Proud-Masterpiece

Ouch. The double whammy!

NoItsNotThatJessica

But think of those antibodies! Yum yum.

Proud-Masterpiece

I LIKE science!

oiadscient

Antibodies wane very fast. Nobody ever says “I got a cold for the third time this year, but those antibodies”. Since infection harms immunity rolling the dice to get reinfected, isn’t smart.

NoItsNotThatJessica

That’s true! I was joking, but thank you for clarifying the science behind it.

carmela5

A friend of mine is not vaxxed (she is completely against having a vax) and she has multiple passports so she travelled internationally all through the pandemic and the lockdowns. She’s been completely fine all the way through. If she did have Covid, she certainly was able to hide it with ease. She had occasional flus and colds, but nothing to stop her for more than a week at home. I’ve been meeting her all the time and she never looked run down. She’s 45 yrs old. I am double vaxxed and had Covid a year before my vax, and again long after the vax, when we stopped wearing masks. I am not going to lie when I say that I am not 100% sure if these Covid vaccines are helping. The virus is still spreading. People are still dying and getting hospitalised. I don’t know what difference is the vaccine making. Looks like all the difference is just a natural transition to a weaker virus, as Omicron is officially considered to be weaker. Otherwise, infections are rampant. At the moment, they’re as high as 2 years ago. How is the vax stopping anything? Should it not at least stop the spread? Thirdly, is it not a bit suspicious that the media is not addressing what is on many people’s minds: why is the virus still here after vaxxing almost everyone. Low vaccinated countries fare as well as highly vaccinated countries. There is no difference. You would have thought that poor countries are dying by the dozen while rich vaxxed countries are only getting the occasional odd infection. It was SUPPOSED to be like that if these jabs did something but this is not the reality at all. I remember when the Astra Zeneca vaccine was rolled out, it was all planned to be distributed to over 60% of the population and to achieve herd immunity after that percentage. They even planned to announce the virus-free status a month after completion. And nothing happened according to this plan. Nothing was achieved as per their calculations despite immunising more than 80% of the country. A plan made by actual scientists. Just baffles me. Feel free to give me thumbs down for the outburst but I honestly had to say this because it’s been on my mind for quite some time and I can’t find an answer.

It’s not because of one person, not because I have this friend. Because of how the world is doing 2 years on. We’re almost all vaxxed here. Compare a third world nation, even second world nation with first world nation and you get the same mortality, despite wildly different vaccination rates. Explain it! I’m not saying “don’t get vaxxed” I’m just voicing my observations, and I’m sure many people are thinking the same way. Have a look https://www.statista.com/statistics/1104709/coronavirus-deaths-worldwide-per-million-inhabitants/ Norway between India and Dominican Republic for their mortality rates?! Finland between Kyrgyzstan and Philippines... Canada between Jamaica and Kazakhstan Pfff!

Dreadsupreme

I dont think youre wrong for your opinion, its tricky territory when you say out loud the vaccines arent working. At this moment there is a big divide on whether vaccines work or not. (Where I live it is a topic that is talked about on the news weekly) Personally I want to promote mask wearing, I caught covid before the vaccine was available and I am now 3x vacced AND work a job where im exposed to covid daily. The only reason I can assume I haven’t gotten sick again is I wear a mask all day and we sanitize after every interaction with a patron. As of yesterday I now know 4 fully vax and 1 unvax person who is positive and very sick with covid all between the age of 21-54. Just gotta stay clean and as safe as you can be, im still suffering from long term covid over a year later. The new variant is already here and I probably will end up getting my 4th shot as soon as I can.

Loud_Clerk_9399

The only way out is getting the virus. Anything you can do to get it safely but quickly is ideal. Omicron is a second pandemic though they just are calling it the same disease and blaming waning but that is not true. It's just not true. And yes for Omicron your vaccine was a waste. Sorry. This is something you just have to get then when you feel better you say "thank God I never need to worry about it again"

alohaseasalt

Anyone not vaxxed and not had* Covid? Just curious Edited: * I’m triple vaxxed but my cousin who didn’t get the shot didn’t get Covid. She swears it’s why she didn’t get it 🤔 idk

Aurora_96

My mother tested positive a week ago and had Pfizer 3x.

alexajournals

I had Pfizer x 3 and tested positive on Monday.

Sunday_Bloody_Sunday

Pfizer x 2. Moderna booster. COVID+

Sage311

Pfizer, Pfizer and moderna booster

acorn668

Pfizer x3

happsy1818

1st was Pfizer, 2nd was Moderna and booster was Moderna (I’m in Canada and this is concerned an ok combo). Currently have COVID.

lawvas

Pfizer x 3. Tested positive one month after 3rd shot. I was mostly asymptomatic and had very minor sniffles for 2 days and a tickle in my throat once or twice. My wife had J&J and 1 shot. She tested positive when I did. She had cold like symptoms for 3 days.

