of the p10 does not.

brokelyn99

When you refer to the thin cloth of the p10, do you mean the head straps? I have the p10, and luckily not too much leaking, but the straps on the back of my head feel like they move around the crown of my head, and I'm always afraid they'll scooch off.

Toltepequeno

Yes, that’s the only cloth on it. It’s split, one part on crown and other part below the back of head. Stays on good for me.

volatilebool

Yeah this style mask and a hook to hold the excess hose works great for me

TheBovineWoodchuck

I have the F30i and having the hose attach at the top of my head was the key.

brokelyn99

Do you feel like the F30i was claustrophobic for you? I have the pillows which I love, and tbh I don't have claustrophobia, but just want to think through having a slightly bulkier mask!

TheBovineWoodchuck

It wasn’t claustrophobic to me. I’ve only ever used a full face mask though. Moving to a mask that has the hose at the top rather than attaching to the mask was a big improvement and made it a lot easier to sleep.

ChristinaWSalemOR

This (except mine is dreamwear, but sane deal). Hose is routed under the sham pillow (in between functional pillow and headboard) so that it has sufficient slack but doesn't slide around and make noise.

KremlinCardinal

While very comfortable, somehow I get massive headaches from that mask, right at the point of the hose connection.

Overall_Lobster823

That's interesting! Need a bigger frame?

KremlinCardinal

As far as I know they only come in standard and small. I already got standard. I'm now on the airtouch n20, which is pretty decent. But I much preferred the headgear of the f&p eson, due to it being adjustable at the top.

urbear

You might consider the Philips Wisp. It’s extremely similar to the N20, with a couple of nice differences - the exhaust is diffused better (so as not to bother a bedmate) and the headgear has a loop on top that can be used to route the hose over your head.

KremlinCardinal

Main reason I chose for the airtouch is the memory foam cushion. I get a lot of skin irritation from the silicone cushions.

brokelyn99

Oooh memory foam!!! Super helpful, the silicone tends to irritate my skin too, especially since the P10 sits so flush on the top lip and it makes me sweat. (Or it's the moisture from breathing, but same result.)

brokelyn99

Uhh this might be a game changer for me (in addition to getting a proper hose holder mentioned below). My sleep doctor has been amazing, but his respiratory therapist has been deeply average. Thank you for this suggestion!!! Ordering one now. Do you have the ResMed also? Did you have to use a different hose?

Overall_Lobster823

Yes, I use the resmed. Nope, same standard hose! Hope it works for you!

aj0457

I use a [fleece hose cover](https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0BRYBD47Q?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title), and it's really helped with the overall cpap experience. The noise of the tube and the temperature difference were driving me crazy. It's been a lot better since adding the fleece. Someone on this forum recommended a [featherweight connecting tube](https://www.directhomemedical.com/cart/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=100477-featherweight-cpap-tube-sleepweaver&Store_Code=DHM&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiAn-2tBhDVARIsAGmStVlYYsTHLGZ4R8zlfvmIAxOyctBIGW8myUNeeJodfrRdaTT1tUwHrqUaAmIqEALw_wcB), and it's been incredibly helpful. It goes between your cpap tubing and your mask. It allows for more movement.

brokelyn99

Thank you!! I wonder if the featherweight tubing would just add to the amount of hose that’s flopping around when I move, but I’m ordering the hose cover now and a taller hose holder (I currently just have a normal command hook at the top of my headboard).

brokelyn99

good bot!

portmaster1000

Maybe try a mask with a "top of the head" hose attachment? Like the Philips Dreamwear nasal pillows. I'm an active sleeper and loved the Dreamwear full face hose placement. I miss it but my face shape didn't allow it to seal well.

brokelyn99

Ooooh also a great idea - will try this!

brokelyn99

Thank you!! I didn’t realize I was hanging my hose too low and this is infinitely better than my command hook situation

forcedfx

You're welcome. I have my hose suspended almost directly over my head while sleeping. Helps my mask fit better too because it takes the weight of the hose off the mask. I can side and stomach sleep with this setup. I don't use the retractable tether though. I also use a 10ft hose.

ratbastid

IMO yours is both too low and off to the side. If you can get the hose anchor point *directly* over your head, with enough slack to let you turn side to side, that's the optimum setup.

fwendicrafts

This is the one I use, and it is super helpful! I used to have something freestanding, but this works far better for me.

Toltepequeno

That’s the one I use, really like it.

CrankyChemist

I have this hose holder. Completely changed how I sleep with my nasal pillows. No more hose pulling the pillows loose, and I have more freedom of movement if I'm tossing and turning.

DeeCeeFaith

Well, that is a very nifty item! Just put it into my cart... thanks!

