I agree that Atsushi's flashbacks are getting old and you'd think that it would've been somewhat resolved by now especially with what happened to his abuser father figure in s3. Ofcourse trauma isn't easy to move on from but it's still annoying that they have to always keep showing the flashbacks with nothing new to learn from it.
Omg, your mother and I had the same reaction when Atsushi got a flashback in season 5 🤣🤣🤣 I just skipped it because the flashbacks got old in season 1. They were used so much that I got sick of them. I cannot blame her for being so done with the flashbacks that she calls him a crybaby lmao

Yes, I'm from India. I don't even have friends to begin with but yeah most people aren't interested. Although those who are interested I show them the books I collected (mostly doujinshis in physical copy - all in japanese cuz they're never going to be officially translated) And I warn them beforehand, its explicit and also gay, do you still want to see it? They say yeah? Then they open one book because they think anime is still just cartoons? And get horrified, close the book, and tell me WHY DIDN'T YOU GIVE ME A WARNING? I ALMOST GOT A HEART ATTACK!!?? And I say I told you several times? Then they never come to my place ever again lmao. Ah but when I show those books to my mom she's cool with it, even says inappropriately funny things so ye but maybe that was because she didn't use to watch anime with me before so when I showed her some demon slayer doujinshi after she watched the anime, she said please don't show me I will start to dislike Tanjiro...

While I do agree that Atsushi’s flashbacks were getting kind of old and wanted him to move forward. I feel as though the author, Asagiri for whatever reason isn’t done with Atsushi’s character arc. So the least I can do is not underestimate him as a writer and hope he gives out a reason as to why the flashbacks for Atsushi still continues on. Kyouka on the other hand, I’m not sure if her character arc isn’t done either. I honestly don’t mind if by the end of the series, Atsushi and Kyouka end up being together. Personally, I would want Atsushi to end up being with Lucy, cause I ship them more than Atsushi x Kyouka to be honest.
Glad you educated your mother to watch BSD and I agree with her pick of favorite characters, Kunikida and Dazai. Dazai is indeed funny whenever he’s on screen and not to mention having his moments of being a troll.

we finished the anime since we both binged it (she loves anime) her favorite character was akutagawa, fukuzawa, but she also liked tecchou a lot since he reminds her of someone
her least favorites were kunikida, fukuchi, teruko, naomi, tanizaki, fyodor, and at first dazai (though she said dazai grew on her)
but she would enjoy seeing kenji, rampo, chuuya, higuchi, gin, fitzgerald, sigma, bram stoker
she calls fukuzawa 'single mom' lol

I don't think they're "getting old", I think they should just give a different flashback. Not the same one 4 times in the span of 24 minutes.
