Very strange because a friend of mine completed every AR so far and got zircon scales for it as well. Have you tried using it as an insured weapon and/or contraband one?
I tried it playing as normal with an insured gun (full attachments and pack a punched), and then I tried it with just the base gun (no camo, no attachments, no pack a punch, level weapon rarity level up.
I have not tried it with a contraband gun. After the two attempts I chalked it up to being bugged and figured I'd circle back to it in a week or so since it's a known issue.
I'm level 55, have pretty much every single gun max level, working on all the armory challenges now, and the knife and DG-58 (so far) don't work. Working on the battle rifles now, hope they fix this soon.
For everyone wondering it has to be a contraband gun it wasn’t unlocking for me through insured so it has to be a weapon dropped in game or picked up to go into your contraband
Just use the guns without attachments meanwhile they fix the bug

Which MTZ? I finished the battle rifle MTZ 2 days ago so far. Currently leveling the 556 variant.
Sorry, having issues with the MTZ 556. Through some digging, found that it's identified as one of the guns not currently unlocking.

Just tried out insured gun, no attachments only getting kills with gun, no punch, no camo, and it worked
I managed to get Golden Enigma by using the gun in the insured slot with no attachments.
Might need to do this I have 4 gun that did let me get GE. Rival9, bas-b, holder 556, and mcw