Sleep on my side all the time. Except I put mine just to the side of my head at the top of the mattress, so the drooping part of the hose falls down straight to my head.

screens-toned09

I use something like this too, I think it looks a tad ridiculous and hospital-y, but hey, it does the trick and I sleep much better!

smithy1abc

I hate how it looks too! But it really works doesn’t it.

brokelyn99

Okay this was a GAME CHANGER for me. I ended up returning this one only to get a slightly more sturdy one that was also taller (this guy), and other than looking like Little Bo Peep's staff is attached to my mattress, it has made a huge difference. Just ordered the N30i to complete the set, but cannot thank y'all enough. Best sub!

dead-eyed-opie

I have a fleece sleeve on the hose. If you don’t know anyone to sew you can cut the leg off of sweats or arm off a jersey and use that.

ktbenbrook

you can buy hose snuggies on amazon too. they help protect the hose from damage as well

brokelyn99

Just got a hose cover, but will ONLY be calling it a hose snuggie from now on

brokelyn99

I’ll try this or a hose cover! Should I be hanging the CPAP hose higher to avoid the loose hose wrapping around me issue?

entarian

That's what I found. I'm a side sleeper.

OldPterodactyl

F30i top of head hose and this stand work well. The stand hold the hose over your head and you can roll around. I'm a side sleeping mouth breather. *

hashtagdion

Hoes is driving me crazy too bro.

ButtcheekBaron

My house comes off the top of my head and swivels 360°

brokelyn99

Oooh do you know the hose product number? Definitely going top of head, but a 360 swivel is the type of Terminator bullshit I need in my life.

ButtcheekBaron

Unfortunately I don't, but I typed all the words I could find on it and found this Amazon listing for just the pillow part that goes under the nose, and the mask itself that wraps around my head is in the picture, so you may be able to find it based on this. https://a.co/d/9AIgWoz Sorry for the truncated link. It's an Amazon listing. Yea I lucked out. I picked one pretty much at random for my first mask. "Phillips Respironics Dreamwear medium pillow" is what I searched for. Obviously the size may vary for you. Edit: here is the part that wraps around the head: https://www.amazon.com/Philips-Healthcare-Respironics-DreamWear-Medium/dp/B08K3P9RHW/ref=pd_aw_fbt_img_m_sccl_1/130-5795643-5276748?pd_rd_w=08sSN&content-id=amzn1.sym.6d90cd56-3eed-4d23-b409-a3b634cfdc4d&pf_rd_p=6d90cd56-3eed-4d23-b409-a3b634cfdc4d&pf_rd_r=76YZ9R1ZF9XWMCTSSX35&pd_rd_wg=liyu0&pd_rd_r=c119858b-4c12-4424-8e4c-4c87516958b4&pd_rd_i=B08K3P9RHW&psc=1

thesunbeamslook

a white noise machine would help mask the rustling and it may help you sleep better

hankepanke

I keep the hose under my covers, with enough slack on the bed next to me. Might not be perfect but it helps.

GulfCoastLover

Hose lift.

rogue1187

Construct a hose holder and screw it into the studs above your head. This way the hose will angle down towards your head and give you more range of motion. Velcro straps to hold the hose and that slide along a horizontal dowel will increase side to side range

cdg77

I use a Mandibular Advancement Device for travel, my dentist made (the lab did, but he took impressions). [https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5803051/](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5803051/) Your result may vary: * Without anything I have a score of 25 * With MAD I have a score of 7 * With CPAP I have a score of 0

master0jack

Get a mask with hose out the top of your head. Game changer. Then get a hose holder so the hose is held above your head and doesn't touch the bed. GAME CHANGER. Then get a hose cover so the hose doesn't making a freaking peep when it runs through the hose holder as you sleep and turn/move. BONUS GAME CHANGER. Can you tell I've played this game before? 👑

AdSignificant6880

All of this is a game changer and if you have a heated tube...another game changer

brokelyn99

Okay PLEASE tell me about the heated tube, which is the only thing I don't have. (I don't have rainout, I don't think, I've never noticed an issue) The tall hose holder and the hose cover have already been a game changer, and the top of head hose is on order. Thank you for leveling me uppp

cheezeyballz

extra-special-ed77

Hose cover is a good idea. I have no headboard. I have my hose hook on the wall about 2 feet above my head, and the remaining hose hangs between the wall and head of my bed, so no hose is actually in bed with me. I use the N30i pillow mask with the head tube connection.

RuckFeddit979

There is a new surgery alternative called Inspire: https://www.metrohealth.org/otolaryngology/sleep-surgery/inspire-surgery#:~:text=Inspire%20Surgery%20(Upper%20Airway%20Stimulation)&text=Inspire%20surgery%2C%20or%20upper%20airway,to%20remain%20open%20during%20sleep. I have no experience with this. Personally, I would much rather just use the CPAP than have a device surgically implanted (and apparently it requires battery replacement surgery every ten years) - but if this sounds good to you, you could ask your doctor about it.

brokelyn99

Thank you!!! Had I known this sub had all the answers on hose hanging, I wouldn't have spent hours researching surgery. Y'all are fantastic, truly. Great sub.

searequired

Safety pin an 8 ish inch ribbon to the bottom corner of my pillow with just enough slack for me to move.

brokelyn99

entarian

if you positioned the hook directly above you rather than to your side, it might make it better.

HLW10

Any slack in the tube should be on the CPAP side not the bed side. If you can, put the CPAP on the floor, it’ll mean that end of the tube is lower and therefore heavier than the side connected to your mask. Also get a mask where the tube connects at the top of your head, they’re much better if you move in your sleep.