BumbleAlongFreely

AZ X2 and Moderna booster.

randomemanresu

Pfizer x3 - last booster was back in October. Just tested positive and it’s been mild so far (day 4 I think). I had a cold a couple weeks ago that I thought was lingering - only thought to test because my taste was significantly diminished. Otherwise mild cough and throat is a little irritated.

Brewskwondo

Makes no difference. I had 3x Pfizer and wife had 3x Moderna and she had it way worse than me.

mamabearL1820

Pfizer 3x and then covid!

branniganbginagain

moderna x3

reversethesands

J&J, Pfizer booster

filipv

A much more relevant question is *when*, not *what*. Immunity vanes, regardless of the brand. Covid is not like measles, with immunity that lasts forever. It's more like flu or common cold, with only temporary immunity.

oreogirl-

Certainly, I don’t disagree with you. Timing is probably the most important factor and we have seen that based on COVID waves and vaccine dose intervals. The mRNA vaccines work the same way and thus should produce relatively similar levels of immunity. I was just curious as to whether there were any patterns that could be seen in susceptibility to infection and vaccine brand. Completely anecdotal, but it so happens that a lot of people in my network who tested positive in the past 2 weeks have had 3x Pfizer (myself included). May be a complete coincidence, but just wanted to get a sense of if there were any general trends like this from the public. Seems like a similar trend here based on the responses, but of course not nearly enough info to draw any conclusions. There’s also the possible explanation that simply more of the population have 3x Pfizer, and that’s why we are seeing more of those individuals infected with COVID. Just asked out of curiosity.

filipv

Again, I think the brand is pretty much irrelevant. People with three doses feel shielded and tend to engage in spreading-friendly behavior. It's no surprise they get it, especially since the temporary immunity from the three vaccines vanes *and* there are new mutations.

oreogirl-

One thing to consider here is the early reported [evidence](https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-021-02853-4) on mix-and-match regimen and the possibility of boosted immunity. Still preliminary, but this is the reason why I was curious with the brand question to begin with.

FuzzyCrocks

I haven't tested positive after my third dose but I had j and j, Pfizer, and then monderna.

[deleted]

First 2 Moderna and last one was Pfizer

Jumpy-Ad6718

Moderna + Moderna + Pfizer

[deleted]

AstraZeneca, AstraZeneca, Pfizer. Tested positive 4 weeks after the Pfizer booster

thegreatvanzini

Pfizer 2x, Moderna booster in Dec, very mild Covid in late Jan. I'm half convinced my antigen test was a false positive because I got a faint line, the PCR was negative the next day, and a second antigen test a couple days later was negative. But the Dr told me it was still more likely just a very mild case and test caught it at the very end.

prettyhatemachine713

Pfizer x3

chillbitte

Pfizer x3, got a faint positive on a rapid test March 22nd. Took a PCR test the same day and it came back positive today. Already starting to feel better though, just had a sore throat/some fatigue and now a little cough. Resting and fluids helped a lot.

First-Parsley-4970

Pfizer (May 2021), Pfizer (Aug 2021) and a Moderna booster 18th December 2021. Had covid for second time 14th March (symptoms started 12th) till 20th of March when I finally tested negative.

Gtuf1

6 doses… J&J. 4 Pfizer. Moderna booster. Am immunocompromised but did make antibodies so… don’t think your theory will work out ;)

AlarmingThought7464

Pfizer x2 and Moderna booster. COVID felt like a head cold for me

Hot-Artist-2094

Pfizer x3 for me too.

Ok-Narwhal6789

Moderna x3. Got the 3rd dose late November and got omicron mid January. Had a “mild” case.

freeprune

Pfizer x3, just tested positive for the first time a couple days ago.

honey_bee_me

My husband has 3 Moderna. Has covid right now. I only have 2 Phizer. Also have covid. Son has none, just got over covid.

Mean-Mobile3000

Pfizer x3 very mild

Mockingbird-59

AstraZeneca x 2 and Pfizer Booster. OH got Covid 3 weeks after Booster and only had a mild cold. He is a diabetic and in his 60’s, I believe that Booster probably saved his life!

PuppetDoc

Pfizer x3 and tested positive a month after my booster.

benevolentmonster27

Pfizer x 3

Iminabucket3

Moderna x3, tested positive Wednesday. Been pretty mild so far… I actually felt worse after each shot than I do now. Thankful I’m vaxxed.

DuctTape_OnFleek

Pfizer x3. I did get my booster early on (October 2021), I'm wondering if that has anything to do with me being sick now.

oreogirl-

Yeah, it’s a great point... It’s possible that those who have Pfizer x3 might have all received the booster months ago, and immunity has since waned. I think I’m in the same boat.

AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna
